Fricking spolstra or however you spell it needs to get allot more crap for his part in this heat disaster last year. I never once heard any of the major news outlets question or even bring up his game plans.
I do see some similarities between JJ Barea and Steve Nash.. but come on Coach Nick Steve Nash is a two-time MVP and a first ballot future Hall of Famer.. I hope this vid opened alot of eyes , everyones quick to blame lebron because of all the self praise which might i mention was fueled by the entire NBA and the Cleveland fans. yes lebron is to be blamed , but he's not to be held completely responsible for this loss .
And at age 29, it's pretty much too late for Dwayne to develop any real bball IQ. Now that he doesn't have Shaq to suck up the entire opposing defense, I feel as though he's getting exposed. Problem with Dwayne Wade is that his game is too scripted. did u compare barea to nash...his shooting ability and passing ability aren't close to nash....barea does move well with the ball but it doesnt lead to nearly as many easy buckets compared to nash
Hey coach nick, do you think the Heat should have experimented more with Lebron playing the 4? You'd think he'd definitely have the tools to defend Dirk, while Dirk would definitely struggle to defend him on the other end.
@davybarrecks Good question - it's been a while, and it's hard to remember... That said, I think the Heat matched up poorly with the Mavericks. They really didn't have anyone to defend Jason Terry - they seemed unwilling to have Wade do it too much. And defending Barea was difficult for them as well. So LBJ guarding Dirk would have shifted everyone else on to difficult matchups. Carlisle vs. Spoelstra was too much of an advantage for the Mavs
@bballbreakdown I think the Heat could probably have gotten away with a Bosh, James, Wade, Miller/House, Chalmers lineup that would have really put pressure on the Mavs as it would probably force them to play Marion on the 4 to match up with James and either go with Dirk or Chandler at the 5. Surprised they didnt just start Bosh at the 5, its not like Chandler has much of a postup game.
@bballbreakdown first of all that was such an under the radar triple double that did nothing for the team whatsoever. every time he gets a trip doub people act like it's never been done. also, i'm confused. he could guard derrik rose and everyone went crazy cause he shut down the MVP but jason terry tore it up all over him. 9 pt drop off from playoffs to finals as well for lebron, most ever by a player in the history of the NBA. 2 pt avg in the 4th quarter. this is why the universal blame.
@davybarrecks with lebron on the 4 it doesnt mean nowitzki would cover him, thats up to the mavs to decide who covers him, and i doubt lebron could have done much against that fadeaway
@illman300 Well, imagine Dirk guarding a spotup shooter like Jones or Miller. There were a couple of plays in the Celtics series where KG got stuck guarding Jones and the Heat just ran a couple of screens till Jones got a wide open three. That or the guard could drive straight past Dirk into the teeth of the defense since Dirk doesn't really have the footspeed to keep up.
@davybarrecks yeah but spoelstra clearly isnt a coach that could lead a team to a championship...hes widely overrated and i believe that even the work he is given credit for was done by riley behind the scenes. if the heat want a title, riley needs to take over, and lebron needs to stop hiding...whats funny is how quickly people change their minds tho, before the finals lebron won in a poll of who is better, kobe or him by about 10%, after the finals kobe got 98% in the same poll
@illman300 I agree. the playoffs are the biggest stage... people forgot how good Chris Paul was till he pretty much singlehandedly took the Lakers to six games. Yeah, and Spo's just not that good a coach, sticking with Mike Bibby who was giving them nothing...
@davybarrecks yeah i told a couple of people who already put rose above him that paul is still better. and after the big 3 the only guy contributing were chalmers and miller on a good day and joel anthony sometimes. idk why he didnt play eddie house more, hes a beast on the 3s and a great defender. he put up 30 the last game of the season and he still didnt play him until it was too late
@illman300 I used to think House was a good defender while he was on the Celtics, but these past two years he's been struggling... The thing is, he's got quick hands, but bad footspeed meaning he can't really keep up with Terry or Barea. There's a couple of game six highlights where he just can't close out on shooters. And he's not big enough to cover a posting Jason Kidd. But I admit he was a great spark in Game 6 and maybe if Spo had played him more the series would have ended differently
@davybarrecks Dirk's too much for LBJ, that's why... he gonna end up with foul trouble.. Haslem is the guy to defend Dirk, he knows how to defend Dirk better than anybody in the Heat squad.
