  • I'm Addicted to this song.. #CRACK!!

  • I really believe the ghost of Ella Fitzgerald lives within her somewhere

  • please don't ever sellout, Janelle.

  • makes me miss my ex

  • La da dye da dye da dye da dye da dye, my friend...

  • The songwriting is genius. A true and rare talent.

  • I love how people are still discovering how brilliant Janelle is I had so many people telling me, upon the release of her project, that they just weren't "feelin' her vibe. I was stunned at the respeonse when I heard such words. From jump, I thought the project was of epic proportions. She let all these artist have it big tyme. Who even writes such amazing songs such as this these days.....and delivers brilliantly.

  • This woman is sooo deeep!!

  • I cry everytime

  • Bey, Mariah,James Brown, Prince, And Of Course Janelle wrapped upin one. lol.

  • oh shit i remember this suit chick in that video with that hairstyle.

  • this is some Pink Floyd stuff at the End...Loved it

  • The ending of this song is so effing amazing, but I can't quite pinpoint why it is. I think I'm getting a 50s vibe. Like the jazz singers of the time. If that's not what I'm getting... then it's something else. Whatever it is... it's awesome.

  • @TMBuxton I was JUST explaining that to my friend earlier tonight!! WoW!! Chorus really does sound like a 50ish, I love it!!

Lost inside a lonely world where lovers pay the price

Barely get the sound of music to love and go dance to

Now it's time for us to go and no one ever has to know

You're love's in my pocket and your eyes, eye's are in my,

Eyes in my soul, no one will know it but me

When she says "no one will know it but me" you can't tell me she's not reaching your soul!!!

  • @demariojason Word, Demario! Glad to see someone else was thinking along the same wavelength! And yes, it pierces your soul most definitely. As well as all the unexpected endings to all of her other songs.

  • Janelle and Esperanza Spalding have to get together!! It will be magic!

  • @grayngreen8 omgosh yeah!

  • @grayngreen8 That's my one wish.

  • I can't imagine the bitter end of all the beauty we're living in ether, Ms. Monae

  • I heard the colors in the flowers oooooooooooooooooooooooh~

my favorite part of the song. ;)

  • the ending on this song is fucking amazing. i don't know why it sounds so amazing.

  • wow..... her music is blowing me away

  • this sounds like "hey there delilah" by plian white t's. still like this song. just sayin.

  • @awezomesauzee no it doesn't. Only the intro has the same sort of strumming pattern, 99% of the song sounds nothing like Hey There Delilah.

  • @sweetbutdaring Thank you for saynig exactly what I felt when I read that lolz

  • I luv this song every time I listen to this song it takes me away! #higher

  • I love this song

  • The beginning of this song is very much like "The Pretenders - Don't get me wrong"........... I love the mash up of styles. Beautiful lyrics <3

  • She's underrated now.. but not for long #TeamMonae <3

  • The most female underrated artist , Janelle Monae . b watch out :)

  • Janelle sets the bar too high for the others to reach. I love that her quality might inspire others to step up their game.

  • I get chills whenever I hear this song. A beautiful song.

  • THUMBS UP FOR THE ENDING TO THIS TRACK!!!!!!!!!!

  • @deizel90 i lovve the ending..its a perfect way to end a great song

  • I can't get enough of that song

  • @shargor And somehow I don't get it when I am wasted.

  • it's like The Beatles, then it transforms at the chorus, it's like Alicia Keys! Love this woman, why is she so snubbed?!

  • i met her last week at the underage festival, London !!! best moment of my life! lool but anyway i asked her about this song and she told me that its a letter to God by Cyndi Mayweather

  • Beautiful! <3

  • REPLAY ABUSE!!!! can't deal with the rest of the album tho' ;(

  • i love this whole song but i love the ending. just adds that perfect drop of feeling t the end

  • pretty song:D

  • Makes me thinks of a female version of Marvin Gaye. I guess it's a combination of her meaningful words, passionate vocal performance, and the overall production.

  • Genius!

