  • You would not want to be staring like that, at me.

  • Al got the blade work down. Quick shank in the gut, turn em, slit their throat all in one motion.

  • Bullock! The world abounds in cunt of all kind.

  • This is like the best show ever, the dialohues and atmosphere its like something yanked out of shakespeare

  • They should get their shit together and make a Deadwood movie before another shitty ass sex and the city movie.

  • You know she's fucked for food.

  • piss on the pool tables in my bar will you- you cocksucker 3:07

  • I think his English accent bleeds through a bit too much.

  • @oeufsurplat They refer to his character being from England a few times at the beginning of the series.

  • @birdyman03 Yeah, I watched the vid as a recommendation from a friend, having not seen any of it before (I couldnt beleive McShane had been cast in this, after just knowing him as Lovejoy). When i saw the first episode, i though 'Fuck, someone on Youtube is gunna pull me up about that'. Ha.

  • Best actor and best character ever. Cant get enough of Al!

  • 4 faszfej.

  • Swegen.

  • lol Red Dead Redemption is already a sequel.

  • Al, The PIMP of Deadwood <3

  • AL Swear-engine lol get it?

  • Didn't realize how many people Al killed until I watched this.

  • I love how David Milch turned the bad guy into a good guy.

  • From what I heard, Deadwood was canceled because the actors were asking for a substantially larger paycheck. They just couldn't pay the actors what they wanted.

They should have tried raising money through fans to pay the actors to finish. It's such a shame that a series this great was shutdown so abruptly. I think they could have done more to keep it alive.

  • "Look at her....you know she's fucked for food"

  • Is it me, or everytime Al smiles, somebody ends killed?

  • Fucking great

  • I aspire to talk shit like this man!

  • I'd LOVE to see John Marston from, "Red Dead Redemption," show up in Deadwood! Some interplay between him and Al would be awesome!

  • I hate how HBO cut the show off.

  • "Look at her , you know shes fked for food" ++ LOL

  • -Will fuck for food-

  • Who in their right minds at HBO watched McShane on this show and said "Yea, let's not do that show anymore." Stupidity.

  • if only Al Swearengen was alive today, he'd put a bowie knife in any HBO exec trying to cancel this masterpiece of a show.

  • Al Swear-en-again... LOL AWESOME!!!!

  • You can go now, brother.

  • Big love was on for how many seasons?? Deadwood, Rome, and of course Sopranos were the only good thing on television. Fucking bring them back.

  • Ian Mcshance is brilliant

  • Al was "from" Oskaloosa, Iowa. He died a broken and broke man in Denver, Colorado. I was born in Oskaloosa,Iowa, and grew-up in Denver. I love this version of Al. Deadwood (the series) best show ever made, with the exception of Justified.

  • Deadwood>Game of Thrones

HBO, bring back the show please.

  • lol, i had not realized that Al had killed so many people in the show until i watched this.

  • Swear engine.

  • @clueless301 LOLhahahahah

  • Al is the fucking man!

  • @charbcbc minus the throatslashing he seems like a saint

  • This series was probably a bitch to write - the language is so rich... and filthy, but eloquently so.

  • Daniel Day Lewis could only look on and weep to not nail Bill The Butcher in Gangs Of New York as much as Ian McShane did as Al in Deadwood.

  • "The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back"

  • @busessuck1 Amen Brother,,, Amen Al Swearengen

  • BETTER JUMP AND TRYING TO TOUCH THE MOON THAN UNDERSTAND WHAT'S GOIN ON IN A BRIDE'S HEAD

YOU FORGET ABOUT THAT ONE lol

nice tribute to the MC shane character

  • All those carpets Al has had to change..must have cost him a fortune. You'd think he would have atleast put a pan under his throat to catch all that bleed-out. Now Jewel's gonna spend a month scrubbin' it.

  • One person sucks cock by choice!

  • Deadwood will never suffer from overpopulation while Mr. Swearengen is in town.

  • Damn who wrote those lines. Shakespeare?

  • I've set it up so my phone msg tone is 0:46 - 0:53, " Taken by a vision" look at your phone " You would not want to be staring like that.. at me "

  • I really liked the scene at 3:20. I wish the whole scene was on here. Swearengen just gave that scene a atmosphere it needed.