and you mention about the amazing block by james on marion. dont knw if u see that james tried to chase down block but terry just pull up for a wide open 13 footer on fastbreak and james is standing under the basket waiting to block
coach doesnt knw why the heat dont run the screen for lebron in crunch time cos defence would just sack off and take everything inside away and just let lebron chuck up his bricks.
Yeah, Wade was making a lot of bad decision during crunch time, But Lebron din't play like himself during the finals, its almost like hes not comfortable with Wade taking over. His 8 point game Wade seemed pissed through out that game(4th period), Lebron din't even try to take over the game like he did with the bulls, But this was bound to happen when the top 2 of the nba players get together in one team.
Coach nick. I disagree when you said lebron made a bad decision 5:21 because if he drove by Kidd Chandler or Dirk nowitzki would've blocked the shot. I would say probably drive by kidd a little bit and free himself for mid range shot
Stupid numbers PER and things of that nature will back that up However, Dirk and co won. And that's what matters. That's how we have to judge people. There ability to help the team win. My top ten 1. Wade 2. Dirk 3. Howard 4. Rose 4a. Durant 6. Kobe 7. James 8. Paul 9. Williams (pretty close to Paul but not so much recently) 10. Either Stoudameire or Melo, not sure.
It's the same play you showed. The difference/result is different, not the strategy. You're picking and choosing your spots; Wade does not deserve equal blame - he shot 55% in that series, got to the line a ton, got a ton of rebounds and played great defense whenever he was on Terry.
Dirk was great but he shot 42% in the series and scored slightly under Wade's average (even with the injuries). You could argue Wade was the better player in the finals and playoffs.
@MackenDaFlows Wow - I guess only a coach can see Wade's flaws then. I saw Jason Terry light the Heat up and hit crucial shot after crucial shot. And Dirk was by far the best offensive player on the court - Not. Even. Close. Clutch shot after clutch play in the most pressure filled situations possible. Wade did not perform at that level, as his turnovers and bad shots show. And the idea that you'd put LeBron behind Kobe after Kobe's performance this year is frightening.
@bballbreakdown He has flaws like all of us that does not change the things that he DOES do, and did throughout the 2011 playoffs. Terry did light up the Heat - just not when he was guarded by Wade. I have all these games on my DVR, look back at them; Terry did nothing against Wade.
Wade scored 18 combined points in games 4 and 5. He also had 3 blocks in those two 4th quarters. Even though they lost, he was clutch down the stretch in those games. He's the best player in the world.
@bballbreakdown Why is it that you're the only "coach" who says Wade was half the problem? Why were people on ESPN who are paid for their opinion all over LeBron and praising Wade for keeping his team in the series, which he did, by the way. Dirk was the best player on the court, but Wade was easily the second best, and the fact that he missed a few shots and maybe had a couple mental errors doesn't outweigh the way he led that team through games where LeBron did NOTHING.
@Sully12BB Trust me - I'm not the only coach who recognized the mistakes Wade made (you can remove the quotes from around the word coach in your comment). There were many times Wade made the whole team look bad by his shot selection and overdribbling. It's hard to argue what I'm showing you in HD - he hurt the team with those decisions. I'm sure with another year to work together, they'll iron those things out.
@bballbreakdown Ok you give what, 3 plays? A basketball game has almost 200 plays, and a six game series has 1200 or so. I don't think that making some errors like this is indicative of a series performance, especially considering you're the only person I've heard lay any significant blame on Wade. And not to be rude, but what are you coach of exactly? Just so I know, because to me there's a significant difference between an NBA coach and the coach of a high school team or something.
@Sully12BB How much stock do you put in ESPN analysts? Judge this video's worth or lack thereoff on its own merits, not by comparing it to a group of people who can't be necessarily be trusted themselves.
