  • favorite song from that artist

  • where can i find the original by weill? which play is it from?

  • search amazon for "September Songs: The Music of Kurt Weill" It's from a production on tv which I've seen but would love to own. It was incredible. i can't find it but if it comes on again I'll tape it.

  • check out the other talent on the soundtrack: Lou Reed, Nick Cave, William S. Burroughs, Elvis Costello, etc.

  • I'm not sure, I've been wondering both of these too. Love Weill... absolutely love him

  • ok, i found out it was not attached to any play, it is just a ballade that him and bertolt brecht wrote in 1942.

  • YT: Kazik Staszewski "Zona zolnierza" -polish old punk version

  • This is such a sad video...

  • The moral of this story: don't mess with russians.

  • hahahahahahahha.......... good one!

  • I like the Swedish sub-title...;-). U speak Swedish? If not I can teach you;-O Basically you are musically a geniuos ...its BEAUTIFUL SONG

  • This song is so timeless and archetypal.

  • i find this video sexy. as hell.

  • 'September Songs'

STILL one of the coolest PBS specials I've ever seen...

  • yeah dont worry. i use limewire too. it says coldplay but its not really by them. somebody must have uploaded it under a wrong name. its a cover done by Pj harvey.

  • lol limewire

  • ah great stuff - I have september songs on a video that I taped from tv a number of years ago but poor reception :( wish it was on dvd!

  • Thank god (or something)for Youtube. Nice Polly Jean footage.

  • is she from russia?? can't place her accent.. she is very beautiful for sure..

  • She's a Brit. :)

Search for PJ Harvey Interview to hear her speak.

  • not my kind of song, but PJ does this really well.

  • Me to. Both Weill and PJ. Can you send more from this film? Lonely House? Youkali tango? Or all of them! :D

  • Love Kurt Weil's songs, and PJ Harvey. Saves time to hear the two at the same time! ;)

  • true ;) same opinion here

  • her words hit true! the oslo part makes me laugh cause I live here now and it's like that

  • interestingly, PJ has a nice bruise on her left arm, which you cannot see on any version of this on the web. It comes through well on my clean copy (nothing important, just a mildly interesting factoid for you).

  • This was taken from a tribute film 'September Songs: The Music of Kurt Weill', which was made back in 1994 with a bunch of artists performing a single song each. Nick Cave, Lou Reed, Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, etc., etc. Last I checked, it's not commercially available on dvd, though it can be found in some libraries on VHS (as it's somewhat considered an educational film, given the Weill/Brecht importance).

  • the one who singos "the ballad of the soldier's Wife" in that project is Marianne Faithful.

  • True, very nice song. And nice that PJ sings it.

This song will still belong, through the years, to our memory :-)

Marianne Faithfull - The Ballad of the Soldier's Wife:

"What was sent to the soldier's wife

From the ancient city of Prague ?

From Prague came a pair of high heeled shoes,

With a kiss or two came the high heeled shoes

From the ancient city of Prague..."

  • Lotte Lenya also sung it, and i think Marianne Thought on her performance in this work.

  • when is this from?

  • Why does it have Swedish subtitles?

  • I have no idea, sorry.

  • Nice! I never knew about this!

  • yes, very nice