  • They need to get Ian McShane as a voice actor for Red Dead Redemption 2.

  • @DemonWarp65 if that happens, i'd jizz in my pants as soon as i would hear it in the game

  • @QuiGonMith LOL amen to that!

  • @DemonWarp65

Red Dead is the name of the game series. Red Dead Redemption is a sequel so you mean Red Dead 3 or the Sequel of Red Dead Redemption.... dumbass

  • @CounterNerd Well gee, if I am saying Red Dead Redemption 2, then I obviously mean the sequel to redemption.

  • @DemonWarp65 Thats a outstanding idea.

  • God, I miss this series. There was talk for two years they had written 6 to 8 hours of material to finish the story with another short season. But the idiot producers thought the "John from Cincinnati" crap was better to go with - yeah right, cancelled after one season.

Get everyone back and finish the last season...the ratings were there!

Also, I thought it a great scene when Al euthenized, not murdered, the preacher. It showed it could care about another's suffering.

  • Al Swearengen was a classic Old School Gangster...........Too kool.......

  • STOMP 'IM IN THE NUTS! STOMP 'IM IN THE NUTS!

  • Lemmy should have played Al, he woudn't need to act:-)

  • The 1 person who did not like this vid is douchebag!

  • how different was Al in the end of season 3 comparing to the beggining

  • @bulletproofisobel I know when he beat trixie in episode one I thought he was an asshole and bad guy. He turned out to be some form of hero.

  • @sinskater123454 No, make no mistake about it...Al is a murderous and evil villain - but probably the greatest villain of all time because of what you basically point out - the fact that as evil as he is, there is still something about him you like or can even love. THAT is the key to a great villain - pure evil, but nearly likeable...maybe because we all see something of ourselves in him.

  • @guyfroml haha I totally agree. Deadwood rocks!

  • My favorite scene at 3:35...love when they kill the fed!

  • i don't know ian mcshane but from this video i am comfortable that he is going to be a good black beared in Pirates of da Carribian.

  • @90260 you could film him take a shit and still call it a performance.

  • Is it just me, or does Deadwood's dialogue seem like a hellishly excellent blend of Shakespeare, John Ford, and Yoda, with a bit of George Carlin and Richard Pryor thrown in for good measure?

  • The best show ever made. And if you disagree your just wrong.

  • either that, or you got your skull crushed impolitely by a mule hoof.

  • "We show united in the prelude when he's making his entrance and the fucking like. When it comes to viewing the body, I stand for virtue alone. The deception failing, I'll make a pass at him with my blade. In the aftermath, play the lie as mine, knowing I speak of you in heaven."

  • @yerk3 Anyone else find the thought of Al Swearengen in heaven hillarious?

  • total BAMF

  • The first quote in this clip, "What a type you must consort with, that you not fear beating for such an insult". Knowing the circumstances and the characters, that quote is hilarious. I love it. I love Deadwood.

  • Al Swearengen is Gangsta!

  • Funny part was the end of this scene when Johnny Burns and Dan are carrying out the Pinkerton, Johnny says "this is the longest a carpets' lasted in here"

  • my favorite character of the series

  • That poor gimp had to clean up so many goddamn bloodstains on account of Al always killin' people in the saloon.

  • I had to laugh my ass off when he said "Look at her. You know she's fucked for food". LOL

  • "If I take a knife to you, you'd be scared worse & a long time dying."

  • such a shame that this show was never taken further, Ian McShane alone would have been worth watching. HBO have produced some great stuff and no insult to The Wire or the Sopranos (both of them awesome) but I think this was the better show.

  • @Pyrrhic24 I honestly couldn't pick a favorite between the three. You can't even choose a favorite really if you appreciate them all. They're all masterpieces.

  • The mercy killing of the reverend was sad as hell. Only time Al shed a tear.

  • 4:34, that my MY balls bruise.

  • @zephranna01 I read the 4th Season would be the last. The town would burn down and everyone went about their ways.

  • "I DON'T NEED NO FUCKIN' KNIFE!" - SWEDGGIN (SEASON # 2)

  • Who would win in a fight. Al or Quint from Jaws?

