That coat was in the room with Kurt when he died, a few feet from his body, on the floor by the shotgun case. Kurt wasn't wearing it when he died, that part is Courtney's embellishment or confusion. In the police reports, they said he was wearing a Half Japanese shirt, a long sleeve shirt over it (the photos show it was a flannel), blue jeans, and black tennis shoes. There is no mention or sighting of that jacket in the police reports or the pictures of his body in the greenhouse.

He was wearing his white & pink pinstriped button up dress shirt , along with his half japanese t shirt
there's even a photo of his body being shown briefly & you can clearly see what he's wearing
this makes it seem suspicious even more than before

There was a coat at the scene but he wasn't wearing it. Check the greenhouse diagram as it shows it. I think the spent shell was found on it.
