  • Voyager would have been a LOT better had they avoided the whole "technobabble saves the day" solutions to every problem that hurt TNG. Without the possibility of Starfleet support or a supply refit from a Starbase, they could have made a lot of really morally grey episodes with no clear good or bad resolution. Instead, Voyager always is on the moral high ground and Janeway is always right, and the show ends up just being TNG with a new cast, when it could have been something more. Still good.

  • LOL funny comparison especially the face palm of Janeway at the end.

I haven't seen DS9 but I have seen all of Voyager multiple times and love it. I just ordered the DS9 complete dvd boxset and can't wait to start watching it now if its suppose to be better than voyager plus it looks like it was made at the same time. Compared to TNG which looks horribly dated.

  • @Hero87 words fail me, what are you like 10 years old?

  • @badgerboyUK Its true TNG does look really dated. Just look at the bridge and the holodeck when its turned off. Compare that to Voyager and DS9. Also when the Enterprise D fires its phasers the phaser beams just magically appear from the ship. There is no detail, can't see the phaser banks etc, it just seems so fake. Maybe back in the day when it first aired it would have been okay but now its pretty much unwatchable. Anyhoo this is just my opinion. Im not saying that the story of TNG isn't good

  • you have to give Voyager a fair chance. it really starts to get great after the 3rd season when we encounter the Borg and Seven of Nine comes to the show. . the bridge episodes from season 2 to 3, and also 3 to 4 are superb with lots of action. Deep Space Nine is probably better but Voyager is still friggin great. The Doctor is easily one of the greatest characters throughout the entire franchise!

  • ds9 destroys voyager. everything about ds9 was golden. voyager made me laugh but not because of good writing.

  • LOL! Love the "unbiased" video. xD I haven't seen Voyager yet, but I can't see it beating DS9 which is an amazing show. I'm planning on watching Voyager this Christmas perhaps.

  • I like Voyager and The next generation equally and consider them the best sci-fi tv shows of all time. I never liked DS9's characters which is a very important part of Star Trek. Voyagers crew and TNG's crew were the best.

  • comments are really retarded,if u come here and say ds9 was better means crap to all of us give us a dam argument. Voyager had the highest rating in trek history except TNG. most polls on startrek.com clearly show that voyager was the second most loved trek by fans. the acting in ds9 was horrible u clearly see its all fake, when it comes to emotions and reactions. like it or not voyager was far better then ds9 in the eyes of the public.

  • @miloootic actually many critics consider DS9 to be "the best acted, written, produced and altogether finest" Star Trek series. Voyage was nothing but mad writing, plot holes & 2-d characters.

  • @brooklyn560 lol go visit strek dot com and check the polls made in 3 years.

    1-tng

    2-voy

    3-ds9

    4-enterprise

    get ur facts right.

  • @miloootic the ds9 cast have acted in plenty more well known movies since the making of ds9, compared to voyager. such as avery brooks in American History X, and alexander siddig in kingdom of heavan. the acting in ds9 was more real, and the episodes didn't always have a happy ending like voyager did.

  • @babyMx3 yes sure but that means nothing, any person with an iq above 50 would have to say that obrien/sisko were the worst actors ever...evrything they say and do from season 1 till the end is just plain fake. happy ending??? how is ds9 not a happy ending?

  • @miloootic Any person with an iq above 50 would learn how to spell properly. And by the end of ds9, everyone went their own ways. Friends were seperated, sisko left jake, odo and kira were also seperated. i wouldn't exactly call that happy. and how are obrien and sisko the worst actors ever?

  • @babyMx3 oh pls learn how to spell???im not English get over yourself.they won the freaking war, despite them saying repeatedly the amount of casualties they were sitting in their seats and blowing up every ship.ask any actor/director you know, what he thinks of O'Brien/sisko acting, you'll get what i mean.the increased tonality, the way they talk and stall words it was just humiliating for an actor to be that fake.

  • @miloootic get over myself!? get over yourself, your the one trying to convince everyone that your right, and that ds9 sucks. well im sorry buddy, but we're all entitled to our own opinion. and its just a bloody tv show. your obviously taking it too personal. time to get a life i think.

