  • I'm sorry to say this looks like Laos and Thai food.

  • Who came up with that name "Lark" failed translation!

  • @Hluaszoo

i dont kno if it was your typo, but it's spelled "LARB"

  • @deystiny who cares about the spelling. The fool must make up the word anyway whoever named it. Sounds like a fat grease. Why not "Spicy Raw Beef" better.

  • Hmong Food <3, after a long day of working theres nothing like coming home to a hmong dish!

  • NO WAT THEY MISSED OUT...RAW LAA ( IDK HOW TO SPELL)...AND PIG BRAIN...THE BEST OF THE BEST

  • Thanks

  • Where or how do we get this book? Anyone know.

  • @loveulee23 I saw it on Amazon.com for $20, &there is a preview so you can read through a few pages to see if you for sure want to order it(:

  • I've read through this book. Took it off of my brother-in-law's shelf. I need to go buy a copy of my own. I would have to agree that this is definitely a really useful book for young people who appreciate their own Hmong food but may not really know how to or where to begin. A worth having book. Two thumps up from me!

  • the hmong chicks are nice....

  • MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!looks hella good!!!!!!!!!=P....

  • Wow the American lady is very nice. Not many white people will bother to learn about our culture and stuff like our foods. In fact many still look down on us today. We need more people like her.

  • Cuisine is culture and culture is copied. Members of a society see some behaviour or festival that they like. They see a healing method that is associated with a cure. They hear a musical instrument that they enjoy. They eat a dish that they relish. That is the evolution of culture, that is the development of cuisine. Where did it start? An almost impossible question to answer... and the answer in a sense is not so important. It may however tell us how the culture evolved like a road-map.

  • This is interesting. I would love to make more Hmong dishes. (:

  • People who keep saying Hmong copy this, Hmong copy that needs to have an open-mind and look in history. It doesn't matter if it's singing, dancing, cooking or whatever. We as human beings learn from each other and grow from there. America created the automotive industry and Japan took it and improve it on a bigger scale. Do everyone say Toyota or whatever are all wanna be cars that copy from America? Great ideas are those that come from a fine-tune of a bunch of different ideas.

  • amazing ;(

  • I AM SO GETTING THIS FREAKIN BOOK!!!

  • HEY CAN YOU DO A VIDEO SHOW HOW TO COOK THE JUICE ON THE POT ON 0:17? THAN KYOU

  • I'm going to get this book!!

  • this is very interesting! does anybody know if they have the Hmong cookbook anywhere?

  • I love Hmong foods. =)

  • I very like the raw laab dish, it very good...if u instead use the grinder machine to very ground the raw meat into so small, and adding the recipe and pepper ...making the raw laab taste so good...it best with fresh kill raw beef meat.....

  • @YangCYV -- Don't forget a bit of bitterness and lots of chili. Very good!

  • @emijoti -- No, don't really like bitterness on my.....just the right natural herbs combinations and chilles ..w/ raw fresh kill beef is good enough for me....but some people like bitterness...

  • Comment removed

  • I love papaya and the awful deliciously smell....have you try it with basil leaves added into the recipe? damn its hella good....try it and one day you are going to thank me for it.... peace out....

  • so many hot hmong girls in this video XD

  • 剿灭苗族

  • Sheng and Sami, most Hmong are poor and they do not have the luxury of all of those ingredient. With that being said can you two tell us Hmong number 1,2,and 3 dish. I grew up on these and i don't mean just plain rice.

  • As a human being adaptation is the number one survival skill and that's what we have done for years. Adapting and adopting many recipes along the way, but we have made it as our own...for many of those who don't or could not understand the history of Hmong you should. I truely agree with CyberVang. Hmong food is not the only dishes that has been borrowed. Hundreds of others has been past on and changed making it theirs. 21st century ppl..don't you ppl cook burgers and says it's My cooking!

  • its not really hmong food more like adapted from or borrow from the many culture hmong have been contact with.. some of the dish i seen in here are true to hmong dishes...but the rest are copies....

  • Stop criticized about Hmong food, nothing in this World is original.

  • I really hate people who comes on youtube and get fuzzed over something that they cant do themself and have to blame it on the people who actually achieved this!!!

  • @infantry1560 plagerizing in not original and taking create for it isn't exceptable....

  • the food looks delicious!!!! i would love some sticky rice with papaya salad right now along with cabbage right now!

  • I want to order the book but will you take food stamp?

