Wow! Wasn't Troup the state's best Class A high school band in the 70s? Those were tough marches for us in '81 at Bryan (AAAA in the 70s). They sound better here. The drumming is really fast, too.
Val is retired. His son is director where he retired from, in Nederland. The tradition continues. Val's grandson is a music major at Lamar University, in Beaumont.
I never wanted to be in the band back in '65, but I remember being in Study Hall at Sparta High and watching them out the window on the Football Field.