@GrapeCheckerBoard All I'm suggesting is that the ESPN analysts are paid for their opinions, and played or coached in the NBA themselves in most instances. I'm generally going to trust their opinions on the thing they know best, unless I'm shown irrefutable evidence otherwise, and to me, 3 clips of Wade making questionable decisions and missing somewhat tough shots compared to LeBron being TERRIBLE for 4 of 6 games says that LeBron had more of the blame, and ESPN agrees with that opinion.
@MackenDaFlows Accept the fact that Wade torpedoed the offense by dribbling in place, wasting too much time, and allowing the defense to jam up the lane and force him into bad shots. It happens, and let's hope Wade and James and Spoelstra learn from this.
@bballbreakdown Wade has a ring for a reason. He played well and bravely in that game. You're searching for reasons to criticize him so as to alleviate the pain of watching who you think is the best player in the world prove that he is not the best players in the world.
@MackenDaFlows You can't possibly think that I think LeBron is the best player in the world. Go back and watch my breakdowns - I criticize him as much as anybody. And Kobe was a shell of the player he had been - most likely because of injuries, but he certainly wasn't on par with the top 10 players in the league for the 2nd half of the season.
This is terrible. You're claims are unwarranted. You showed two identical sets, one that worked and one that didn't and said Spoelstra was unwilling to run a high screen for James.
@MackenDaFlows You've got it all wrong. I showed one set where they screen away in the corner and get a layup, and then I show how they've abandoned that to do mostly screens on the ball. And I did NOT say Spoelstra was unwilling to run a high screen for James. In fact, I said in crunch time, that's all they do!! High ball screens for Wade and LeBron, to the detriment of the Heat. Watch it again.
wade deserves equal blame? because of a single clip of him getting blocked by an all-defensive team center? he put up huge numbers all series. i hate wade but at least i can respect his aggressiveness and will to win. lebron was posting up 38 year-old kidd and 5'9" barea and still looking to pass. he just looked passive and afraid all series.
barea is a little white guy who can finish around the basket, but that doesn't make him steve nash. he's nowhere near as good a shooter or playmaker, and is even more of a defensive liability. he's a solid backup in this league but will never be nash-caliber. he's gimmicky and best used in short bursts. his performance against the lakers was largely due to how much attention dirk was drawing from the defense. good player, solid backup.... but that's about it.
i think barea given starter minutes, could definitely be an above average pointguard in the nba. i don't think he'd be like steve nash however, simply cause i don't think he's as good as nash. he's not as good a shooter, nash is a better ball handler, and nash is a bit taller. barea would be a poor mans' nash, not that that's necessarily a bad thing
at 5:43, that wasnt even a bad look from lebron...i know theoretically its supposed to be a bad look becuz of the clock situation...but it wasnt a bad look tho......wade was wrong tho for dribbling the ball too much...but a good look tho non the less
@dlawso77 Right - it wasn't a bad shot in the sense that LeBron had no choice in the matter - it was Wade's fault for holding it and throwing LeBron a horrible pass.
@bballbreakdown yeah but then in the vid whyd you say the play had resulted in a bad shot from lebron? when in fact, watching the play...it was actually a great look? lol
@mrphamful maybe it was to signify a 3-pointer or maybe to show wade was in the mini circle for 3 seconds ... he clapped 3 times - not sure though ... can someone clarify here??
100 million dollar team , amazing bench , elite big men , best coach in NBA history , 6th man and still Kobitch manages to get swept and go down as the most over rated player in NBA history .lisa leslie wouldn't let that elite laker team get swept .I know the truth hurts . Nuff said
great breakdown i'm no lebrontard, but damn the criticism on this guy is just dumb and unfair. Great analysis coach, Wade should of gotten equal amount of criticism, too much was focused on Lebron.
I completely agree with you coach Barea definitely can be like Nash. Based on what I've seen (scoop shot 3 point play, 3 pointer coming off a screen), it looks pretty evident.