Hmong #1 recipe is ---->MOV NTSE DEJ!!!!!

    TRUE?

  • @nplejtshiab

If you're Hmong, you deserve to get your ass-kicked. Shame on you!

  • @kaox44 Hahahaha did u get your ass kicked by hmong people?Shame on u!(:

  • @1ofAkindification

What...was that suppose to be a smart reply at me? What a joke, no do the world a favor and bury yourself.

  • @kaox44 nahh,Not the whole world know me,so it wouldn't be a favor (:

  • @1ofAkindification

...who cares, still go bury yourself.

  • @kaox44 Lol,dnt be mad.Get glad muhahahah.Getting mad over this comment.Shame on YOU :p

  • @1ofAkindification

...mad? Not likely....more like you, since you're the one with the corny replies "dnt be mad.Get glad"...LAME!

  • @kaox44 Lol.Haha corny but u like it cus u keep comin back for more lame ass!(:

  • its all good food but really you could fine these recipes in the thai, laos, vietnamese and Chinese cooking books .hmong people just trying to make money out of others recipes , maybe try some new recipes will hlep..

  • @jfcagsc ... THIS IS THE REASON WHY HMONG PEOPLE ARE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE ASIAN WORLD. WHEN A HMONG PERSON DOES SOME GOOD FOR THE HMONG PEOPLE, A LOT OF HMONG PEOPLE GET JEALOUS AND START TALKING SHIT. THERE'S NO SUPPORT IN OUR PEOPLE. THIS BOOK WASN'T ABOUT MAKING MONEY BUT A STEP FORWARD FOR THE HMONG PEOPLE. THIS ISN'T ABOUT PEOPLE GANGS OR RAPES. IT'S A BOOK ABOUT ARE PEOPLE, HOW WE USE DIFFERENT FOOD TO BRING OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS TOGETHER.

  • @916RETRO is not jealous is the truth, why support copys

  • @jfcagsc ... THE TRUTH IS HMONG PEOPLE CAN'T GET ALONG, YOU'RE THE PERFECT EXAMPLE ... I CAN'T WAIT FOR YEARS TO COME WHEN OUR PEOPLE START GETTING ALONG AND QUIT HATING. THE BEST COOK IN THE WORLD COPY OTHERS. THIS BOOK WAS MADE TO OPEN DOORS FOR HMONG PEOPLE. JEALOUS, NO THE TRUTH IS YOU WEREN'T A GOOD ENOUGH HMONG PERSON TO COME OUT WITH THIS BOOK.

  • @jfcagsc You have to understand that 916 guy is right...What if its not cooking? what if its for presidential election? what if its for nominating a new senator? would you still say that its wrong to select this person because he or she seems wrong and is foul play to you? I mean... You should have appreciate that our culture and custom have made it this far, With attitudes like that we wont be consider Hmongs anymore

  • @916RETRO

I disagreed, who told you that we Hmong are at the BOTTOM? We have elected public officials, business owners, CEO(s), Singers, Doctors, and etc.

We may have some bad eggs, but compare to most minority groups. I think we are doing pretty good.

Look at the big pictures before putting your own people down because you're discrediting all the hard workers. Thank you!

  • @kaox44 ... DON'T GET ME WRONG, I HAVE A LOT OF HMONG PRIDE. I AGREE WITH YOU, WE DO A HAVE A LOT OF GREAT PEOPLE (DOCTORS, SINGERS, AND SO ON).

I'M JUST TRIED OF PEOPLE PUTTING OUR PEOPLE DOWN, WE ARE GOOD PEOPLE BUT WE GET OVER LOOK B/C WHEN MOST PEOPLE THINK OF HMONG PEOPLE, THEY THINK OF US AS GANGSTERS, GAMBLERS AND LOW-LIFE, AND THAT'S ISN'T THE CASE.

IF WE WANT TO GAIN RESPECT FROM THE WORLD WE HAVE TO START RESPECTING OUR OWN PEOPLE. THAT'S ALL I'M TRYING TO SAY.

    I AGREE WITH YOU.

  • @916RETRO

Absolutely, that's all I want you to understand and challenge these people to their claims. Us Hmong people needs to be more pro-active about who we are, we want the world to know that this very small minority group stood up and fought for America when no one did. Be prove of what our fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters did and still manage to make a life here (US).

...we just need to cut our people some slack, everyone of us are affected by the war. Just be proud, thank you.