  • @babyMx3 im not taking this too personal i enjoyed all trek series and a fan of ds9.im mad coz this vid is disgusting.

  • @miloootic aaaahh, i see. i thought you were just dissing on ds9. and im like, its not that bad. but yeah, this vid is pretty bad. i do like ds9 better, but voyager is still a good show.

  • The writing on Voyager was just not as smart...

  • Part VII

Now no Voyager fan has heard enough arguments so far to leave his point of view, but frankly such people seem utterly unexperienced in the television business and I'll leave it to themselves to discover the differences by watching other shows and by watching DS9 or to die believing Voyager was great. It is the same to me. I just wanted the by me perceived truth to be out there.

  • Part VI

But while DS9 shows rather interesting entanglements which have some relevance for our actual lives, Voyager is satisfied with absolute horrendous patterned characters and a few equally patterned developments to make the whole thing seem more vivid.

  • Part V

Don't get me wrong, DS9 is full of unbelievable characters as well, but not even closely to the extend Voyager is. First – Star Trek IS unbelievable characters, Nothing new. The very concept of Star Trek are Characters who grow beyond what humanity is today and hence who seem unbelievable nowadays.

  • Part IV

DS9 is in deed far superiors over voyager. Now that does not mean that one hast to be more stupid or one has to lack “sophisticated” taste to lake Voyager over DS9, it is a mere observation of the complexity and the effort gone into making the show worthwhile (and yes, in this aspect Voyager clearly looses, even though fans of the show will have a hard time to admit it). Simply put: Voyager is a world of simple relations and well... unbelievable characters.

  • PART III

Television shows are at the very least nowadays too complex and diverse to pinpoint judgment at such superficial aspects even horribly bad shows can claim today.

The actually worthwhile discussion moves a lot deeper, too deep for youtube I am afraid, but I'll give it a quick try anyway.

  • PART II

Well yea, DS9 was far from perfect in the vague categories of television such as "character development" and Voyager wasn't all bad in those. However, such discussion moves way beyond a meaningful judgment of what makes one series better than the other, because such categories are way, I have to repeat ,way too crude to serve this purpose.

  • PART I

I read the comments of this vid and see a lot of crap. "Voyager had also character development" I read somewhere and elsewhere I read "Worf was grumpy when he was introduced and grumpy on season 7" (this only reflects in content a part of the of the comment).

  • very well made vid

  • I could never sit through DS9, it made me antzy. I watched Star Trek because it was about exploration, DS9 never did eny exploring really. They were just stuck at a space station where aliens had to come to them to make it interesting. It also dwelled too much on the Bajoran, one of my least favorite species (mainly because Ensign Ro ruined it for me). Although Voyager did have a partially Maqui crew, one of the great things about the show was that everyone solidified as Starfleet.

  • @OctoberIncursion ds9 best trek series fact!

  • @OctoberIncursion "Although Voyager did have a partially Maqui crew, one of the great things about the show was that everyone solidified as Starfleet."

And you think thats a good thing ? Thats like someone going up to a holocaust survivor and saying

"I know we all had our problems in the past but at least we solidified as sons and daughters of a christian god"

the federations choice to fuck the Cardassian border colonies over is the sole reason they became the marquis in the first place.

  • If you can overlook the vast multitude of minor inconsistencies and issues with VOY's writing, and accept it for the unserialized show that it was, it's a great show. It's random eps are better than the random eps of the others, for the most part. But when it comes to comparing these two shows, the very fact that DS9 was a serious, serialized show w/ consistent writing automatically makes it better than VOY. IMO, DS9 is the best Trek, and VOY is the 2nd best.

  • @Semirhage666 what inconsistencies? u keep saying that without stating any solid arguments....

  • Voyager falls short due to its quite often shoddy writing. Characters would vary quite dramatically from episode to episode, there was an extreme lack of character development, and the series was far too episode-of-the-week. It was also nowhere near as dark as the setting should have dictated that it be. Take Year of Hell for instance. It should have been drawn out for at least 5 or 6 episodes without a reset button.