  • If you like janelle check out...

    watch?v=uZV0dO01MhI

  • She's so musically exciting I want to break my own jaw with a tennis racket

  • @andyourmother LoL WOW! That would be rather painful, eh? =P

  • - i LOVE the ending of the song

  • Great song and artist.

  • I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!! &&& you know what i appreciate real MUSIC!!!!!! get up on this!!! :)

  • I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!! &&& you know what i appreciate real MUSIC!!!!!! get up on this!!! :)

  • I have to listen to her cd only once a month. Reason being is her voice and message speaks so loudly to my spirit, past and present until most times I end up crying from some of her songs. Her voice beautiful, but her aura is even more alluring! I have both Metropolis and The Archandroid. Both are a masterpiece in its own right. Unfortunately because she doesn't succumb to commercialism, she won't be recognized as much as other mediocre artist that are out now or to come.

  • What Stevie Wonder song is this reminiscent of?

  • no one will know it but me.

  • This girl has her own style, I didnt love some of her songs, but I totally love her already, she is the kind of artist we need these days, we need more brained music like this, I can't stand another music about party, clubs, party, drinks, party, chicks, party, tonight is the night and so on -.- I WANNA JANELLE MONAE ON THE RADIO !!

  • beauty and brains and talent i can go on but Janelle Monae is just so damn imperfect*

  • this album is unbelievable, it's hard to believe music like this is being made nowadays, truly shocking in the best possible way...best r&b album of the 2000's so far in my opinion, not that it had much competition

  • she reminds me of a female version of andre 3000..for some strange odd feeling

  • You really have to listen to these songs with earphones. You can really hear the great production. It's like a whole other experience.

  • This album is amazing!! It just shows that REAL music is not on the radio.

  • this song makes me cry inside . cry from relief.

  • Mmmm food for my soul. Thank you Janelle Monae and thanks for posting

  • She can do so much with her voice. love it

  • I love the different layers to her voice.

  • Idk why but every time I hear this song I think of "Hey There Delilah"..think the melody is similar in the beginning? Idk what it is... but Amazing song! Love good music.

  • @DeeDee1113 i thought the same thing

  • what is the meaning of the "This love would burn so yellow

Becoming orange and in its time

Explode from grey to black then bloody wine " ?? im doing an art piece and needed help in how to incorporate that part.. please and thank you! <3

  • @alicemariah it means the love was great, cause when a fire is burning yellow it is burning bright, then it dulled slightly at orange, and so on

  • @alicemariah I THINK SHE'S TALKING ABOUT LOVE GOING FROM GREAT TO BAD... STARTING AT YELLOW (WHICH MEANS BRIGHT AND GOOD) THEN GOING TO BLOODY WINE, WHICH MEANS NOT SO GOOD... JUST MY TAKE ON IT...

  • @5646YAS

i think shes meditaing talking to god . the way it should be without fear . shes questioning her love for him his existence and then questions herself .

  • Bought this Albumn. Its Nice, better than what I expected. Top Albumn in a long time. I'm really glad I supported her.

  • how is this not number one on itunes......

  • i can't wait to go and buy her CD.... what a talent!! what a gift! she speaks to my heart, to my soul.... to my spirit.

  • shes sounds like Michael jackson

  • I really don't understand how hacks like Ke$ha and Katy Perry are on the radio and this chick isn't. Very beautiful and soulful stuff here.

  • @iAreRenHo3k everyone wants to f*** them, and not Janelle... pretty simple concept to be honest

  • @Masenken I disagree. I would totally fuck Janelle.

  • @iAreRenHo3k maybe true, but you unfortunately don't represent the majority who's only starin' at some open legs and nice tatas

  • @iAreRenHo3k being on the radio doesnt defirentiate between a good and a bad artist. Her music is so great that Idont mind having to log on to youtube to enjoy it

  • @iAreRenHo3k I agree she is a god send. i dont listen too top 40 shit music BUT i know good music and she is it. a diamond in the rough...for some reason i think of grace jones why is that? lol

  • @iAreRenHo3k :( i like katy perry, lol ... but its because everyone is brain washed this woman is the truth and you know how humanity and the truth don't get along LMAO

  • @iAreRenHo3k That's the music biz for you!

