I googled 'best interpretation for Bruch No.1' and one of the suggestions was Accardo with Kurt Masur. I listened to almost all interpretations poste here -Ion Voicu is also a good one!- and even if Heifetz, Oistarkh, Perlman impressed me, I consider this one the most profound and thrilling.
I've listened to many performances of this, and I think Accardo has it right. His slower tempi on the exposition and recap really bring out the passionate drama of the music. Most people take it too fast, and the phrasing doesn't make as much sense. This was a revelation for me. I hope that many young players will listen. Thanks for posting!!
@tbmmoe-I agree. Heifetz is a major violator of playing too fast especially this concerto when compared with Accardo or Perlman. Check-out Perlman's here it is very good.

The first movement sounds like more like a piece for violin with orchestral accompaniment rather than a violin concerto.
It's a nice piece, but it isn't one of my favorites.
