@Normhib Actually the Scandinavians are likely descended from the Germanic tribes (so called for their mode of dress - the people of the trousers). In fact most people in Western Europe share blood with many ancient peoples who were forced West by others such as the Hun. In this case however, the Scandinavians as with the Franks, Saxons, Normans etc... wore hose, whereas the Celts wore skirts.

There were several european tribes that spoke the celtic root language. That did NOT make them "celts" as a race but several races or tribes speaking the same root language. They ranged from Scandinavia to Tirol & the Po Valley. The gauls were a group of celtic-speaking people but not the "celts" as a whole.

My highland relatives still speak it as their native tongue, in the highlands as well as on the Isle of Lewis. Ergo, they are celts. I know very little of it. Ergo, even if I learned how to converse in highland gaelic that does NOT qualify me as a celt because it wasn't passed down through the family as a working language.