  • Comment removed

  • @iAreRenHo3k : I agree with you. She needs more credit than she's given. I would enjoy her on the radio :)

  • @iAreRenHo3k Wanna know why?

Because they make instantly catchy music.

    Stop being so elitist.

  • @Stickmaleboy instant crap u mean?

  • why does everything have to be about race and gender? calm the fuck down.

  • ....In my defense the specification doesnt seem that evident to me, but im not gonna say that i wasnt wrong. The foot has been inserted to mouth this time ...*o*...... apologies.

  • the city's on her mind.

  • It's a possibility that she is just all about the music - why does everything have to be about race or gender?

In my opinion, that's what's wrong with this world. You wanna make problems, make something about race or gender. It'll catch fire faster than a forest in a drought.

  • if you like janelle you will probly like solange knowles. both very out of the box.

  • I <3 LUV THIS SONG, I LOVE THE WHOLE ALBUM , I JUS DON`T GET THE MESSAGE OF THIS SONG THOUGH

  • @MrMitchell12996 I'm not sure but I think she is referring to a loved one she lost in death , and dealing with the aftermath ...she is left to suffer with their loss, but finds comfort in knowing that she was loved... this is just a random guess...i need clarification my darn self...lol

  • 0:00-0:16 should be in a "tide" washing detergent commercial

  • i love you Janelle so much... you is very pretty and important in the life all girl's the world. Thank for you exist, know you blessing lifes

    I LOVE YOU

  • ...It's Cleopatra of the modern day...

  • Fantastic artist... her storytelling is superb

there are not enough people of this caliber these days

  • I THINK THAT JANELLE MONAE IS A BEAUTYFUL BRONZE WOMAN AND THAT ANYONE WHO THINKS OTHERWISE NEEDS TO KEEP THERE OPPINONS TO THEMSELVES!!

  • @eghaggard bronze? wtf

  • @eghaggard CAPITAL LETTERS MAKE EVERYTHING BETTER!!

  • i wish this song was longer!!!

  • 2 people like Ke$ha

  • @loganthegreat lol Who cares who they like? We all like JANELLE. Fuck Ke$ha...she does not belong here. Let her fans dislike this video and be on their way. More good music for us ^_^

  • @Shea354 Yeah I like Janelle AND Ke$ha, but I guess I'm weird like that :P

  • @SuperLink517 lol Hey, whatever floats your boat. I personally don't care for her, but that's me. People like what they like. Ke$ha doesn't belong on a Janelle Monae vid, and Miss Monae doesn't belong on a Ke$ha vid. It's all about whoever you're listening to, I think. But that doesn't matter. People have their own tastes in music. Who are we to say otherwise?

  • @Shea354 Yeah definitely. People like what they like for whatever reason! That's why we have variety right? :P

  • @SuperLink517 Don't worry. I like Ke$ha, too!!

  • @SuperLink517 , ur not wierd, if u like janelle monae` - u like true music

  • disliking shit like this goes beyond taste and preference. if you're real, real music speaks to you. can't get around it. deaf people hear good music and blind people see it. and then there are those two idiots, lol....

  • @mizzsoulsista :) i like that " if your real real music speaks to you " made me smile lol

  • This album, at least to me, proves that music is a great healer of the heart, soul, and mind.

  • This is my favourite song by a LONG WAY at the moment!

  • janelle monae is the new crack. im sooo addicted.

  • @lenbrian I knooooooooowwwww.....it's all I listen to :D

  • I don't know about anyone else, but I was just gettin started at 2:27; gettin lost in the harmonies... song, don't end..... come back......

  • theres those 2 idiots clikin da dislike button again

  • How could you dislike this song?! :O

  • @sweetbutdaring , ikr

  • This sister is super creative and it's been awhile since a woman like her was in the music industry.

  • I think Janelle is trying to overcome the problem of people typecasting artists into a specific genre. Her work I think inspires alot of people in my generation to not have to stick to one genre, and chillax with the comparisons with Lady Gaga and whoever. They are all talented in their own right..