Hi Coach Nick, I see what you're saying here, and the Heat just looked so disorganized in the Finals, and I agree coaching was one of the big differentials between the two teams. Is it possible Spoelstra completely lost the respect of his group? Do you think someone older like Pat Riley could have made the difference for Miami?
That LeBron "block" on Marion was a big foul. If you watch it in slow motion, you'll see LeBron hittin' Marion in the arms BUT NO FOUL CALL BY THE STERNS.....SORRY I MEAN REFS
Lebron was too passive in the 4th. He had a 8.5 drop off PPG difference from regular season and NBA Finals. That the largest drop in NBA history. There is a reason to point out James more heavily than Wade.
@Bballbreakdown Whats your feelings on Lebron saying, "When you wake up, you still have to face reality. You're still gonna have your personal issues. I'm still gonna have a great life"? Did he mean average blue collar workers? Or those obsessed with his failure?
Also, I agree with ya, coach. Spo's been majorly outcoached. Bibby's been terrible and so has Joel Anthony. Snipers Eddie House and Jones have been bizarrely absent for much of the series. Which baffles me as they are probably the two most reliable shooters. Why Spo is also sticking with a injured Mike Miller is mindboggling too.
Barea is the puerto rican AI! I think part of the reason Barea is so lethal is because on the pick & roll, often the pick guy is Dirk and Barea is surrounded by three point snipers. I reckon if they dropped Kidd's minutes to 20 and raised Barea and Roddy B's mins, the Mavs would be in great shape next season with a similar offense with slashers and shooters.
First of all, you showed him playing on fire. He doest play like that routinely like Nash. Second of all, even if he did thats still a stupid comparison because what you showed doesnt even define what Nash does. He is one of the best playmakers EVER, the second you try to compare someone to Nash, playmaking ability is what comes to your mind and JJ doesnt have that at all. Lastly, Nash is also one of the best pure shooters in the history of the game
I'm a huge Suns fan but to answer your question, no, Barea is no Steve Nash. I mean, you can make an argument that the way he scores look kind of like Nash's (three off the dribble at the 45 degree, the "old guy in YMCA" lay up) but he doesn't have Nash's court vision. You can train a lot of stuff. You can train yourself to hit unorthodox shots (see: Zach Randolph). You can even teach passion, but you can't teach court vision. Barea is made to be a scorer, not a passer who has to carry a team.
@JasonDaPsycho don't forget how they're both short white guys! Jokes, jokes. But I think, watching several mav playoff games, Barea actually seemed more of a pass first guard in much of the games (maybe due to his struggles) but the guy is averaging solid assist numbers for a bench players on a veteran squad loaded with great passers. Looks like he only scores when he gets one of those wide open or an open jumper. Which when you're playing with Dirk, seems to happen quite often.
@Haskel45 The logic is that its Wade's fault because Wade is dominating the ball, taking all the shots, not passing, etc, etc. Not saying I agree with it either though.
btw, I'm surprised you didn't mention the near quadruple double (29 pts, 19 rebounds, 10 assists, 9 TO's )in 09 ECSF!
i hope the mavs win tonight but miami is the home team so they getting the crucial calls down the stretch. i hope dallas can catch on fire from 3 and get a big enough lead to control the game early and put it away. i counted on miami's "1 against 5" mentality to allow them to get beat this year and its showing in every 4th quarter when they stop running plays and just swing it 2 wade on one side and then he swings it back to lebron and hopefully something good happens. team defense usually wins.
i see where youre coming from with the barea/nash comparisions but youre missing a key factor of nash's game. Nash is a top 5 passer in nba history. Some of the passes he makes are impossible to do even with practice. Barea is similar to nash in creating plays off the pick n roll or going behind the screen and shooting but defintely NOT on nash's level in ANY category except they both small quick point guards. i understand why u said it but i see why they dismissed your idea.
The only thing Barea has on Nash is his scoring ability. The strongest part of Nash's game is his court vision and his ability to make his teammates better. Barea has nothing close to that.