  • I love that scene from the end, "Cocksuckers division, captain of the all-whore brigade"

  • @stonebridge999 - You'll find that scene in the montage

Deadwood Best Of Al Swearengen - More Best Of

  • You would NOT wanna be STARIN' that way... at ME.

  • I've seen all 3 seasons 4 times now and I could start over again. Mindblowing stuff!

  • dam he sure likes his knife

  • @zephranna01 Best TV series out there. Gotta hate corporate funding schemes...

  • @imalimase Tied with The Wire!

  • jane is the most annoying character ever

  • that's why god punishes him with hemorrhoids and debilitating kidney stones.

  • I fucking love when he tells Bullock, "You would not want to be staring like that at me." Scary dude.

  • You know, at first i hated this guy a lot.Really did.But as the episodes progressed until the final ones the series make you have a second thought and notice that deep down there is some good in him.Kudos to this wonderful TV show and that magnificent actor,Ian McShane

  • @Yiannis1982 Yeah the actor did a great job. The character is a lot like Omar in The Wire.. part criminal, but bound by a code.

  • @ Terra

Jane ofetn got punked. Cy made her run away once that I can remember.

  • The "euthanasia" at 2:43, taken in context, is actually an act of mercy.

What a scary, compelling, and weirdly-admirable-in-his-consistency character this is...

  • why, pray, admire a rougue as this?

  • Al Swear - Engine :p

  • @rippaallday ROME

  • best show ever made!

  • Very much in line with what the mighty Al Swearengen would have said. Kudos Jinheat

  • Deadwood is my all-time number one.

If I might be permitted to indulge myself and, unworthy as I am, deign to affect a reasonable verimisiltude style of writing as is set out before all-comers in the show; and also illuminate an arresting prescript on the comings and goings of one messer McShane which likely to surprise a British bastard would cause a fuge of disbelief in our American cousin - can it be credited that this force of nature, this rough hewn icon, was in leaner times Lovejoy?

  • Are you E.B. Farnum?

  • fuck i love this show, me and my mates call it "Gun slinging, whiskey drinking, whore abusing angry moustaches"

  • Actually, his ultimate love is scrubbing blood stains off his office floor.

  • The disagreement is mutual. Whiskey and cussing was his ultimate love.

  • No, drinking and swearing was his sex.

  • Deadwood and The Wire- tie for best.

  • Deadwood is MUCH better than The Wire.

  • You are ENTIRELY wrong. Killing was just part of the business. But cussing and drinking was his pasion.

  • But drinking and swearing was his sex.

  • hmm, he likes it, but I think he likes drinking and cussing even more.

  • Do people really believe they all spoke like a "Bonanza" script? All flowery and no swearing?

  • Al Swear Engine?

  • when i started watching the the series on dvd it took awhile to get use to so much cussing but after watching a few dvd's I started to admire his cussing as an art form and no one is his equal

  • best fucking show ever

  • you don't seem halfway like such a halfway bad fucking person...

Exactly what I thought of Al throughout the series. hehe

  • oh yes.

dont fuck with his shit, and you'll do al-right.

    hehe

  • awesome upload

  • *Cy

  • Holy shit! 3:20 the poor guy in the bathtub...what the fuck did he do to Al? The other bathtub guy is like "Shit! I'm next!"

anyone know if he got it from Al next?

  • nah he let him go and sent him to be the messenger - awesome series

  • They stole Wu's dope, which he was gonna sell to Al. The other guy was killed by Cy Tolliver in the last episode.

  • the two of them worked for the rival saloons but both were ope fiends and pillaged one of the supply trains to get their stash. Al, Sye, and Wu talked it over and decided that one of the white guys had to go to appease the Chinese (to insure the continuing import of opium), so he chose to murder his own guy as an example instead of giving him to the Chinese to torture or letting Sye have his way. I think Al did the right thing. The other guy gets his later.

  • he drowned jimmy irons because he killed the chinese opium courier and took his dope and a piece of the dope was going to al for sale and i dont think he whacked out the other guy

  • No, he did not kill Leon, because he knew that in doing so Cy Tolliver would have caused a stink. Truely remarkable actor he plays in this series.

  • @ThroatHole

He didn't kill the other guy (Leon), since he was Tolliver's man and he chose to temporarily keep the peace between himself and the Bella Union.