  • @916RETRO why do you guys give a fuck so much about what others think of us hmong..you need to realize that no matter how much we respect eachother and what our people have done for them..at the end of the day they will still see us the same..so what if no one respects us,even if they do...what good does it make??

  • @thaublaib82 ... YOU HAVE TO CARE ABOUT YOUR PEOPLE AND IMAGE ... AT THE END OF THE DAY I WANT TO KNOW THAT I'M DOING THE BEST I CAN AS A HMONG PERSON EVEN IF WE DON'T GET THE SAME RESPECT AS OTHER BUT IF WE CONTIUNE NOT TO CARE THEN WE WILL NEVER GET RESPECT AND WE'LL NEVER MAKE IT ... HMONG PEOPLE ARE GREAT PEOPLE WITH A LOT OF TALENT, NOT JUST GANG BANGERS ... CARING ABOUT OUR IMAGE IS A START ... CALL ME OLD SCHOOL, BUT A LOTS OF PEOPLE DON'T CARE THAT'S WHY THEY GET NO WHERE ...

  • @jfcagsc

...and maybe if you don't like the HMONG VERSION, you should just shut up? We cool? GOOD!

  • stop tring to brain wash the other cultures about lao n thai foods.

  • i am hmong this is not hmong food at all. this is laos and thai food. i have a lao husband i kno what they cook and eat. hmong people dont have their own food. lyin ass. hmong cookin is boiled pork with greens and its served with jasmine rice we just say thats our food because we live in laos and thai and copy what we see but the ingredient isn't even close.....

  • @pakou3557 ... CALM DOWN. THIS BOOK ISN'T ABOUT CLAIMING OTHER CULTURES DISH AS OUR OWN. YOU'RE HMONG, TELL ME WHAT DO YOU COOK AT HOME, AT YOUR PARENT HOUSE, AT YOUR IN LAWS. THE BOOK IS ABOUT THE DIFFERENT KIND OF FOOD WE USE IN OUR CULTURE. A LOT OF YOUNGER HMONG PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO COOK ANYTHING OUR PARENT COOKS SO THIS BOOK TEACHES US. THIS BOOK WASN'T MADE TO DISRESPECT THE LAO AND THAI PEOPLE BUT TO SHARE THE FOOD HMONG PEOPLE ENJOY AND HAVE BEEN COOKING FOR AGES.

  • @pakou3557

...you know what, copy or not we're all Asian and we are from the same region; therefore, the types of food we eat would be similar. For example; Thai and Laotian, Chinese and Vietnamese. We Hmong just happen to be there with the other groups, so I suggest that you learn and understand why we use similar foods and ingredients because right now you sound like you hate your own people. Show some respect or don't even bother. GOOD DAY!

  • @pakou3557 Pakou, there are many many countries that have borrowed other ethnic foods into their own. for example Mexico, they are really indian. But since Spain invaded them, they now eat spanish food & speak spanish. do you even know who you are? it does not matter who you are married to, why did u even say that? just because you and your husband said this and that, doesnt mean anything really. If anything, it was Laotions who borrowed from the Thai/Siam. know ur history please before u speak

  • Great Video.

Enjoyed it alot. Many of these dishes on this video is what my family eat

everyday. Always enjoy the food. Thanks for sharing these videos.

  • I live in Boston. Where can I get some of this good food at?

  • the food very delicious..............the gurl at 2:40 also very delicious

  • people..people...stop saying that hmoob people don't have a recipe b/c we do and it gets irritaing when you say that we don't it just bugs the SHIT out of me cux I'mma hmoob gurl and I love cooking, so yup once you start cooking that's when you get a recipe

  • @icyprincess09 hmong people don't have recipes

  • @hmoobrapist

Sad, but true. Some neo-Hmong foods have recipes kept within families, but there are no real recipes.

  • wow! i want to know where i can get this book?

  • I meant.."The Hmong Kitchen in America". =)

  • The book didn't say it's "Hmong" food and Hmong food only. If it did, it'll just have boiled pork and greens, boiled chicken with herbs, Hmong suasage, intestine stuff, dead blood and shit stuff. That's what the og's eat! It says food from a Hmong kitchen. So lighten up! We all cook these food in our kitchen. Yumm! Looks so yummy. Especially the pepper! Mouth watery!

  • mmm. yummmy. made my mouth water. lol.

  • thought they were actually gonna cook something lol...the rice bowl with mango is kinda weird...omg papaya salad! n the most common favorite chili paste hehehe im hungry now...