  • @Semirhage666 what the hell are u talking about?character development?????it was there,it was gradual.u need to watch season 1,.they gave time to every cast member (faces=belana,jetrel=neelix,cathexis=chakotay......etc u need to watch the series before u talk) in it also showed us in many other episodes about their past and how their personalities formed and about who they are.

  • @miloootic I have every season of both shows on DVD and have watched every episode at least twice. I didn't say there was NO character development, I said there wasn't as much as there should have been, which is generally considered to be a fact in the Trek community at large. VOY had maybe 1 or 2 episodes for Harry or B'elanna a season, DS9 had ENTIRE EPISODES that focused on and developed background characters.

  • @Semirhage666 what r they supposed to do? make evry episodes about the characters bio?lol

  • @TheEntryCode You might want to check out confusedmatthiew's take on deep space nine. In a nut shell it is this, as a serious sci fi TV snow it was awsome, but as a Star Trek show it fell short.

  • My dad always said Deep Space Nine was the dullest crap produced by Star Trek. But I keep hearing how amazing it is on Youtube. So either you guys are really hard core trekkers with little imagination or DS9 is worth watching.

  • @pmack169 Tom went from being a headstrong rebel with a chip on his shoulder to a fun loving individual who formed various relationships among the crew particularly Harry and B'elanna. We learned he has a passion for 20th century Earth history which grows throughout the series, not to mention forming a family with B'elanna which matured him as much as Sisko in later seasons.

P.S. Seven's outfit was no more revealing than Kira's, and significantly less than Leeta's.

  • @pmack169 How the hell is the Dr. even remotely the same character he was in season 1.

In that season he was stern, dispassionate and distant from the crew and a lot of them treated him as nothing more than a piece of equipment. Over time he became a kind-natured individual who developed numerous talents and hobbies and was treated as a valued member of the crew, whether throwing him a celebration or teaching him a lesson (Author, Author) yet still longed to pursue beyond his limitations.

  • @pmack169 The Doctor, Seven of Nine, Tom, B'elanna, Kes grew, changed and developed through individual courses and inter-relationships of various natures.

Quark? Selfish, greedy schemer with a deep seated heart of gold in season 1, Selfish, greedy schemer with a deep seated heart of gold in season 7.

Jadzia? Immature twit with virtually no signs of having 7 lifetimes of experience in season 1, Immature twit with virtually no signs of having 7 lifetimes of experience in season 7.

  • Comment removed

  • @SquareMaster316 Worf? Self-depreciating, opera loving warrior in season 4, Self-depreciating, opera loving warrior in season 7.

O'brien: The Harry Kim of DS9, 'nuff said.

Kira? Temperamental, Cardassian hating thug in season 1, you get the idea.

I'm not saying that pound for Pound, the Voyager cast had AS MUCH character development as DS9, but to say it was completely absent in every character throughout the series is ridiculous.

  • @SquareMaster316 cont'd

Worf? Self-depreciating, opera-loving warrior in season 4, self depreciating, opera-loving warrior in season 7.

Kira? Violent, temperamental rebel in season 1, you know the rest

O'brien: The Harry Kim of DS9

I'm not saying that, pound for pound, DS9's cast didn't have more development overall than Voyager, but to say that Voyager lacked any at all is ludicrous..

  • You just had to do that didn't you? I can't choose between the two. They're both my absolute favorites. LOL!!!!

  • @pmack169 And yet 7 was still a more interesting character than about 90% of ds9 with only Odo and maybe Bashir rivaling her.

  • they both have appeal to them but that is kind of how voyager went

  • My response to this video: I agree.

  • Its sad because Voyager had potential to be more than just a TNG rehash. I liked Caretaker much more than Emissary. Seska was a misused villain. Voyager didnt need as many Q episodes as it had. And even though DS9 had a few too man Mirror universe episodes, they were still handled better than the way over ututilized Borg.

  • each star trek series was unique in it's own right. i enjoyed them all equally. i just wish "Q" would have made an appearance on enterprise.