Unbelievable how many of u are being incredibly stupid, not even thinking why Coach Nick compares JJ to Nash. You do know that Nash averaged even 24 PPG, is that a 100% passer mentality ? Barea doesn't fear to split the defence, he doesn't fear to take and make a tough shot in the pain and knows when to pass it out to the open man and make an extra pass. It is indeed similar to Steve Nash earlier in his career(his late 20s), back when he wasn't yet a sublime utter best passer there is.
1:33........ STEVE NASH??? ya of course you got dismissed.... steve nash passes the ball, LOL those highlights are the guy putting the ball in the net... so you could say he resembles ALLLLL basketball players by just putting the ball in the net. LOL honestly who ever produces your videos that segment of the clip was so unneeded. Besides that your channels gonna make it.
the wade's pass to lebron was a good pass and a high percentage shot, the basket that he missed...he just missed, but that's a good shot,he had to take it...the shot where he got blocked by chandler,he just got blocked man...he is the mvp of this series man,no question about that...and lebron is is not playing good, that's a fact,of course if he was a "nobody",we could give him the accolades for that kind of performance, but he is supposed to be the best and he is not, wade is the best...
@cricketrules509 I agree Haven't seen watching Barea too much but the similarity I see is that he is not afraid to take the ball into the paint, and even take his time in the paint, going around the world, etc, but I have yet to see him make great dishes consistently in the paint like Nash. He seems to almost always take it to the hole himself whenever he drives.
Awesome video and breakdown. Thank you so much for highlighting that the Miami Heat lost not LeBron James. I too thought that he did okay (a triple-double) but not enough out of LeBron. He needs to make the Mavs fear him.
J. J. Barea a Steve Nash type? As of now, Barea is a lesser playmaker and scorer than Nash - but then he's playing second fiddle to one of the greatest point guards of all time in Jason Kidd.
LeBron's triple-double is cool and all, but he's not only a rebounder and playmaker (and he obviously is great on both counts), he's an exceptionally able scorer. He should have acted like it and clutched.
Hey coach nick, I noticed you mentioned LeBron's block on Marion in the late 4th. But if you watch the replay, its not even close to a block. Lebron hacked Marion really bad. Any comment?
Can someone please send this video to Erik Spolstera and the Miami Heat. Great critique and breakdown of why Miami lost game 5. Question: Have Miami been going away from their set plays (double picks, hi screen etc) in the fourth quarter for most of this series? Or was it only for game 5? I haven't been able to watch the finals. Only highlights
Maybe Barea can imitate how Nash play and be better on defense. But Coach, you've got to understand that both Nash's playmaking skills AND shooting skills are of all time great level. Nash shoot on Ray Allen's level and playmake on Magic Johnson's level. I don't blame them for thinking it's a joke question.
so ur sittin here tryin play d wade becuz hes having truoble carring this team wow must be nice to just be a fuckin nerd and think u rule everything and know everything
@mrhybrantvegeta Go to my website at bballbreakdown [dot] com and you'll see the "On The Radio" Page (I'll also put it in the description in a few...)
in lebrons 8 point game in game 4, he still had 9 boards and 7 assits, plus he only took 11 shots, which shows he wasnt jaking them up once he found out he was cold. goes to show his game dosent rely on his shot like kobe wade carmelo etc.
@8MunchenBayern8 theres more to the game than scoring, what can kobe do when he cant get a shot to go down. nothing he keeps throwing more and more shots up
5:43 that Wade flop is disgusting

just look at the 12/28 SAS vs LAC...
cliper runs so many iso for Griffin, CP3, or Billups...
the spurs just do some help D and boom, that's a TO and a easy 2 at the other end for the spurs

Not to nitpick...but I'm pretty sure "Maverick" is a term for cattle and "Heat" is actually slang for a gun. Not that I give a damn about the Heat...

