  • Amazing

  • What does everyone think of Rob Trujillo, is he better than Newsted?

  • @HSimon1981 I'm not sure, but I think Rob is the better one technically. Take a look at some of his stuff in Infectious Grooves.

  • this should of been the end of the song

  • @IronTallicaDeth

no, not really. It was his idea to reverse the intro.

In almost 15 years with metallica he got credits for 2 Songs. He didn't compose anything.

  • man these tones are gorgeous both ways

  • incredible! it retains the tonality, backwards

  • I guess the real reverse is the actual intro.

  • Both versions are great. Shulda tried to fit both in the song

  • @blazingboy42 Definitely, that's what I would've done.

  • i kinda like that better than the one they used

  • maybe it's just because i've heard the reversed version more but i think the forward version sounds better

  • does anyone have the fkn reverse intro with the entire song???? lik jeez

  • what wicked talent and studio production...to actually record something cool "normally" and have it sound awesome backward!!!

  • it is better

  • i think the original is more heroic

  • the reversed version is better...good call by Metallica! :)

  • i hate newsted, burton wiped the floor with him

  • @Tommy8330 Yeah, but Newsted had a great live presence in my opinion. I mean, that's got to be some of the most violent headbanging I've ever seen!

  • @SwedishBerzerker

"that's got to be some of the most violent headbanging I've ever seen! X 1000

He was a beast and he had a lot of energy on stage that he shared with the crowd

  • @PogoMath HAha yeah man, I was just waiting for his head to come off! :P

  • @Tommy8330 i agree

  • @Tommy8330 WHAT?!?! jason's the fuckin man dude. not only one of the greatest backing vocalists of all time, but the man could headbang like a motha fucker

  • @Tommy8330 He is the one who wrote the intro

  • @UkrRusSlavic no one asked that

  • @Tommy8330 look what songs metallica created with newsted....!

  • gives me chills everytime i hear this intro

  • Reversing it was pure fuckin genius. I would've like to hear the original as an outro...which would've faded out into the next track. Of course they'd have to compose an alternate ending to Blackened to make it fit. Ahhh the possibilities...

  • I thought it had to be reversed, I really wanted to play this song on my guitar, but the orginal (that is to say, the one on the album) sounds impossible to play. And so it is ;) But this one sounds really easy to play.

  • @Luukjuh13 the album one isnt impossible, there are plenty of vids showing how to do it here :)

  • @Luukjuh13 I know this is an old comment, but...It isnt that h ard to play even in the reversed way, the only touble you owuld have is making it sound right because the volume increases rather than decreases :)

  • i like the second version best :)

  • is there alot of song like this?

  • Bad ass. Thanks for posting.

  • personally i prefer the original..

but the non reversed one is definitely interesting, awesome job.

i had no idea it was reversed in the first place.

  • intresting

  • Man this is so cool that im getting chills it feels much more blackner than the original thing.

  • Could've put that on the album as the outro to blackened..

  • i added this plus the intro plus the song check it out!

  • wow. it was way cooler reversed. why didnt they do that?

  • it is actually reversed in the album....the second time is how they origionally recorded it but jason newstead said to the band that it sounded cooler played backwards so they played it backwards in the song

  • its sounds so much better they should do this live

  • Nice man! Been wondrin' how it was really made.

  • I really dont like heavy metal, but Metallica (as well as a few others) is an exception. They are AWESOME!!! =DDD

  • The original sounds waaayyy cooler

  • shit! that was cool!!

  • they only reversed this to piss off Jason Newsted right?

  • I haven't heard that rumour before... so I don't know :/

  • it was jason's idea to reverse it ;)

  • Really? Cool..

  • That's what I heard, Jason wrote Blackened as a whole i guess, I'd better look on Wikipedia. Yes he did

  • Cool, thanks!

  • no prob

  • @Bandana112

Not everything you read on Wikipedia is true. Also, the writing credit on the Justice album, and anywhere else I've seen it is Hetfield/Ulrich/Newsted. That means Jason probably came up with some of the riffs, and then James put the rest of the song together with Lars.

It's sort of like Kirk did with Enter Sandman. He wrote a guitar riff, Lars heard it on a tape, and then he and James put together a song from that.

  • @hiitsmcjosh

They did a LOT of things to piss Jason off ;)

  • i think they shoulda started the song how they do now.. but finished the song off with it in reverse fading out.. that would have been really good

  • Yeahhhhh, that would of been awesome.

  • Fucking a...just sends chills down my spine.

  • sound awesome, but the REAL one (that they used in album) is kinda diffrenet, has more Character (more hetfield in it) xD

  • That would be a cool outro for their concerts. Damn, it's so bleak yet beautiful at the same time!

