OK...in this context, Irony means "an event or result marked by humerous incongruity" (from the dictionary). The comment notes the humor of a situation. You do not see the humor in the fact that a Russian came to the US, taught an American, who came to Russia, to doemonstrate sambo where it was created? The comment is about the humor of the situation. I doubt anyone would find the comment strange or insulting. It is a simple comment about the strangeness and humor in the situation.
You see Pizdick, it is people like you who can't get over their pride to just enjoy people of different cultures and places becoming frinds. People like you make this world an antagonistic place. Your us or them mentality is very sad.
trust me Steve I really enjoyed this video, as we all know relationship between Russia and US have been quite tense for very long time now and it is always a pleasure to see that regular sportsmen like yourselves dont give a crap about politics and manage to be friends, but you spoiled it for me by making strange comment "Ironic.. Huh?"
What do you suggest people to think when they read smth like this, especially from you? can you plz explain?
It is you who are being arrogant and closed minded. I went to my coach's club (upon his request) and talked about sambo with my student. We did not go there to be arrogant or prove anything. We went to be friends, demonstrate how we do sambo, and just enjoy sambo together. Yes, he was asking if his students recognized what they were seeing because he taught me and wanted to make sure they understood. He was teaching them through my demo and happy to see that he and I still were on the same page.
If u spoke the Russian u would understand that after anything American coach says or shows, before Alexander Barakov starts to translate he says to his students "do you guys recognize this?" or "this is exactly what we were talking about"!
So you went all they way to Russia to try and teach them about smth they already know!
So whats ironic Russians being NICE to u and not telling u that they already know what u r trying to teach them? Or u being ARROGANT, agreeing with johnson2324's comment?

Whoa, an impressive thing at 2:20-2:40, provided your opponent is puzzled enough by your actions to just keep standing there and not step away...
The guy's translating kinda sucks and he does not always convey the meaning properly. A bit irritating - when you listen to everything twice...
Otherwise an exceptionally good video, thanks!

Worlds best SamBO practitioners are Russians at the moment and I doubt it very much if they are coached by americans.
U r pathetic going to Russia pretending to be their friend but disrespecting them so much.
Is Fedor Emelianenko coached by Americans too?!
Ironic... Huh?