@illman300 I agree. the playoffs are the biggest stage... people forgot how good Chris Paul was till he pretty much singlehandedly took the Lakers to six games. Yeah, and Spo's just not that good a coach, sticking with Mike Bibby who was giving them nothing...
davybarrecks 5 months ago
@davybarrecks yeah i told a couple of people who already put rose above him that paul is still better. and after the big 3 the only guy contributing were chalmers and miller on a good day and joel anthony sometimes. idk why he didnt play eddie house more, hes a beast on the 3s and a great defender. he put up 30 the last game of the season and he still didnt play him until it was too late
illman300 5 months ago
@illman300 I used to think House was a good defender while he was on the Celtics, but these past two years he's been struggling... The thing is, he's got quick hands, but bad footspeed meaning he can't really keep up with Terry or Barea. There's a couple of game six highlights where he just can't close out on shooters. And he's not big enough to cover a posting Jason Kidd. But I admit he was a great spark in Game 6 and maybe if Spo had played him more the series would have ended differently
davybarrecks 5 months ago
@davybarrecks Dirk's too much for LBJ, that's why... he gonna end up with foul trouble.. Haslem is the guy to defend Dirk, he knows how to defend Dirk better than anybody in the Heat squad.

and you mention about the amazing block by james on marion. dont knw if u see that james tried to chase down block but terry just pull up for a wide open 13 footer on fastbreak and james is standing under the basket waiting to block
vtl0403 6 months ago
coach doesnt knw why the heat dont run the screen for lebron in crunch time cos defence would just sack off and take everything inside away and just let lebron chuck up his bricks.
vtl0403 6 months ago
Yeah, Wade was making a lot of bad decision during crunch time, But Lebron din't play like himself during the finals, its almost like hes not comfortable with Wade taking over. His 8 point game Wade seemed pissed through out that game(4th period), Lebron din't even try to take over the game like he did with the bulls, But this was bound to happen when the top 2 of the nba players get together in one team.
TheAoaf 6 months ago
It's cause wade has nothing to prove we know what he can do in the finals.
01shan001 6 months ago
Coach nick. I disagree when you said lebron made a bad decision 5:21 because if he drove by Kidd Chandler or Dirk nowitzki would've blocked the shot. I would say probably drive by kidd a little bit and free himself for mid range shot
thatniceguy23 6 months ago
MackenDaFlows 6 months ago
It's the same play you showed. The difference/result is different, not the strategy. You're picking and choosing your spots; Wade does not deserve equal blame - he shot 55% in that series, got to the line a ton, got a ton of rebounds and played great defense whenever he was on Terry.
Dirk was great but he shot 42% in the series and scored slightly under Wade's average (even with the injuries). You could argue Wade was the better player in the finals and playoffs.
MackenDaFlows 6 months ago
@MackenDaFlows Wow - I guess only a coach can see Wade's flaws then. I saw Jason Terry light the Heat up and hit crucial shot after crucial shot. And Dirk was by far the best offensive player on the court - Not. Even. Close. Clutch shot after clutch play in the most pressure filled situations possible. Wade did not perform at that level, as his turnovers and bad shots show. And the idea that you'd put LeBron behind Kobe after Kobe's performance this year is frightening.
bballbreakdown 6 months ago
@bballbreakdown He has flaws like all of us that does not change the things that he DOES do, and did throughout the 2011 playoffs. Terry did light up the Heat - just not when he was guarded by Wade. I have all these games on my DVR, look back at them; Terry did nothing against Wade.
Wade scored 18 combined points in games 4 and 5. He also had 3 blocks in those two 4th quarters. Even though they lost, he was clutch down the stretch in those games. He's the best player in the world.
MackenDaFlows 6 months ago
Kobe is allowed to lose a playoff series (he averaged over 25ppg against Dallas by the way) that doesn't erase my opinion of him.
MackenDaFlows 6 months ago
@bballbreakdown Why is it that you're the only "coach" who says Wade was half the problem? Why were people on ESPN who are paid for their opinion all over LeBron and praising Wade for keeping his team in the series, which he did, by the way. Dirk was the best player on the court, but Wade was easily the second best, and the fact that he missed a few shots and maybe had a couple mental errors doesn't outweigh the way he led that team through games where LeBron did NOTHING.
