If you want to see a light cycle realised search for this vid: Tron Lightcycle Test Drive Parker Brothers Choppers TRON Legacy.wmv or the latest one Final Tron Lightcycle Parker Brothers Choppers Fire Flame Remix
That would be so awkward to ride. Especially for us guys. Find the video of the fully functional light cycle and the guys riding it and you'll see what I mean.
i just seen one of these built by a custom chopper company, its rimless drive and everything! its beautiful to look at! this is the future of travel. i'd even buy a car that looked like this!
Man if they actually started a trend of speed bikes or ninja bikes mimicking the TRON look... dang that would be bad ass to see a pack of these on the freeway at night.... Thumbs up!
Actually, one company made like 6 of them. Parker Brothers, I believe. They are all fully functionally, hubless wheels, and street legal. The have some videos on youtube of one of them. They're bad ass.
@KidJayce The technology is there for the taking. Dainese and alpinestars should make a bike gear like this. It will improve the visibility which is cruccial for a biker. To bad i didnt have allot of money to start it.
@Raptorx007 Well the light's might improve the visibility of the rider to other vehicles, but the rider is lower and less mobile so they can't see as much, additionally, they're going to hit stuff head first, which is a bad plan.
@devafanda i would imagine that there is a wheel that the motor is spinning that is touching the big back wheel causing that to spin in the opposite direction... if that makes sense
I would love to see a video of that bike trying to make a realistic u-turn until then it is a cool concept, but utterly useless in reality. Without a realistic turning radius it does not ride like a sport bike, and would end up sitting in the garage of a guy who owns 10 motorcycles, but never really rides any of them.
The bikeshop that build the bikes for the movie made 20 extra working bikes that were auction on ebay for about $35K each & I believe they are electric, but haven't yet been delivered, because by contract they can't release them before the movie opens on Dec 17th 2010.
@stapletonm14 yeah it would be...if the design didnt hurt ur back like a bitch. They designed it in the light cycles "stretch" mode which is when they get more speed in the movie by leaning forward and pushing the bike outwards when they should have stuck with a comfortable normal ride. Its also got a chopper engine in there which i think also ruins the tron-ness.
@stapletonm14 we have the friction drive tech for this type of bike and electric motors to drive it so im pretty sure someone could build it in fact someone already has!
wait how is the rider to dismount the bike?