  • three transphasic torpedos and ds9 is toast

  • For the people who constantly attack DS9 for not being about exploration, it was. It was about exploring humanity for what it is, without any idealist rubbish getting in the way of making that point. People are flawed, and DS9 is the only Star Trek show that made flawed characters, but didn't condemn them as bad guys for it. I will admit the seventh season strayed from that idea, but it was a consistent theme throughout the series.

  • DS9 is great.

  • Chuck Norris kicks both their asses.

  • ds9 kicks ass

  • It's not a close call at all. DS9 is vastly superior. It's a great character-driven drama, while Voyager is probably one of the best examples of hack-writing I can think of. I'm not going to lie, I like the Voyager characters, even Neelix occasionally, but their stories lacked good dialogue, consistency and anything even remotely resembling common sense. Not to mention to technobabble was awful.

  • DS9, no way around it. And I believe the music was there to imply this. Perhaps even influence the vote, though in my cases and, I'm sure, most others, it wasn't necessary.

I've got nothing against VGR, I still watch it every so often and there are a fair number of episodes I truly enjoy, especially from the third, fourth, and fifth seasons. It also benefits from a good deal of sentimental value since I have so many fond memories tied up in it. But it's just not in the same league as DS9.

  • So true

  • which name from first song that is played

  • @GhostAndDarknesss Johnny Quest intro theme.

  • That music is from Swat cats i think, a really really old cartoon

  • DS9 and Voyager are toss ups. Neelix is the Jar Jar Binx of Star trek imo, and Sisko is the biggest noob captain/authority figure I've ever seen on television.

Dax is alright, that's about it for DS9. Voyager has Seven and Icheb who are awesome, they also have Tuvok who would be more cool if he didn't get owned so much. DS9 has a wicked battle with the Dominion and Voyager scrapes by against the Borg but has an amazing ending. However, neither hold a candle to TNG. The greatest Trek ever!

  • Very nice. :) Made me laugh, and it's very true.

  • I would say DS9 hands down, like people stated it's got depth and it evolves.

Voyager could have been so much more (one thing that really got me about the writers was that no matter what situation or circumstancce the ship encountered one of the command crew (main cast) would 90% of the time know about it) for example I think it was the episode were they found the people from earths past (the 69'ers or something) Tom instantly knew what a car was when everyone else was like err??????

  • Nice *attempt* at making DS9 look better.. but it's just not. Voyager FTW!

  • DS9 HAS MORE TALENT IN ONE BAD EPISODE THEN VOYAGER HAS IN ALL 7 SEASONS

  • @welker831 FUCK YEAH CAPS LOCK!!!!!

Seriously though, episodes like "Let He Who is Without Sin" and "Profit and Lace" were easily as bad as Threshold. Whereas Scorpion, Lineage, Life Line and The Thaw rivaled Trials and Tribble-ations, Duet, The Visitor and In the Pale Moonlight

  • DS9 didn't have any annoying characters like in TNG(shut up Wesley) and Voyager(the annoying Neelix moment). I'd take ten Kai Winns rather than a single (shut up) Wesley. I liked the Quark family too, and they are all Ferengi!

  • voyager kackt ja mal sowas von ab gegen ds9

  • whats the music playing for the DS9 part of the video?

  • voyager is better.....

  • How can Deep space nine be the best trek ever when it wasent even star trek? and id take neelix over that kira bitch any day.

  • @prestruction ds9 was not a trek. trek is about exploration on a ship, while ds9 was about stealing a space station from the cardassians and then camping there for 7 seasons. Sure ds9 had good character development...of course that is all the show can do when there is no action and you are stuck on a freaking space station. the defiant is not the most powerful ship yet ds9 nerds think it so....if ds9 was so good on the station why create a ship? answer..because ds9 sucked

  • @xxxxxxpimptaddyone are you forgetting that they discovered the worm whole that lead to the Gamma quadrant being explored. Also the reason why they made the Defiant was so that they could protect the station and they used it to explore the Gamma quadrant. Plus you forget Voyager made the Delta flyer. Whats makes DS9 great is the war against the Dominion was an epic battle to save the Alpha quadrant. Plus DS9 characters have more depth and you get to see them grow.