  • :) this is great.

  • Hey.........it's Chub's house.

  • it's sad to be hmong cause we have no country, no recipes of our own, no alphabet. i'm so lost to be a hmong. i got nothing to pass down to my kids like other cultures. it's just depressing to be hmong.

  • lol...just you i hope....i think you should be proud where you come from...Hmong is just as beautiful in every aspects like others. nothing to be depress about.

  • actually in fact, we do have alphabet. you should really do some research on it. it really amazed me. our alphabet is similar to thai. not exactly but the way its written. and dont be depress! you should be proud to be hmong;) theres so many things to learn from our culture and when you do the research, you'll definitely think it's worth it, being hmong!

  • buddy lighten up..we do have recipe, boiled chicken hehe..i think b/c of the war n slavery that our ppl gone thru, we lost our culture from time to time and suddenly began adapting to others...

and of course we have our own alphabets..well if u don't know much about ur culture and pass that down to your kids of course it's depressing

  • @dudest555 I so agree with you, I'm half Laos and half Thai, and looking back at what our Laos people do you Hmong is just so wrong. In my oppinion. Hmong, Laos and Thai are different but yet we are all the same in so many ways. This is 2010 we should try to get to know each other instead of putting people down.

  • @tytyler1980

...I agree, we all use to live peacefully with each other. I think we still can as long as we teach our kids not to repeat the past. War creates hatred and suffering. Time would heal anything as long as the people permit it. I have many Laos and Thai friends....the last thing on our mind wouldn't be greed or hate.

  • @buddymay99

Wrong, you just haven't look hard enough. We have a beautiful history...tracing all the way back to China. If you give up now, then mind-as-will don't call yourself Hmong.

I encourage you to find and keep everything that is Hmong or represent who you are, it doesn't matter if it's Hmong Chinese, Viet-Hmong, Lao Hmong, Thai Hmong, American Hmong, etc. ...remember that it's still Hmong. I just hate to see that my people are so discourage with not having a country. Just live it!

  • going home to a hmong moms kitchen is always the best...a moms cooking is the best thing in the world...and who cares where the food originated from, everyone may have the same kind of recipes and etc but then it all taste different!!!!! the thing that matters the most is it taste DIFFERENT!!!!!!! so apparently its not the same recipes.

  • I am Lao. & I've read most of the comments below. everyone is bashing everyone. Lets just take a moment to understand that food is very versatile. You can take out, or add an ingredient and it automatically makes it taste different. So, lets not get into where a certain type of dish originates from, because you'll never knew the true history of such things. Food can always change according to ones preferences. If you don't know these basic things, you should not be talking nonsense.

  • @p0oki3bOo

Very good point, I totally agreed.

  • @kaox44 thank you.

  • wow,, it's finally something is changing for our hmong people...

  • she said larb!!!!!

  • hahaha...i know those girls...

  • I love how a "small gathering" to the Hmong is like 37 people. Love it.

  • dang...i wanna go to the flea market and get some food now.

  • omg .....my mouth is watering over all theses goodies...T^T

  • Actually Hmong people do have recipe's. It's a high combination of recipes mixed from many cultures. In essence that makes Hmong dishes more appealing because it's improved & targets the best of the best. For example Chinese Egg Rolls are horrid using cabbage and plain pork. Hmong improved it with variety of noodles & meats with other spices. WHat I am saying is that Hmong Recipe's are original recreations from existing recipes that they've learned over the years of being hunted. Peace.

  • Yes. But i'm so sure about this author's recipes. I wouldn't necessarily call them "Hmong Recipes." Some of her recipes are not authentic Hmong. I'd call this author's work "Southeast Asian Fusion."

  • agree...i think hmong don't really have much recipes bc it's recreated from other asians...basic hmong recipes are i think meat boil with greens lol

  • @cybervang

I gotta agree with you man. Hmong food are original recreations from other people. It's quite good!!!

  • @cybervang Hmong people learned how to cook by watching someone else cook. There was no written recipe, everything was verbally taught. Even now, Hmong people don't really use a written recipe because everything is about personal taste. They also hardly measure their ingredients, hence, the same dish made by two different people will taste different. Hmong egg rolls are quite similar to Vietnamese egg rolls, not Chinese egg rolls.

  • this vid makes me so hungry.....but where is the sweet pork stool in oyster sause

and eggs! that the best hmoob dish!!

  • Hmong people don't have true Hmong dishes... Most of the food are from other Asian ethnicities!

