No I seperated them from Mom at about 5 and a half weeks and let the father take care of the babies with some supervised visits from mom because the mother had been plucking the babies and wasn't being nice.
I guess I should have added that I let the father stay with them untill they were almost 8 weeks old and then they were housed in a cage of their own alongside their parents cage.
Well they were getting little snacks from Mom and Dad up till last week when the youngest finally got sick of his parents and no longed wanted to be fed by them.
I had to seperate them at 8 weeks because they were being picked on by the father.Glad they are all big and healthy as can be now, that will definately be the last clutch they get to have for a while.
Well ...Annie is on eggs now but they're falsies so >=pI tried everything I could aside from Lupron to get her not to lay darn her!
I guess I should have been more specific when I said I sperated them,I seperated them at night so they had seperate cages to sleep in.During the day they were free to hang out with their parents outside of the cages.I just couldn't let them sleep with the parents because they were picking on the babies during the night.
Oh well it doesn't sound like they would have been the best homes for the babies afterall and I know I will find a good home for them even if it takes a little longer then expected.
On the bright side baby one found his way to a great home and is now named Pippin and spoiled rotten!
*had to make an extra post because mine was too long I guess lol
Ya I still have four of five,I had planned to keep one and had homes lined up for all but the youngest and then two of the people who were lined up for the babies decided to get non tame lovebirds from the pet store because I guess they were only selling for $30 or something like that.
They are already so bonded to you! They are going to be such sweet babies! I think I acidentally rated 3 stars instead of 5, I'm sorry. My hand slipped, it's hard to type with a lovebird on your hand! ;-) Hope it came out 5 stars, it won't show me...
