you should'nt use the pedal that much, that's my problem too with this piece, it's not clear anymore with too much pedal... but try to make it perfect, it's really worth it, I love this piece :D
don't post on youtube if you don't have this shit polished. there is a reason I have been working on this piece for monthes and have yet to post my performance. wrong notes. no nuances or dynamics. agitato is straight up not prepared. and the descending chords are completely wrong. final section is unpolished. seriously dude why. one of rach's greatest give him the respect he deserves. sorry, nice stab at it but it is far from perfect.
Not to bad, but watch you should work on the dynamics on the first section, and in the Agitato sections, the descending blocked chords are triplets, and it's very, very important to get the rhythm right. And the last section is Tempo I meaning your original tempo for the beginning.
not to bad coming along, im learning this one myself almost have it down, but its surely isn't a beginners piece like someone said below. u don't stick jingle bells and prelude c# minor in the same level of difficultly
Actually, comparing the difficulty of this piece to any of Rachmaninoff's other piano works, or most other works of the standard repetoire, this one is INCREDIBLY easy!
This was the first work I ever learned how to play on the piano, and is one of the easiest works I ever learned!
The people who claim this work to be difficult are also the same people who complain that the 1st movement of the moonlight is difficult! Go and actually learn how to play the piano before posting shit like this!
you may be a good piano player, but a fool nonetheless...I agree he doesn't play it too good. However, the piece is still difficult and there is NO WAY this is the first piece you learned to play. I am sure of this because if it was the first piece you played then you wouldn't know SHIT about moonlight sonata because people learn to play that before this. So stop fucking lying to yourself, and if you want maybe post your own music before acting to be like some fucking prodigy. shitface.
Oh please. Just because YOU started out with the 1st mvmt of the Moonlight doesn't mean that everybody else did. My old teacher just happened to be an idiot, so his first piece for me was this prelude! And yes, it was FUCKING EASY. And THEN I went back years later to learn the Moonlight. Of course, I was also 13 when I started playing, so it's not like he was assigning a 5 year old this, but either way this piece is INCREDIBLY simple, especially when compared to Rachmaninoff's other piano works.
it is only easy compared to rach's other stuff. that is all. a beginner trying to play this would not be able to play the middle section which speeds up a lot especially those chords st the ends that you have to play extremely fast. and if you played it as a beginner correctly, you must be a fucking prodigy so i wonder why you don't post a video of yourself playing?? I would love to hear the next mozart...
I think you've obviously worked hard to reach this level. My suggestion right now would be to play what you feel. Obviously every piece is written with a distinctive mood, but just try to add more of yourself to it. I play this piece too, and for a long time, it didn't sound right, but you just have to add that little something. You'll know when you've got it, I promise you.
Screw pianist478, you can totally have the pedal down. Although, the sostenuto would help out. Other tips: Make sure of the legato connections in the melody in the B section, make sure to accent the first of each triplet in that chord pattern, and much slower in the end, your counting was off. Nice page flip though;)
You are holding the pedal for too long. Just control your pedally so there is absolutely no blurring, then this would be an excellent performance. Everyone makes mistakes, keep practising and it'll be perfect!
Great piece. My accompianist plays it and absolutly LOVES it. It'll take some time no doubt but you've grown this piece exceptionally quickly. Looks like you have talent. Heres one tip for you he has told me: Play As Hard As You Can Until Your Fingers Bleed.
Nice interpretation of the piece, a lot different than mine actually too, watch some of the notes in the chords though, it's not like some of the chords were played as mistakes, a few of the chords were just read wrong in the music, but not bad
Make sure the C-sharp gets full count at the beginning of the piece. Crank up the tempo a bit--it's almost there. Bring out melody notes in agitato section. You need to practice the descending triplet section a bunch so that it can be up to speed--it needs to be at least three times that fast. It's really not that difficult and is probably easier than the agitato section ones it's really under your fingers.
Hey, Good job, but a little slow, but it'll get there. I play this peice and it's VERY Tempting to play this piece slow, but that's not what Rach wants. Oh well. Since you posted "Favorite songs" comment, may I suggest you look at No.3 and No5? Those are my favorite preludes by Rach.
But keep at No.1... it's an awsome piece, If I had a webcam (which I don't) I might post my version of No.1, but I dont :< And if you like this piece, DEF Chopin Ballade #1 and #3
not bad, still a little rough in spots, but it's a brutal piece--especially the Agitato. I love playing those triplets leading back into the main theme. how long have you been playing this?
I've been practicing this for 4 months now (somethimes a half hour somethimes not at all). But I play it better and better, i'll get there eventually..I hope
Since you also play this, what are youre favorite songs to play on the piano?

Absolutly horrible!
You took such an easy piece, and completely screwed it up!
Too many little errors to count, but just know they are there!
Were you seriously reading the sheet music?
You need to have music memorized well before making a recording!
Don't use the pedal so much!
The middle B section should be played faster than you interpretation.
You need to clean it up.
BTW, it's not a "very intense piano piece", it's a beginner's piece. And you haven't shown yourself worthy.
