  • That stupid scream that was added ruined the movie and also parts 7 and 8 are missing..next time post the entire movie without that scream

  • roar

  • For some odd reason, both the adventurer Denham and the sailors aren't very impressed with how Kong's island is inhabited by various dinosaurs and other giant beast, aside from the throwaway line Denham says about wanting to bring back one alive (the stegosaurus), he never mentions back in New York that the island had extinct animals that survived extinction.

  • What was that creature in the beginning?

  • Where is part 7&8

  • @MrTHECLASSICPRO It was done using computers, basically.

  • @jjobie in 1980? no, they used shablones

  • @KriegDerSterne77 That is incorrect.

It was done using the Wilson-Markle colorization process, a computerized colorization technology has been in use since the 1970's.

  • @jjobie really LOL

    computers in 1970! OK

    but used for colorizations?

  • @KriegDerSterne77 Well this particular movie wasn't colorized until 1989. By that point they were definitely using the computer technique.

Here's an old article about it from the Chicago Tribune: "Colorized `King Kong` May Bug Fans - February 17, 1989|By Andy Wickstrom, Knight-Ridder Newspapers. During the initial uproar over the computer coloring of old films, cable TV magnate Ted Turner joked that he would someday have ``Citizen Kane`` converted just to irritate his critics.

  • @jjobie (continued) "``Kane`` thus far has been spared the paintbox, but Turner may get a similar stormy reaction this month when his new home video company, Turner Home Entertainment, brings out the colorized version of the original ``King Kong.`To the fantasy film buff, ``King Kong`` is as hallowed as Orson Welles`masterpiece.

  • @jjobie (continued) " Its special effects and animation techniques are as impressive today as when they first astounded audiences in 1933. The idea that color could ``improve`` upon a landmark achievement in filmmaking is bound to antagonize its most devoted audience. But before the accusations of cultural vandalism arise, let`s consider the positive side. ``Kong`` had been licensed to several video companies, but not all the versions sold in stores were worth owning.

  • @jjobie "Sometimes these video versions were made from worn or edited prints. Turner Home Entertainment promises that its new release, made from an archival print, will be the most complete ``Kong`` on cassette."

  • how did they color it?, tell me

  • this was an age when everybody thought that all dinosaurs ate meat

  • theres no prts 7 or 8, why?

  • the sound was fine in this film, the stupid Wilhelm Scream they added it in places where it was not needed. It's in the next part about 4 times in 10 min

  • stupid Wilhelm Scream

  • It 's not the Whilhelm scream, that wasn't used until the 1950s

  • @JamesTigerLee it is the Wilhelm scream. Not in the original B/W but added to the 80s color version !

  • I think we should add the scream from STAR WARS as well; just heard it again in "Legend of the Guardians"!

  • I hear that scream alot. Is it just me or is that a famous scream??

  • @bamagirl51596 It is , It's called the Willhelm Scream . Sometimes they use it for people screams or slow it down for Monster roars or growls and things like that

  • @journeyanimation1 Is it like the Goofy scream?

  • @bamagirl51596 That scream is a well known sound effect known as the Wilhelm Scream, it's been used in many films such as the original Star Wars

  • Yes, everybody knows that Brontosaurus or Brachiosaurus (whatever that is) eat people.

  • Lol, taking on a dinosaur with guns, I love it!

  • the wilhelm scream didn't exist until 1951, they added it, nice touch though

  • There are some movies that look awesome when switched to color, such as, for the most part, The Wizard of Oz. However, many parts of Kong look much better and "darker" in the original B&W. I don't know if they could even imagine back then that one day people would be able to view it in color.

  • they still have the wilhelm scream.

    or they just edit more

  • It is amazing how they made this movie during the time of the Depression.

  • i think with the colorization you can see that most of its done on a screen in black and white it seems more real

  • @majinkaori yea i can see what yu mean the color makes da hole movie look like a painting in da back round

  • god, the colorization sucks

  • @greeV429 I think they did a very good job. I've tryed colourizing a photo, and thats a really hard challenge, yet alone colourizing a whole movie frame by frame!

  • Wilhelm Scream at 2:50 LOL!!

  • @ElTuco84 what does wilhelm mean

  • ya it has the lewis gun

  • that scream at 2:50 was from lucas arts maybe thats where george got it

  • that scream isnt in the original Black and White version, whoever colourised this added that in.

  • @reddalek555 No the idiot who uploaded these videos added it in. I have the colorized version and the scream isnt in it.

  • i know its very famous

  • the classic of all classics!

  • I LOVE this movie
