@seehound619 Superior song writing, and an overall atmosphere to their music. From what I've heard, recording albums for Morbid Angel was a spiritual thing, not simply recording the tracks. The difference between a good band and an outstanding one is the connection that is with the musicians instrument and music, something Morbid Angel had.

@ConquerTheCemetery superior song writing perhaps...... the spiritual aspect is moot to me......I am a big morbid angel fan....... "fall from grace" is one of my fav death metal songs of all time....... but I stand by my statement/opinion that Supreme Pain is heavier (which to me means faster and more brutal sounding).

@seehound619 Yeah I agree. It just gets a little out, you know? A lot of Death Metal bands these days are more focused on being just that: brutal and faster and focused on blasting as fast as possible and triggering all the bass drums and being technical. It's not really original for the most part. There is a fair share of unique Death Metal bands like Lykathea Aflame, etc. but nothing is too original and grabbing.

@ConquerTheCemetery cool that u appreciate more unique bands.....I confess I like the simply fast,brutal unoriginal style lol......however......the newest trend I can't stand is these pig squealing sounding vocals....that is such garbage.......the vocals have to be somewhat comprendable for me.

@seehound619 For sure. I like vocals different, not generic. For example, when Cryptopsy came out, Lord Worm had a style that was unheard of, and I have never heard someone that has sounded the same.
