Yes, church and state should be separate - but it's just as close-minded for people to deny gay marriage as it is for people ignorant of the true Christian faith to post absolute garbage like this on the internet, and it's completely hypocritical for you to judge every single church in the Nation with the same generalizations that homosexuals have been fighting for years. It takes everyone a step back; and it's a slap in the face for those Christians who spend their time supporting gay marriage.
But if you illegalize gay marriage then soon straight marriage will be in danger! And then what? Slippery slopes slip both ways. Marriage is an agreement made between two people legally able to consent so that kinda excludes children dogs and corpses along with all non-setient creatures or things.
Why does fucking bigot get the top comment? And why the hell do people call him "progressive" when he says homosexuality is "wrong"? Does it harm anyone? Fascist.

@alextsuname - well while this video is in the spirit of inclusion and tolerance, wouldn't you imagine that the characters in the sketch WOULD use the slur "tranny" instead of being so politically correct?
Most of the folks on the anti-gay marriage side of the issue are opposed to the idea of gay couples taking part in the religious ceremony. But this happens all over the country already, and no law is going to change that. The law only concerns the couple's status in regard to interacting with the government. I'm in favor of the government recognizing gay marriage; I would never attend a church that would perform or recognize a gay marriage.
@SOAHCSOAHCSOAHC Unfortunately, in America, marriage provides more benefits than a civil union. If they were equivalent, more people would choose the legal ceremony over the religious one.
@Alysaria That's also very true, and I don't approve of that. If I start talking about this too much, my libertarian streak is going to come out. I don't believe the government should be involved in marriage or unions of any kind. If you want to adopt children or name someone as a beneficiary on your insurance, the government shouldn't be stopping you whether you're married, "unioned" or not. The fight over marriage stems from egregious government overstepping in other areas.
@SOAHCSOAHCSOAHC While there are areas that having government funding is a benefit, I would agree that it's overstepped its bounds. The cold war just blurred the line between church and state so much that it's gotten tough to separate the two without getting people's panties all up in a bunch.
Even though personally I think homosexuality is wrong I don't think it's right to make homosexual marriage illegal. Just because a lot of people disagree with it doesn't mean it should be illegal. A lot of people disagree with Christianity...does that mean it should be illegal for me to believe in God? Atheists can freely think I'm wrong and I can think that homosexuality is wrong...but I don't think it's the government's right to decide either.
@94XJ I personally disagree with your view on homosexuality, but I applaud your ability to differentiate between beliefs and laws - and the roles and limitations that apply to each.
@Tullidar1 The real slippery slope is the government getting involved with human rights. First it's homosexual marriage...what' comes after that? Will interracial marriages be illegal? How about an age window stating my spouse must be within 5 years of my own age? What about other basic rights?
Will it be illegal for me to eat chocolate ice cream because most people prefer vanilla? It's a slippery slope!
@94XJ Actually, when State licensing began in the 1880s or so, in about 30 years interracial marriage was banned. By the 1920s most States had banned interracial marriage. So yes, validating your point - it is a slippery slope to have the State enter into our "human rights".
Of course, it's a slippery slope having one at all, but that's another story.
@Monkeyboy92037 I didn't say homosexuality is wrong indefinitely...I said it is my personal view that it is wrong. So I disapprove of one small part of your life...I have several homosexual friends and one of my greatest mentors is a homosexual. So I disapprove of one small part of their lifestyle...that's my right as it is theirs to live that way. They might disapprove of my choice to smoke cigarettes but it is my right to do that as well.
@Monkeyboy92037 ...after reading the stuff on your channel I don't see why you even feel the need to argue with me as you clearly use homosexuality as an insult.
marriage (definition 1a): The social institution under which a MAN and WOMAN decide to live as husband and wife through legal commitments, religious ceremonies, etc.
SO, homosexual marriage isn't even DEFINED as marriage
I don't know, It kinda has point. Is it really to say certain kinds of love are okay? How can we judge one and say the other is wrong or right? I don't really see how choosing one over the other wouldn't lead to problems. People would do this. Seriously. This isn't unrealistic.
@bizarospooky Actually, I Mexico, age of consent IS 12. Also, your sister could also give consent. As for dog, that to much gray area to figure out if dog likes it or not >.>
@Manpacattack yes but I wasn't talking ages of consent, I was talking flat out consent in a strictly psychological sense. A 12 can't be expected to give consent to a 50 yr old, simply because their are too many questions of power and the fact that they are 12 they don't fully understand marriage. Also, a dog may "like" it but liking it is not the same as giving consent. They don't have the reasoning skills to do so.
@Manpacattack Add in to that the slippery slope has been tried numerous times and failed every time. It's been tried with interracial marriage, and it failed to hold up. It's been tried with women's rights and failed. The slippery slope argument is a logical fallacy that will never hold up.
