Your comment is very poorly thought out in my opinion. Firstly you say that "It's the same damage either way" - why comment on it then if the lines of play are equal EV? The fact is that you can't evaluate it as you don't know how many future attacks the idol will get in. If you listen to the commentary you can note that I said its not all about numbers and i would prefer a reset idol to the two guaranteed damage as this makes me less vulnerable to contagion clasp/instill infection etc.
Why did you bounce idol? As far as dmg goes you tap the censer and bounce it with glint hawk. It's the same dmg either way. Bouncing the idol does nothing.
