I saw a show last night, bruce cox quintet at the fat cat in NYC. The front man alternated between a tenor on traditional stuff, and a wind controller for their electric stuff, and it was INSANE!!! He p,ayes it ridiculously well and had some sort of effect on it that increased fullness and sustain.... And he wasn't a goof, lol!
Those reeds are so much fun! I used to own a EWI 3020 but when I got the chance trying the Yamaha WX5 I was overwhelmed how much even better the Yamaha felt. and It's so much easier to carry around too.
I use the VL70m module with a Patchman chip and midi to other modules I have laying around (Yamaha ES, Roland Fantom XR, EMU Proteus 1 and sometimes to my Motif XS7 keyboard. Very fast tracking, Never tried the Akai ....yet.
do you think this is good if playing guitar too... i mean, if we can play guitar and harmonica at the same time, why not playing this instrument and guitar at the same time
@maximumbs I have a WX5 - there are DIP switches to control the fingering - I believe it can be made to finger like a clarinet / recorder but default from the factory is like a sax.
Oh, a bit more than that! The VL-70m's underlying technology was and remains the best true synthesis technology ever, IMHO.
These days, people mainly just do sampling and throw tons of memory at it to get variability in the sound. But sampling is a cheat, IMHO. It's not true SYNTHESIS.
The VL's Physical Modeling simulates the way that real instruments work, rather than just recording someone playing a real instrument and playing back the recording at different speeds for different notes.
These things are great in the right hands (read: other than mine) for sure.

Very much like a sax and be set more like a recorder... not sure about clarinet... should be real close.

Are the fingerings similar to a clarinet?
