I'm a little annoyed us PC gamers have to wait longer...They said it was to stop piracy but how does that make sense, we'll have no money left after Christmas so that means more people will result to other means...
PC gaming is much more expensive, you need a machine that costs around 2500-3000 dollars (a high end machine), less if you build it yourself. But the people that know how to build it themselves are the ones that also know about Torrents.
When it comes to games, the market is bigger for consoles because they are cheaper. Publishers like it more because there's less piracy.
I think piracy on PC games would decrease if game companies offered a way to RENT games. If they used DRM through STEAM that allowed people to rent games (like you do with consoles) then people would rent something to try it out. It's very frustrating when you purchase a game and are bored with it 3 hours later because it's not that good. That will push people to go download them to see what the game is like. A 30 minute demo does not cut it anymore.
I was talking about this with a friend yesterday. If the PC market was cut off then people would move on to the consoles and piracy would rise up ten fold. I mean even so piracy is quite high anyway for consoles, my friends 360 was pirated BY Microsoft because they didn't check properly and repaired it after he put in the pirate stuff.
Steam may end up being the solution in regards to demos.
I tried Quake Wars and did not like it thanks to Steams system allowing me to try it. And ahem with Far Cry 2 I was damn sure it wasn't worth buying so I had a go and I was right.
ok, i want to get this game, but i have to send my xbox in for repair, so when it comes back, should i get this, call of duty world at war, or far cry 2?
I have FC2, I don't like it at all actually. So I'd say COD or M.E.
If it was up to me, I know I would get Mirror's Edge hands down. I've played LOTS of WWII shooters, including Call of Duty ones, Mirror's Edge is a new IP... a new Genre even.
I read that it's short though... Like Portal... so about 6-9 hours first time through. But Portal was awesome, and time trial should extend the replay value. I know I would get bored with COD less than 9 hours into it. (I'm tired of WWII)
Lol the prototype is so cool. Especially when he jumps and shoots behind him

Ya, it's kind of sad to see PC gaming dying.