  • @JRAV03DJE voyager was the true successor to TNG

ds9 was just a spinoff that didn't work on many levels.

  • @xxxxxxpimptaddyone have to disagree with you there. Voyager did'nt have characters with same depth and intrest as DS9. The only characters that were really intresting on Voyager were Tuvok and Chakoety. Thats why they got Jeri Ryan to play as Seven of Nine to boost the shows ratings and when she came on board half the epsiodes in the rest of the seasons were mainly based on or around her. Plus Janeway did'nt have half the backbone that Sisko had.

  • @JRAV03DJE First, kira was a smokin hot piece of ass. She was hot like ryan. Secondly, Torres and paris were good characters.

Trek is about exploration and ds9 didnt explore shit.

  • @xxxxxxpimptaddyone yes Kira was but she had far more depth in her character plus Odo being in love with her and eventually ending up being with her in a relationship was amazing. You see Sisko start off as a Commander who did'nt want to be at DS9 and wanted to end his career in Starfleet but ended up loving what he did again and making it to Captain. Garak was a fascionating character as well as he was so unpredictable not to mention dangerous. Also DS9 explored the Gamma quadrant.

  • @JRAV03DJE if you think 7 of 9 lacked depth then you didn't watch the show.

  • DS9 is much better as Voy

  • Unbiased my ass :[

  • DS9 is the best Trek show.

  • DS9 >>>>> VOY

  • voy ftw. people should remember some of the best 2 parts ep in star trek history like year of hell/equinox/unimatrix 0/dark frontier/scorpion... a ship lost 70 thousand lightyears away from home.....tht alone is original and amazing plus the defiant looks like a cereal box and the intrepid is by far the best looking ship they created.

  • DS9 is the best show ever

  • I would say they are both better...than this lazy video which is nothing but a bunch of stolen videos cut together. Nice Benny music though.

  • hay voyager had transphasic torpedos, deploibal ablatif hull armor and uss promefias

  • I hate DS9. The best Star Trek is TNG. Picard, Data, Riker, Borg, Q....

  • Deep Space Nine stole almost all its species from TNG - Voyager, however, was almsot completely original, aside from the Borg and the occasional guest appearance of a Cardasian, Bajoran or Klingon.

Deep Space 9 is a let down.

  • @YanxaW LMAO VOY races SHOULD have been more original, since they were in the freaking DELTA QUADRANT, but in fact were the very definition of unoriginal and derivative (apart from the Vidiians and the race 8472, and VOY still managed to screw up the latter in their final appearance). Every other races was a variant of what we've seen before, only worse.

  • @nightandday Hardly!

The Delta Quadrant races were original - DS9 had the Gamma Quadrant, yet their races were naff! The only decent race in it was the Jem'Hadar.

Voyager was the single best Star Trek since TNG.

    Simple as.

  • @YanxaW yep. ds9 was a cheap babylon 5 ripoff. I place tng as the best with a very close second being the OS. voyager is third best and the best trek on tv since 1994.

ds9 is better than enterprise and ranks 4th but enterprise was horrible so that is not saying much . ds9 had boring characters, the same plot every season of cardassians and dominion attacking. a space station with a commander in charge at the start....count me out.....

  • @xxxxxxpimptaddyone Yes! Now that is what I'm talking about! :-D

  • Deep Space Nine is much better. But The next Generation is the best Star Trek series.

  • well i guess we can see where your allegiances ally

  • DS9 wins!!! ;)

  • Voyager was everything embarassing about Star Trek [technobabble to solve problems, poor character development, events with no longterm consequences, etc.] and DS9 was everything strong [moral ambiguity, great characters, ass kicking, story arcs, etc.].

  • I have to say, I loved the music when the video got to voyager. Deep Space Nine is way better in my personal view. Voyager was alright but it lacked something. And Janeway had an annoying voice.

  • its funny in the big bang theory they never talk about voyager or the new enterprise. because they both suck!

  • TNG = VOY = DS9 > TOS > ENT

Is the eye better than the ear, or the foot better than the hand?

They are all excellent parts to the S.T. body.

TOS is lower because the series was not as well developed as the newer shows...