  • ohh goodness what is she saying at the end.

  • @m1sstee23Lost inside a lonely world

    where lovers pay the price.

Barely get the sound of music

to love and go dance to.

Now, it's time for us to go

and no one ever has to know

your love was in my pocket

and your eyes, eyes are in my, my soul....

No one will know it but me....

  • Janelle Monae is to R&B is how Kanye West is to Hip-Hop. Taking a genre which was dying with commercialized meaningless crap and making it alive with pure innovation. And also opening up the images of each genres. Kanye showed that you didn't have to be gansta to make good rap, and Janelle is showing that you don't need to be bouncing around half naked to make good R&B.

  • @aestar2012 don't be so quick to write off everybody else in R&B, you gotta give credit to Erykah Badu, the queen of neo-soul who's been keepin r&b honest all these years

  • @aestar2012

    Well put, man,

  • @aestar2012 Not every female artist is going to cover their bodies up. If you got it, flaunt it. Telling someone else to keep their clothes just because you may feel insecure about yourself is sad. Janelle is Janelle. The other artists are the other artists.

Why is everybody trying to put musicians in one damn box but scream about the lack of originality? Makes no sense.

  • @UnordinaryNegro I agree. People should express themselves as they see fit, but don't you see there is a formulaic quality for females breaking into the industry. Girl is good looking and halfway good singer. Make a mediocre auto-tuned song with a sexy music video. Look at every other female on the Top 40 list (especially the on hit wonders). We're not putting artists in a box, if someone wants to be sexy, its fine. You can do whatever you want as long as you have the talent to back it up.

  • @aestar2012 True that sir, they definitely saved their genres and created the best albums of 2010

  • @aestar2012 Not to mention Janelle is very articulate and humble and pleasant unlike Kanye, lol

  • @SIRGAGA123 I'm talking about their careers and talent, not their personalities

  • @aestar2012 I know, hers is an added plus, that's why I said "not to mention"...

  • @SIRGAGA123 I don't really have much of an idea, so I can't say, but from I see she seems chill

  • @aestar2012 *can

  • @aestar2012 FUCK YEA R&B

  • @aestar2012

I was telling that to my bro when i discover this girl ........ so beautiful in plus :-)

  • @aestar2012

I'm sorry, but you just implied that Kanye West ISN'T commercialized crap........LOL.

  • @Hraefn14 Well he isn't. Commercialized crap is like Soulja Boy and the Cali Swag District.

  • @aestar2012 man, you don't know much about hihop. no offence.

  • @ironkrz prove it, no offence

  • @aestar2012 i meant no offence but i appreciate your sarcasm. Just dont post bullshit bout hiphop is dying and that its all stupid gangster stuff. Check out Mos def , blackalicious or the others. they are cool. true story

  • @ironkrz I know about Mos Def and Blackalicious. I'm talking about the mainstream bullshit, like New Boyz and Soulja Boy that gets all the airplay and TV time. Its a shame that few rappers that are actually good don't get that type of circulation, thats my main beef. You misunderstood my statement.

  • Comment removed

  • @ariel12955 Trust me. I know that (you're talking to the person who's reloading The Weeknd's website like crazy to get the Thursday mixtape when it came out), but I'm talking about the mainstream stuff, like Chris Brown and the army of one hit wonders which fill up the Top 40 lists.

  • @quicktolisten I thought this too. And ABBA's "Fernando"

  • This is my Favorite song on the album, it reminds of a happy times of a past relationship

  • She has too much meaning in her lyrics to be compared to someone like lady gaga's krazy butt....

  • @nayonico LMAO. 4Real

  • Janelle is a one woman wonder bringing magic back to music....

    PLEEEEASE don't stop JANELLE!!!!!!

Bring it on! MORE! More music genius!!!!! Can't get enough.....

  • Funny How people are comparing her to Gaga. Janelle was Making Music way before Lady Gaga. When did "letting go" come out. Way before any one ever heard of Gaga