@bizarospooky I don't see how Women right fits in, since this marriage, and interracial was just wrong. Really, I don't care if gay's get married. Not my problem. Just don't call it marriage. It's all about the word. It's the union of man and woman. Thus is logical to give union that is different yet equal to this. Yes, southpark made the silly butt buddies, but i'm sure there term we could agree on this new form of same-sexed unions. Hell, even call it Egairram.
@Manpacattack Would you allow atheists to get married? They don't believe in God, so they don't have a biblical definition of "union between man and woman". If you're gonna go by a bible definition, you have to argue that only people who believe in a religion that follows the strict definition of man & woman should be allowed to marry. The slippery slope goes both ways.
@Manpacattack "Separate but equal" has been tried already dude. There's no reason to name it something different if it actually is going to be treated equally.
@feline256 It's an attitude like that makes it can't work. And why hell is that every week someone is commenting on post i made 2 weeks ago? It can work if both parties agree have it fair, it's some sides get greedy and demand more then necessary. There a reason and purpose to label things differently because they ARE different. *Sigh* Not being easy being only theist who likes SMBC. definately sarcastic. It is just pointing out how dumb the "slippery slope" thing is. Also you can tell when the girl says "cant we use our own judgment?" the way she says it especially
@Pyro627 ...you know the word "satirical" enough to use it in a youtube comment, but you can't tell that SMBC is mocking the ridiculous slippery slop argument?
in my opinion, gay marriage should be legal. i don´t think, that you need to be married if you love each other, but if someone wants to, he should have the chance
Oh, that won't be a problem, because I slaughtered all the other moles in the area. She has no other choice and animals cannot fight against their instincts.
Good, good. Everyone's welcome (except for swedes) but don't you try courting my mole. She's mine! Mine, you hear! You keep your hands away from my mole and my booze and everything's fine and dandy.
Aww, that's alright. 1/8 isn't all that much. The important thing is that you don't speak swedish. Or cheer for their hockey team. Cause if you do, we're required to lynch you. Unless you buy us a round, then it's all cool. =)
We should just make mariagge illegal. After all, if you're goin to be with someone your whole life, do you really need a priest to tell you what you already know?
There is some validity to this argument. Single racial marriages led to multiracial marriages. Now multiracial marriages are being used to justify gay marriage.
We need to just nip this in the bud and make all marriage illegal.
But seriously, I do believe that marriage shouldn't have anything to do with the gvmt. Civil Unions for: polygamists, homosexuals, and straights. But not for old people, that'd be gross.
So that's why Gay Marriage can never be legalised! The Slippery Slope! I get it, it all makes so much sense now! But what if some of us DO want to marry Sea Otter?
i don't think many of the viewers realize the irony of this video. It is extremely clever, like the green police super bowl ad, because it can really be taken either way.
if that is what it is about (and i am no proponent of the slippery slope argument or anything i am just saying) it demonstrates the slippery slope argument very well--in a comedic fashion of course. Just like the green police ad points out the ridiculousness of the 'going green' fad. But it can also be taken as you said, making fun of 'ignunt' people.
Actually, marrying relatives is legal in any and all of our united states, commonwealths, territories, protectorates, and districts, because we're all related to one another.
Exactly where the state starts attempting to ban relationships varies only slightly from place to place.
I'll rephrase because I think I was not clear. The "slippery slope" argument has the same intellectual support as "for the children." Both are, or should be, seen as manipulative tools by people who do not or cannot make the argument.
It's not their fault liberals like humour. Besides you don't see liberals being "disappointed" with the ranting and raving of conservative talk shows (Though they usually do disagree with it). Clearly the two ideologies have different means of conveying their messages. Humour for the liberals, and crazy talk for the conservatives. To each their own.
Who ever said I was a conservative? I'm talking about humor. Two minutes of a one trick pony isn't funny. It would have made a good comic but wasn't much more.
You're right, who ever said you were conservative? Certainly not me. I was meerly stating that liberals and comedy go together like a horse and carridge.
The ending was the best!
We should just make mariagge illegal. After all, if you're goin to be with someone your whole life, do you really need a priest to tell you what you already know?
Squeejee09 1 year ago 6
@Squeejee09
It's not really the priest telling you what you already know so much as having your spouse afforded certain rights that would otherwise not be given.
seanomoric 1 year ago
There is some validity to this argument. Single racial marriages led to multiracial marriages. Now multiracial marriages are being used to justify gay marriage.
We need to just nip this in the bud and make all marriage illegal.
But seriously, I do believe that marriage shouldn't have anything to do with the gvmt. Civil Unions for: polygamists, homosexuals, and straights. But not for old people, that'd be gross.