ENT is at the bottom because most of their acting was just plain bad.

  • The shows ran semi-parallel to one another and were able to do so because they appealed to different demographics. If you liked one better than the other, it's most likely because it was written purposefully to appeal to you.

I find it amusing that those who liked the War Saga genre seem to be the majority of those promoting this little Trek War.

  • @SpitefulCrow84 I am a new Trek fan, I am trying to understand why the same company would make two different series at the same time so they over lap? If you would be so kind as to explain I would really appreciate that. Thank you in advanced.

  • DS9 > TNG > TOS > ENT > VOY

  • Here's how I rank the Star Trek series to date (please don't hate me for this...it's just my personal preference):

    1--TOS/TNG (awesome!)

    2--DS9 (about as good!)

    3--Voyager (mediocre at best)

    4--Enterprise (abominable...not worth my time).

  • Enterprise was better in it's third and 4th seasons.

The 4th season in particular is far better than all 7 seasons of Voyager, minus "These are the Voyages" written by B&B as a big F U to the dedicated trek fans who saw through their B.S. with Voyager and the 1st two seasons of Enterprise.

  • Other than the corney music over voyager, I don't see your point. You could have found some pretty ridiculous clips from voyager (Like when tom and janeway turned into lizards) and that would have made it more obvious.

I like them both but slightly prefer voyager

  • I actually prefer Voyager over DS9. I like them both.

  • I tend to chop and change but I think I more of a Niner than a Voyager. I love both though and to be honest, they are so very different - one on a space station, the other a starship, one with all the resources Starfleet has to call on, the other with nothing but themselves, one with one hell of a war, the other with passing (though dangerous) threats...and that's just the superficial stuff.

  • As much as I love DS9. I still prefer VOY despite the fact you've put funny music. I think the clips you've chosen were very capturing.

  • ds9 is beter

  • Far far better. :)

  • I like all Trek and have seen them all from beginning to end. Voyager is my favorite.

I think Voyager is best is because I like the overarching story of a crew working to get home. They were the ship that was never supposed to be important (within the story) and through their trial, they became one of the greatest ships in the fleet.

I also found the characters to be more compelling on Voyager. DS9 had it's Dominion war arc, but compared to the seven year journey on Voyager, it's forced.

  • I do enjoy the occasional episode of Voyager... but Deep Space Nine (and TNG for that matter) are clearly superior.

But while plenty of Voyager's character's were completely bland, static, and uninteresting (Paris, Kim, 7, Kes, at times even Chacotay and Janeway) (For the record I did like The Doctor and Tuvok)...

In Deep Space Nine... they have a little something, perhaps you have heard of it, called CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.

I could rant on why, but It would quickly get into spoilers.

  • The only character development on that show was the Doctor and Seven of Nine.

Deep Space Nine, everyone on the crew had character development, even the villains and supporting actors like Rom, Nog, Jake, and Keiko!

  • Completely false.

Remember Paris was transformed from a rougue into a responsible Starfleet office and husband/father.

The Maquis needed much time to become Starfleet personnel.

  • @stchman "The Maquis needed much time to become Starfleet personnel." o0 i quess we have watched different shows, in mine version the got communicators right from the start, and became comform with Janeway's way of thinking and handling situations, sometimes Chacotay tried to grow a pair, but with no consequences. Btw everyone who want to know why the show was just bad, i recomend to watch SFDeries reviews on youtube

  • Everybody has an opinion.

  • Don't forget the great character development for the other great guest star character such as Gul Dukat, Kai Winn, Garak, General Martok.

DS9 was a very character driven show, you actually cared about the characters, you felt something in common which atleast 1 thing about each character and actually connected with them to care in anyone died.

I personally couldn't connect to any of the Voyager characters, especially Janeway who acted more like a snobby aristocrat for the entire series.

  • @AlphaBetaParkingLot Please, spare me....Year of Hell was easily the best two-parter in Star Trek history

  • @Dalbert342 better then "The Best of Both Worlds"? I think not!

  • @AlphaBetaParkingLot You forgot to mention bland-ness+horridity Neelix.

