  • @Hubboons

Song is great, like almost every REM stuff. Of course the feeling of the "earl(ier)" songs is different, but REM reached "their adulthood" and so their music changed, imo in a good way. I like both new and old material and every album - even Around the Sun (which was great live!) - has its masterpieces.

  • to your wrong opinion

i dont know any wrong opinion, or a right opinion - please explain? how is a subjective opinion wrong, how is it right?

  • shut the fuck up you nut jobs, I can hardly hear the awesome music with you guys crowding out the comments with your lackluster arguments

  • On a scale of 1 to 10 this is a pretty good song.

  • This is the best song REM ever wrote. It is utterly timeless, essential, urgently brilliant and simply brilliant in every way.

  • Damn I wish I was around when this came out.

  • Sonic Youth ripped this song off!

  • Great song. Terrible video.

  • So REM have just split up, and i can't help but feel it was about 25 years too late.

this is a good one though.

  • Just heard the news today. R.E.M. provided the soundtrack for my late teens and my 20s (1982-1997) Thanks for the music, guys!

  • Why is this band so amazing?

  • So is this song about the Masons?

  • @HoundTO Everything is about the Masons.

  • love stype´s crazy dance at 2:34

  • 5 people don't know how to live their lifes

  • Guess most of you here prefer old R.E.M. To me it's no difference, new or old, it's still R.E.M.and can't stop love them or love them less. But those early videos... aww, just look at this, who could direct something like this now? Good REM came back to filming LIKE in the 80's, but still the ideal is this or RFE

  • Never knew there was a vid to this.

One of my all time fav REM songs.

  • Don't know why, but I just love the first 16 seconds

  • I have heard this on the radio but have never seen the video, so when I first watched it I thought my computer kept freezing up on me. Later I watched it on VH1 Classics and found out it's suppose look like this. I know that may seem dumb of me but I really had never seen this video before.

  • REMs song about opening the doors of perception.

  • @KingOfSchmucks come back and slate R.E.M. when you're as successful as them.

  • @KingOfSchmucks Are you being a troll with roids? What made you choose?

  • @KingOfSchmucks and what do you listen to, hmm? linkin park?

  • @KingOfSchmucks Wy would you dig around youtube for one of REM's most obscure songs sp you could bash it? How do you even know this song? Get something else to do.

  • @tquasa How is this an obscure song? It's off Fables of the Reconstruction and the video is from the REM succumbs VHS released in 87. Fables was their last good album.

  • @Huboons Don't get me wrong, I love this song and REM. I don't mean obscure in a bad way, what I meant was that it is obscure to those unacquainted with this band.

  • @Huboons Life's Rich Pageant and Document were great albums. You can say what you want about albums they made when they left I.R.S. Records.

  • @GAdawgsfan93 LRP is the first album i didn't like every song. And I didn't like at least half of them. After that I never liked more than 2 or 3 songs up to Green, at which point I gave up on them.

  • @Huboons personally i think the run of automatic, monster, new adventures and Up is better than most of IRS period although Murmur will always be my fav. Reckoning has some genius songs on but also a few filler, fables is mostly good but goes a bit off towards the end, LRP has again some amazing tracks the first 3 are as good a start to any album also has some filler. Document is very over rated, green is great apart from stand and wrong child and out of time is again either brilliant or filler

  • @alexcastor "personally i think the run of automatic, monster, new adventures and Up is better than most of IRS" - You don't know much about music or rem then.

  • @Huboons wow calm down mate, i was just saying my personal opinion no need to be insulting. To say i don't know much about music or rem just because i have a different opinion to you is ridiculous. i am in fact it seems more knowledgeable about the band than you are as it seems you gave up on them totally over 20 years ago.

  • @alexcastor Nothing I said was insulting. Pointing out your lack of knowledge and bad taste is not an insult.

  • @Huboons so it seems nobody else is allowed to have a worthwhile opinion and just because in your opinion i have bad taste how exactly does this demonstrate a lack of knowledge about rem. They are my fav band and have listened to every record in their catalogue over and over again. in my view time after time up to and including camera are only average songs although reckoning does contain some amazing ones (harborcoat, so.central rain) id take songs like drive or tongue over weaker ones any day

  • @alexcastor "it seems nobody else is allowed to have a worthwhile opinion" you certainly are welcome to your wrong opinion although I suspect you are just being a contrarian because its hard to take when your favorite band starts churning out crap. So you defend crap against older, more creative work to try to convince yourself they haven't lost it.

  • @Huboons i actually like the albums i mention. why would i post to on here to cause an argument i don't believe in? i like the fact were experimenting with new sounds on the albums i mentioned. I'm not blind believing everything they did was good, the albums after that were patchy at best and one terrible record and michael's lyrics were especially lacking. But you can't even have a considered conversation you just dismiss my views as rubbish and say i know nothing. i find it very rude

  • @KingOfSchmucks well if your speaking in opposites, then you are a genius and so right on par!

  • @KingOfSchmucks OK RANDY CALIFORNIA! RIGHHHHHTTTTT

  • @KingOfSchmucks Your name really says what you are, you are the king King Of Schmucks. R.E.M. is a classic band with very classy music and I can't help it if you can't get into a song that has meaning, go back and listen to Rap, Hip-Hop, Pop, Pop-Punk, Emo Rock, or Pop Country.

  • @KingOfSchmucks you suck! R.E.M. is one of the best bands in history

  • Who want to learn Japanese or Chinese with me?

  • @lilylessons Learn proper grammar in English first.

  • I would like to have a song called Life and How to Love It.. omg i am a poor asshole arent i?

  • should be doing homework, but you know, REM is REM :D

  • @smalltowngirl771 same situation here

  • This is a great one "Life and How to Live it" just love R. E. M. Great beak lol.

  • used to listen to this on my walkman, while doing my paper round. can you even imagine how fast i could peddle!!!!!!!!!!

  • @fishshaped lol

  • This song takes me back to when I was a kid. Started listening to R.E.M at the age of 4 and have been listening to their music ever since.

  • @nilleej I was ALSO four years old when I first heard R.E.M.s music and have been listening ALSO their music ever since! One of the greatest band ever!

  • Comment removed

  • Jesus is here.

  • For a moment then, I thought Michael has sprouted locks of gold - I think I should nap now.

  • Still have my dusty copy of this vid on the old R.E.M Succumbs complilation on VHS - still one of my two favorite R.E.M. songs ever.

  • Amazing. ;D

  • This is great!