  • Nice, finaly someone came out with the Hmong food book.

  • how can i get this book

  • Yes thaiubongirl, however everyone has their own kick in their dishes. I'm sure not everything in the recipes is down to the notch the same thing. Have you tried both variations and have they tasted the same?

  • @Yukie05 Yeah, vietnamese use dogs and cats in their dish.

  • asian dishes are similar to eachother..

  • dang! woot woot! hmong pride!

  • What's the name on 2:00? I think it's yummy if I put some canned sardines with hot chili. then, vegetable oil saute with onion, garlic, salt and a bit of monosodium glutamate. much yummy just half cook to make it a bit crispy..

  • Larb, papaya salad and kao poun are Lao dishes. Mango and sticky rice is a Thai dish. Muan Kwan is a Vietnamese dish.

  • whoa thats amazing :D

  • so happy to be hmong too..

    hehheeh yeeyeyeeee...dfjfooid

  • Beautiful video showcasing Hmong foods. Looks delicious. STOP HATING ON THIS VIDEO YOU IDIOTS, Atleast she had the time to showcase the delicious foods of HMONG People. Even if some recipes have been borrowed from other asian ethnic groups, we made it better to our liking.

  • hey, thats my auntie!!! YAY!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Yes, everything is Laos to you since you're so smart. Malay food, khmer food, Thai food, burmese food, bali food all came from Laos. Apparently, you think everything came from Laos. There are hundred of ethnic groups living in these countries with their own unique foods and if you don't understand that, go kill yourself.

  • If we are all living in nice little isolated bubbles, may be you'll see "pure" ethnic cuisine. In that case, the Thais would have no more right to claim any dish containing curry (from India) as their, just as the Chinese can't claim credit for any dish using chili pepper (from Mexico).

  • There is a difference between chilli and chilli peppers. Chillies are fiery hot while chilli peppers aren't. Traditional chinese cuisine doesn't use chilli peppers but chilli. Chillies feature prominently in Sichuan and Hunan cuisines.

  • Both are Capsicum annuum, and neither is truly "traditional" in Asia, as Capsicum annuum is native to Mexico. Chili or chili pepper, neither have been used in China prior to 1492 AD.

  • Lao foods tend to have more fish condiments. Thai foods often don't use fish sauce. Hmong tend to use more herbs. Lao foods tend to have a strong flavor and Hmong foods tend to be mild. Looking at Hmong beef salad, its ingredients are different from Laos and Thai. Hmong papaya salad is different as well. Thai don't use fish sauce. Laos use real crabs. Hmong people like to use tamarine juice, crab paste. If you can't tell the different then you really need to go out more.

  • okay, Hmong cooking has nothing to do with Laos. Yes, there are cultural influences, but that does not mean that Hmong food came from Laos. Just like the similarities between Indian, Thai, Laos and other southeast asian foods. Just like northern africa, greek, italian foods. Hmong foods may look similar to Laos and Thai foods, but they are unique in their own ways.

  • real hmong food is rice and pepper xD

  • cool...the pepper looks goooddddd...

  • wait.. so the book has all the recipes and the the directions to make it right? they better not lie. i wanna get one!

  • them gurls look cute

  • these are tradition Hmong family food.

  • wow i was drueling and gulp gulp when i saw all those delicious food on the table especially the papaya salad! lol...

  • No, Most of the food she had is wrong, Hmong only have 1 or 3 meals only, are Boiled Chicken Soup, and the Chicken diet. Most of the food she'd cooked are Thai, and Vitnamese food, Hmong never created those,Hmong was very poor, we'd just liked other peoples food. If you are gonna make a book about "Hmong Foods from the Heart" You Should of Created New Style and not copying from other Countries. I am Hmong too but to tell it to you in a safe way. So Plz Create, don't copy.

  • Well, even though its from other countries, we freaken cook these recipes for a long ass time now. like how many years? way before your mom and grandma was born. It is traditional food. it dont have to be ALL HMONG FOOD to be in the damn book. Hmong people eat this occasionally or most of the time. so whats the fucking point? these are common recipes hmong people cook.

  • You stfu. There Thai Fried Rice, so we should call it Chinese food? You are the close-minded one here, so you better look at yourself closely. I don't see any Lao foods here so I don't know what you're talking about. Each culture has its own way of cooking and if you can't understand that, you need to go back to school.

  • ..i totally do think it's perfectly fine to write a book about what we cook in our kitchen..