Sully12BB 4 months ago
@Sully12BB Trust me - I'm not the only coach who recognized the mistakes Wade made (you can remove the quotes from around the word coach in your comment). There were many times Wade made the whole team look bad by his shot selection and overdribbling. It's hard to argue what I'm showing you in HD - he hurt the team with those decisions. I'm sure with another year to work together, they'll iron those things out.
bballbreakdown 4 months ago
@bballbreakdown Ok you give what, 3 plays? A basketball game has almost 200 plays, and a six game series has 1200 or so. I don't think that making some errors like this is indicative of a series performance, especially considering you're the only person I've heard lay any significant blame on Wade. And not to be rude, but what are you coach of exactly? Just so I know, because to me there's a significant difference between an NBA coach and the coach of a high school team or something.
Sully12BB 4 months ago
@Sully12BB How much stock do you put in ESPN analysts? Judge this video's worth or lack thereoff on its own merits, not by comparing it to a group of people who can't be necessarily be trusted themselves.
GrapeCheckerBoard 4 months ago
@GrapeCheckerBoard All I'm suggesting is that the ESPN analysts are paid for their opinions, and played or coached in the NBA themselves in most instances. I'm generally going to trust their opinions on the thing they know best, unless I'm shown irrefutable evidence otherwise, and to me, 3 clips of Wade making questionable decisions and missing somewhat tough shots compared to LeBron being TERRIBLE for 4 of 6 games says that LeBron had more of the blame, and ESPN agrees with that opinion.
Sully12BB 4 months ago
In conclusion the Heat should have played better offense and defense. Yeah guy, that's true.
MackenDaFlows 6 months ago
Are you kidding me?
You're showing wade loosing the ball down 5 with a minute to go?????
He was doing what he - but how did they get in that DIFFICULT SITUATION??
MackenDaFlows 6 months ago
@MackenDaFlows Accept the fact that Wade torpedoed the offense by dribbling in place, wasting too much time, and allowing the defense to jam up the lane and force him into bad shots. It happens, and let's hope Wade and James and Spoelstra learn from this.
bballbreakdown 6 months ago
@bballbreakdown Wade has a ring for a reason. He played well and bravely in that game. You're searching for reasons to criticize him so as to alleviate the pain of watching who you think is the best player in the world prove that he is not the best players in the world.
MackenDaFlows 6 months ago
@MackenDaFlows You can't possibly think that I think LeBron is the best player in the world. Go back and watch my breakdowns - I criticize him as much as anybody. And Kobe was a shell of the player he had been - most likely because of injuries, but he certainly wasn't on par with the top 10 players in the league for the 2nd half of the season.
bballbreakdown 6 months ago
This is terrible. You're claims are unwarranted. You showed two identical sets, one that worked and one that didn't and said Spoelstra was unwilling to run a high screen for James.
You're a James apologist, and a bad one at that.
MackenDaFlows 6 months ago
@MackenDaFlows You've got it all wrong. I showed one set where they screen away in the corner and get a layup, and then I show how they've abandoned that to do mostly screens on the ball. And I did NOT say Spoelstra was unwilling to run a high screen for James. In fact, I said in crunch time, that's all they do!! High ball screens for Wade and LeBron, to the detriment of the Heat. Watch it again.
bballbreakdown 6 months ago
Why didn't Lebron go to College? He couldn't pass the Finals
briandater 6 months ago
wade deserves equal blame? because of a single clip of him getting blocked by an all-defensive team center? he put up huge numbers all series. i hate wade but at least i can respect his aggressiveness and will to win. lebron was posting up 38 year-old kidd and 5'9" barea and still looking to pass. he just looked passive and afraid all series.
kidd5pg 6 months ago
barea is a little white guy who can finish around the basket, but that doesn't make him steve nash. he's nowhere near as good a shooter or playmaker, and is even more of a defensive liability. he's a solid backup in this league but will never be nash-caliber. he's gimmicky and best used in short bursts. his performance against the lakers was largely due to how much attention dirk was drawing from the defense. good player, solid backup.... but that's about it.