  • 1:05 Did Al and Jane ever have any scenes together other than this?

Their chemistry seems a little...off...like they don't know each other or are both from different sides of the spectrum.

  • I don't recall any other scenes together off hand... I interpreted that scene as Al being the ONLY person that could possibly scare the shit out of Jane. Al was Al and Jane seemed to be pissing herself.

  • Well, Jane got pretty scared when Cy came and talked to Joanie, she ran away and fetched Mose.

  • @andeaver1937 Yeah, after the Sophia incident, Jane stayed clear of that "cocksucker." She did go with Bolluck and Utter to get bullocks guns and badge back, but that's not one on one. Neither care about eachother and business does not cross paths between them

  • @andeaver1937

Calamity Jane was at one time a whore at Fort Laramie Three-Mile Hog Ranch. Milch has a penchant for exploring the dependent/co-dependent relationship, and here, though it is an early scene in the series, it is true to a vision of a woman terrified of returning to that former life, and all the ghosts that haunt therein.

  • Fucked for food.

  • Sally fucking forth!

  • "Certain facts show in the mug."

    mug = face

  • What did you know about me, Bulluck, first we met. No concern for my feelings.

    That you were a killer.

Certain fact's show in the muck.

yea, he's a good guy. lol. he did have morals for a bastard. but he's a man who will and has done anything to make it.

  • certain facts show in the 'mug'

  • @MultipleScrotum, it's muck as in the mud dude, Al didn't make that phrase up, it's a long time running.

Don't ever try to corect me on Al sayings, you'll lose.

  • Swidjen!

  • Swearengen has to be one of my favorite villians. (I love a good villan more than a hero.) He is one of the most evil "cocksuckers" out there but he has a code of honor and despite his best efforts to hide it he does have a heart. Ian McShane plays the best villians. One thing that always surprises me is how gentle his real voice is. If I just heard his voice when he is out of character I wouldn't know who he was. Even when he plays good guys his voice is much more powerful.

  • For you D&D fans, Al is what I consider Lawful Evil. Cy Tolliver would be either Neutral Evil, maybe chaotic evil. And Bullock Lawful Good.

  • Wow I haven't heard those in a age, but yeah I agree.

  • Bullock'd be Lawful Neutral.

  • Ian Mcshane's potrayal of swearengen may be the best on all of television!

  • thanks.

  • BEST SHOW EVER HBO DUMB FUCKS

  • agreed

  • Bring back Deadwood. Finish it off for the fans

  • AI is king!!

  • Its a shame this show was cancelled after 3 seasons. Ian McShane's character Al Swearengen is probably one of the best villians I have seen anywhere. It was good to see a western that accurately detailed how Deadwood really was.

  • well said. amazing show. amazing acting. amazing writing. I really miss it.

  • al wasnt' a villain

  • Wasn't a villain? Choking and physically abusing women, murdering customers/miners. I would think that would classify him as a villain. His character certainly made the show though. The real Al Swearengen was married 3 times and all of his wives claimed they were physically abused repeatedly (along with the many prostitutes he abused also).

  • I didn't say he was a nice guy. But overall his character had integrity and basically worked towards the general interest of the population at large. Cy tolliver was a villain, and obviously mr. hearst, never mind his geologist. those types of characters fascinate me as they represent more of a real life gray area than the 'superhero' that's often portrayed. One reason why i like "the shield" so much, it illuminates how good+bad can exist in one personality.

  • He was a very interesting and layered character with great depth. But certainly, he was a villain, on the whole.

  • Someone needs to make a music video of nothing but scenes of Swearengen with the song "Bad Mutha"

"Look at me. Know what cha see? Ya see a bad mutha"

  • "I wield a Blade good with my fuck'n Left."

  • Al was the best. He could be so cruel yet so funny at times.

  • best character of any western

  • Al was the best character on the show in my opinion.

  • wish he was my dad! lol

  • Al is fuckin awesome! If anyone can make it happen it's Al. Total badass.

  • Kind of reminds me of the character Powers Booth played in Tombstone. Just a bit more on the bad side.

  • powers booth plays cy tolliver on deadwood. think al could take him?

  • Woo and Swearengen Hangdie

  • daaamn i luv his voice lol

  • great show

    love it