  • wow dude man, both are fucking awesome!!!

  • О_О О_О О_О

  • I like the album version better.

  • i think reversed sounds better as an intro itself, but i also think that the original recording sounds really good by itself.

  • wow you know i REAALLYY couldn't tell you which one I like better! The original does sound much more musically correct and it has that magical thing that Tallica does when they harmonize their guitars, but backwards was a SICK idea and sounds badass too....tough one!

  • Would've been nice if Justice ended with the forward version, a nice little bit of closure to the album.

  • Yeah, like a movie going back to the introduction.

  • reversed sounds better than the real version

  • They both sound very cool. The second one sounds more.. coherent as music, I guess. But the first one does sound very cool.

  • sounds better reveresed nice job

  • Thanks! And for subscribing!

  • the reversed is better :) what program did u use?

  • The same as on all my other videos, Magix Music Maker 10. A software I bought years ago and that I've found is a pretty good video editor.

  • the reversed at the end and the original intro.... epic:P

  • you do know that the intro on the studio version is the reversed one and the second intro is the original one?!?!

  • Yeah of course! In the video I said "as they recorded it", meaning how it sounded when they were recording it, not the result when on the record.

  • the reversed sounds so sinister and cool!

  • that was pretty cool

  • That Bass OMG!

  • damundio is right

  • Sounds better reversed : )

  • al reves esta muy bien!!! :)

  • cliff is the god bass

  • It's Jason Newstead on bass on this album. Cliff was great though.

  • this was pretty cool, thx 4 posting!

  • awesome

  • The way it sounds when its changed back to the way it was played sounds so EERIE! I like it

  • That so should have been used as the outro.

  • That's exactly what I was thinking.

  • @Damundio so true.

  • how can i get this version on mp3 then?

  • I don't know, I made this myself.

  • ok then what program did you use?

  • download free program Audacity and go to effects and click reverse

  • You know, as with all the Justice songs, if Cliff was still in the band, he would have arranged the song in such a way that it would actually cohere quite nicely. In this instance, *this* should probably have been the outro, fading out with drums bashing all over the place a la "For Whom the Bell Tolls". It would have been clever to have the same bit of music two different ways bookending the song.

  • Yeah, never thought of it that way. Thanks

  • i still think with better production, and with cliff alive that justice could off topped puppets

  • Naturally. Bass would have added so much colour to it. As is, what we have is two practically identical guitars spouting out these riffs which are repeated endlessly. Though I admit Justice is the best collection of Metallica riffs available, at times I think it has no structure or flow (more or less the Smiley Smile of metal), and the delivery is marred by bad arrangement, bad production, and Cliff just not being there, because I believe he would've fixed everything.

  • Yeah, R.I.P. Cliff! With him, I don't think Metallica would've ever made the crappy 1990-2000 and 2004 decade albums. Heard of the Cliff stone in Sweden where he died? Yeah, a Swedish fanclub has collected money and for a couple of years ago they made the stone, with a Cliff inscription (and his picture) on it. I've been there, and it's at this camping place. Really cool, was on my way from Gothenburg to Stockholm, and took a much longer way just to see it :)

  • just saying, metallica is coming out w/ a collectors box set in l8r this month. I CANT WAIT!

  • Is that the one that has "Cannot the Kingdom of Salvation take me home" as the epitaph?

If it is, then yep, I've heard of it.

  • Yeah, that's the one :P

  • haha what can you predict what cliff burton would do or somethin i bet that if he was still alive it the album would be like master of puppets 2 just like crazy fast with that real thrashy sound which would be cool but i thought was a good change metallica did as far as rythum and soloing techniques how it was almost completely changed and the solos were more diverse

  • i bet he fucked ur mom during a date on one of metallica's tours

  • fuck you cliff burton is a god

  • i've got the whole song w/ this intro. i posted it. check it out

  • wow. amazing.

  • Love this intro, it's EPIC!

  • thats awesome

  • Hey, when it's played backwards you can just about hear the bass! You have to concentrate though.

  • heheh man, i think will be cool if you put first the reversed intro and then together the normal intro, just timing a place with the same volume and i think will be perfect. very heavy intro. try it :P thanks for this post man :P

  • so awesome

old metallica is far beyond awesome

  • pretty creepy how they both sound perfect

  • Yeah.. I wouldn't mind if they chose the other one.

  • Yeah... now AFTER I uploaded this one I realised other people already have done it... But yes it is true. Check out fansites etc, that's how I got to know it.

  • is that true?