  • @AlphaBetaParkingLot you hit the nail right on the head. Agree with you 100%

  • Despite the inhumorous music... I still prefer Voyager!

  • Deep space nine!!!! It's the best show EVER!!

  • oh! and i thought ds9 was blow-my-brains-out boring for the first few seasons until the war started. maybe those who found ds9 difficult to get through gave up near the beginning?

  • agreed (with the "fair & unbiased" change of soundtrack on your video!). ds9 does rock (for so many reasons; character dev, alien races, finer details of the federation universe, the consistency of suspension of disbelief, the pace of the war, sfx, etc), but... voyager had its moments too. i enjoyed the moral/philosophical issues and the classy hepburnesque kate mulgrew, who single-handedly held the ensemble together. both shows are in my top 5 sci-fi classics. now, enterprise... meh.

  • I think it depends on your entry point into the Trek universe. For me Voyager was the first trek show I had ever watched so it makes sense that I would be a little protective of it, hence my comment two months ago . That said, I am glad I gave DS9 a chance. It took an entire season but once I saw the episode Necessary Evil I was hooked. DS9 had better character development and cooler villians but both shows were great! This video doesnt do either of them justice.

  • you sound like you know what you're talking about, but i'm not going to force myself through an entire season of complete crap just to get to something enjoyable. I loved Voyager, but what i have watched of DS9 is so boring it's painful. So that's why i probably won't watch DS9 any time this decade even though i've watched most of everything else

  • Urgh - DS9 Sucks! I've watched 3 seasons so far and they're dreadful!

Voyager is definately the best of all the ST shows. By far!

  • TNG and Ds9 are rated as the two best Trek series. Anyone who like Star Trek knows Deep Space Nine is the most important series out of the five. Characters are much deeper and storyline is much more intense than Voyager of TNG for that matter.

By not watching Ds9, you are missing the biggest war in Federation history.

You are missing the biggest part of Star trek...

  • Don't get me wrong - I'm watching DS9, but it just doesn't feel right. The storiesa re so weak "Oh no, the Cardassians have done something to trigger a self-destruct sequence yet again. Whatever will I do."

Voyager had great characters, the best damn ship in the galaxy and a beautiful Captain.

    Voyager ftw!

  • @YanxaW, you opinion will change as you begin to watch The Dominion war unfold.

The Defiant would own any Intrepid class...not only that. In Ds9, the characters are deep. They actually have relationships and problems and grow after every episode. (something TNG and Voyager have never been able to accomplish)

  • Well, that's yet to be seen ;)

I've rec ieved your link, and I'll try and watch it tonight.

The Intrepid looks so much classier, and definately more sexy than the Defiant.

    Guess it's just personal taste.

    :)

  • Hope you do. Ds9 is about the biggest war in Federation history. You learn so much more about the Klignons, Romulans, Cardassians and the Dominion. You also learns what happens to the Maquis and how they are eliminated.

Voyager is much classier than the Defiant.

However, the Defiant is a Warship, built to battle the Borg...it could take on Voyager very easily.

  • how the fuck can a spaceship look sexy?

  • Ask your mom

  • @YanxaW rofl at first i thought you were responding to my other comment, comparing DS9 to having a child in an epic and brilliant way.

then i realized you were just babbling bullshit that doesn't mean anything. what a letdown.

  • That's not even a remotely unbiased presentation. I personally have tried to get through Voyager a number of times and find the show pretty unwatchable. I've jumped forward in the series a couple times hoping that I'll get past the crappy parts...but no luck. I've given up on Voyager even though I'd like to see the Borg plot played out. For me, DS9 is the best of the 4 sequel Star Trek series.

  • "you decide"? with the shit of music-overlay at the voyaer part you made a decision for all viewers. Get a brain you fool, somebody should remove this crappy video!

If you're asking this way, the correct answer to you main-question is that both series, Voyager and DS9 are the BEST TREK ever.

  • i no thies songs but i cant plae a name on them

  • Voyager because of the Borg, what DS9 should have done was try to form an alliance with the Dominion using the Borg as their main reason cause the Borg are enemies of everyone, I wonder if the Dominion knows about the Borg....

