I love this scene. It's dramatised and stylistic, but O'Neil indeed was one of the fathers of modern unarmed combat. Most military unarmed combat systems can trace their roots back to O'Neil, Underwood, Fairbairn, Sykes and Applegate.
The First Special Service Force had the nickname the Black Devils. They earned it at the Anzio Beachhead for making night raids while wearing black face paint.

I think that's the Red Devils.
The Devil's Bridge is what the Germans called the FSSF during WWII. They also called them the Black Devils, I think.
The weird thing is...Dermot O'Neill was Irish, not Canadian.