Alright, the ending... was great. That made the whole silly dance worth it. XD

Bravo, good sir.
oxygeninduced 1 year ago
@therealblueninja how can that be taken either way? it is obviously a joke making fun of ignunt people.
ShpinxiLotus23 1 year ago
if that is what it is about (and i am no proponent of the slippery slope argument or anything i am just saying) it demonstrates the slippery slope argument very well--in a comedic fashion of course. Just like the green police ad points out the ridiculousness of the 'going green' fad. But it can also be taken as you said, making fun of 'ignunt' people.
therealblueninja 1 year ago
@therealblueninja And the slippery slope argument is silly in of itself, which was why this video was effectively able to satirize it.

Actually, marrying relatives is legal in 30+ states still. Just saying. :P
Prophegy 1 year ago 3
Actually, marrying relatives is legal in any and all of our united states, commonwealths, territories, protectorates, and districts, because we're all related to one another.
Exactly where the state starts attempting to ban relationships varies only slightly from place to place.
MishaVargas 1 year ago
@MishaVargas This is not true !!! This is not even close to reality ! "Because we're all related to one another" is bullshit, and you know it !
Beaudereck 1 year ago
I'm trying to figure out if you're an idiot, or you're just imitating the kind of christian-level thinking skills found in this video.
We all share an ancestor in our family trees. Even the man wanting to marry his Yorkie is related to his bride-to-be, albeit more distantly.
MishaVargas 1 year ago
Actually, it's legal to marry a first cousins in more states than gay marraige. Funny though. :D

Except that the concept is exhausted (everyone pokes fun at the "slippery slope" argument now), its rather amusing....especially the hook at the end.
BadgerRavenmoon 1 year ago
@BadgerRavenmoon I'll believe that the slippery slope fallacy has become a joke when I stop hearing it made in a serious context by politicians.
tangentcausality 1 year ago 4
I'll rephrase because I think I was not clear. The "slippery slope" argument has the same intellectual support as "for the children." Both are, or should be, seen as manipulative tools by people who do not or cannot make the argument.

Little disappointed with the liberal preaching in the last couple videos. The comedy tends to be one note and not worth 2 minutes.
robbie1581 1 year ago
It's not their fault liberals like humour. Besides you don't see liberals being "disappointed" with the ranting and raving of conservative talk shows (Though they usually do disagree with it). Clearly the two ideologies have different means of conveying their messages. Humour for the liberals, and crazy talk for the conservatives. To each their own.
Altourus 1 year ago 3
Who ever said I was a conservative? I'm talking about humor. Two minutes of a one trick pony isn't funny. It would have made a good comic but wasn't much more.
robbie1581 1 year ago
You're right, who ever said you were conservative? Certainly not me. I was meerly stating that liberals and comedy go together like a horse and carridge.