  • DS9 showed that the Borg are not necessary to have a good show. Voyager used the Borg as a crutch.

  • DS9 had the better bad guys anyway.

That's what Robert Hewitt Wolf said and I agree.

He said they weren't allowed to use the Borg in DS9 for a bad guy, so they invented The Dominion.

Another bad point against Voyager, because of their use of "The Maquis" the producers weren't alllowed to kill off the Maquis, even though they were introduced in DS9..

But I'm DS9 bias anyway, I loved all the Trek apart from Voyager, I hated Enterprise when it first began, but Coto did a great job with S3&4.

  • VERY unbiased ^^

  • LOL!

  • I cant seem to stay awake for any of the DS9 episodes...I fall asleep halfway through...somehow I didnt have that problem when I watched Voyager, I was always on the edge of my seat, ready to see what Janeway would do next...she was awesome and more importantly she was a real character....Sisko was way too stuffy. If I were choosing, it would be Voyager all the way, DS9 a lagging second.

  • How far did you watch? The first two seasons are pretty boring. It picks up after that.

  • For me, DS9 is better (better acting from the main cast, better acting from the gusst stars, a lot better and consistent writing than that on voyager etc). That being said, I don't agree with people who say Voyager "sucked" in every way; I got through it without skipping any episodes and I found it entertaining many times, even with all it's faults, shoddy scripts and lack of character development for half of it's main cast in order to allow Seven & The Doctor to hog up all the screen time.

  • @Nimiety327 Are you serious? You bring up DS9 needing Worf to boost ratings?! Is this supposed to be some pathetic attempt to defend Voyager? You seem to forget that Voyager needed Jeri Ryan in a skin tight outfit to survive cancellation after the ratings took a huge nose dive (it took the disastrous show thet was Enterprise to beat Voyager's record low ratings). Worf's addition helped improve an already quality show, whereas Ryan's helped save a mediocre (albeit not horrid as some say) one.

  • While I do vote for DS9 I think that they had one advantage over Voyager, which allows for more indepth character development, syndicatoin. Voyage had to answer to the networks after ever episode. DS9 was able to come out the shadow of TNG with a built in , they lost some of the following, audience. Same with Enterprise and the networks. Star trek only great success has come from syndication, whether original programming or reruns. It doesnt belong on Network televison for first run.

  • DS9 was an adventurous drama, while Voyager was a dramatic adventure

  • Voyager is by far the best. DS9 was just a rip off show trying to compete with Babylon 5 but in my opinion failed to compete in storyline. So what is best, a Babylon 5 clone or a series of what Trek does best ....Exploration and combat?

  • Babylon 5 copied DS9.

  • It's true - I read it on an official website - they said they had to create something to compete with babylon 5 and as they had turned down the script for babylon 5 some time earlier they thought they would use that idea! Official! So you sad sacks who gave me thumbs down for saying the truth can 'kiss my shiny metal ass'!

  • Do you have an actual link to this supposed confession? Cuase as far as I am concerned J. Michael Straczynski was just bitter then his series was horrible acted out and overall DS9 was a better written show.

  • Both are good but I must say...Ds9 all the way ! : D

  • one thing I need to say is why did you use great music in the ds9 and jokeing music in voyager as if voyager was a joke? I like all star treks but if I had to give an order it would be

    1. Voyager

    2. The Next Generation

    3. Deep Space 9

    4. 1st season of TOS

    5. Enterprise

    6. 2ed and 3rd season of TOS

So what do you think? but by far voyager kick the crap out of the other seasons. I think it has the most crossovers to. TNG and Ds9 and TOS are referenced.

  • Because he was sending you a not so subtle message that voyager sucks, which of course I totally disagree with.

  • Voyager is the best Trek ever made! Hell yea- Voyager all the way! Voyager is most like the original Star Trek in that they truly went 'where no one has gone before' into uncharted waters into a region of space never explored before. TNG and DS9 mostly stayed in the Alpha Quadrant and building on the foundation of the orignal. Bajoran religion? Emissary? The Dominion? I liked Janewayt and Seven of Nine better, the BORG are really Voyager's enemy.
