Just like in real life, the viewer is left at this point mourning something that seems to be really gone. Not the love between them but the innocent, exhilerated pure first part of it, before any wounds or scars.

The amazing thing is that the writers and TG and GF managed to create a relationship that was so innocent and fresh and full of idealism from a beginning in rape!

@sueluvu When Luke went on the run the disco was sold to Susan Moore. It was not owned by Luke, it was owned by Frank Smith, he just ran it.. and umm.. not thinking those people want to do any favors for him!

It is genuinely painful to see Luke's face so closed off and shut down like this. TG actually makes his face look altered in the way experiencing real depression would. And frankly Laura looks different as well. With her it could partially be hair and make up but no, it's the look on her face too, the little girl "take care of me, protect me Daddy" look is gone now.

I'm of the opinion that Laura had technically broken her marriage vows with Scott before she even had sex with Luke. During their summer on the run, she told Luke many times that she loved him, danced with him, kissed him, and expressed her desire to marry him all while still wearing her wedding ring. With all of this being said, she is not a tramp - I can't believe how much Scott saying that affected her.

I think she had a lot of risudual hang ups from the DAvid Hamilton mess... she was SO young, and had an affair with this much older man, who made her feel like a jerk... It's more like Scott putting words to how she feels about herself... not just him. JMHO.

@karenone2 if you do a search for gh 1978 or general hospital 1978, there are some of older clips with the first Rick and the first Monica and a couple of david hamilton , but only as a guest in the Webber house. Theres nothing about the murder and the trial. There is also 2 weeks from Nov. 1978 of complete episodes, theres the Christmas episode and also other misc. clips + The Lassa Fever 1979 clips. I watched all of these along with these L&L beginning

@320dufferin Thanks! I remember the Lassa Fever storyline, that must have been when I started watching. Laura was on probation so the David Hamilton storyline must have just ended.

I don' t understand why Luke doesn't realize that Laura is cheating on her husband by sleeping with him and having him pressuring her into it. Even though Laura loved Luke, it was right that she kept her marriage vows. He should have respected her for it. After all, he practically forced her to run away with him.

Convention and Luke never really went together.He knows that she loves him and wants him. I think it doesn't make no sense to him having a comitment to a formallity (like marriage), as opposed to a person.Hhe knows it is not Scott between them. If she had feeling for Scott, I think it would be different. He has said that it is the fact that Scott called her a tramp that is between them, and that makes no sense to him.

He knows she's not whatever a "tramp" is, and doesn't understand why it affects her so much.

It's kinda true that Luke tended to smirk at morality for morality's sake. Laura, however, tried to hold on to traditional moral values even being with Luke all those years. Luke's callousness did rub off on her a bit though and thus split-personality Laura emerged in her later years. The Cassadine/Nik stuff revealed that nicely.

Well, to me it just reeks of "plot point" = separation and then final reunion. "yawn" this story deserved better than that. We all get that Luke is a hot head but really, him whining that he couldn't get in on with her and how dare she not have sex with him? No wonder Laura was conflicted at the end.