btrballin 7 months ago
i think barea given starter minutes, could definitely be an above average pointguard in the nba. i don't think he'd be like steve nash however, simply cause i don't think he's as good as nash. he's not as good a shooter, nash is a better ball handler, and nash is a bit taller. barea would be a poor mans' nash, not that that's necessarily a bad thing

@Bballbreakdown Whats your feelings on Lebron saying, "When you wake up, you still have to face reality. You're still gonna have your personal issues. I'm still gonna have a great life"? Did he mean average blue collar workers? Or those obsessed with his failure?

Also, I agree with ya, coach. Spo's been majorly outcoached. Bibby's been terrible and so has Joel Anthony. Snipers Eddie House and Jones have been bizarrely absent for much of the series. Which baffles me as they are probably the two most reliable shooters. Why Spo is also sticking with a injured Mike Miller is mindboggling too.
davybarrecks 8 months ago
Barea is the puerto rican AI! I think part of the reason Barea is so lethal is because on the pick & roll, often the pick guy is Dirk and Barea is surrounded by three point snipers. I reckon if they dropped Kidd's minutes to 20 and raised Barea and Roddy B's mins, the Mavs would be in great shape next season with a similar offense with slashers and shooters.
davybarrecks 8 months ago
No way JJ barea can be even 1/100 of Nash.

JasonDaPsycho 8 months ago
@JasonDaPsycho WOW did you just say you can teach passion but not Court Vision are for real?
BlackOpsBallers 8 months ago

4th QTR scoring Finals
Lebron: 11 points
Wade: 40 points
Lerbon had an 8 point game, where he scored 2 on a BOGUS flop and 2 on a fast break created off a Wade steal.

i hope the mavs win tonight but miami is the home team so they getting the crucial calls down the stretch. i hope dallas can catch on fire from 3 and get a big enough lead to control the game early and put it away. i counted on miami's "1 against 5" mentality to allow them to get beat this year and its showing in every 4th quarter when they stop running plays and just swing it 2 wade on one side and then he swings it back to lebron and hopefully something good happens. team defense usually wins.
basketballfreak24 8 months ago
i see where youre coming from with the barea/nash comparisions but youre missing a key factor of nash's game. Nash is a top 5 passer in nba history. Some of the passes he makes are impossible to do even with practice. Barea is similar to nash in creating plays off the pick n roll or going behind the screen and shooting but defintely NOT on nash's level in ANY category except they both small quick point guards. i understand why u said it but i see why they dismissed your idea.
basketballfreak24 8 months ago
The only thing Barea has on Nash is his scoring ability. The strongest part of Nash's game is his court vision and his ability to make his teammates better. Barea has nothing close to that.
Raayn07 8 months ago
And notice how Coach words it: "even a LITTLE BIT of Steve Nash". Learn to listen.
chriss790 8 months ago
Unbelievable how many of u are being incredibly stupid, not even thinking why Coach Nick compares JJ to Nash. You do know that Nash averaged even 24 PPG, is that a 100% passer mentality ? Barea doesn't fear to split the defence, he doesn't fear to take and make a tough shot in the pain and knows when to pass it out to the open man and make an extra pass. It is indeed similar to Steve Nash earlier in his career(his late 20s), back when he wasn't yet a sublime utter best passer there is.

the wade's pass to lebron was a good pass and a high percentage shot, the basket that he missed...he just missed, but that's a good shot,he had to take it...the shot where he got blocked by chandler,he just got blocked man...he is the mvp of this series man,no question about that...and lebron is is not playing good, that's a fact,of course if he was a "nobody",we could give him the accolades for that kind of performance, but he is supposed to be the best and he is not, wade is the best...

I see Barea - Nash comparisons when it comes to scoring in the paint and also getting into the paint. That's vaild.
However, Nash is one of the best shooters of his generation.
Nash is also one of the best if not the best playmaker/court vision person.
Barea trails in both of these aspects by such a huge amount that the comparison fails.
cricketrules509 8 months ago
@cricketrules509 I agree Haven't seen watching Barea too much but the similarity I see is that he is not afraid to take the ball into the paint, and even take his time in the paint, going around the world, etc, but I have yet to see him make great dishes consistently in the paint like Nash. He seems to almost always take it to the hole himself whenever he drives.
