nice job. I love opera. Sounds like the piano was rushing the song though. In a few spots it would have been nice to have the music more joined and be able to flow more to really contrast the different emotions and tempo. Amazing voice.
hey i got to juilliard, and i'm about to do this song for a recital, you're doing great for 18! Something that will help you, on rammenta on the A pitch, use a closed "a" as in "chaotic," your doing eh almost like "bed" and it's harder on that pitch to sing, try it out! good luck!
this is great stuff man...keep up the good work. try not to open your mouth too much when you sing. if you go search the bel canto teaching video in youtube with pavarotti, sutherland and some other lady, they sing with like their mouth open as if they're talking, but singing enough to fill the metropolitan. i'm also a young tenor about to take this song to the juries in college (19). good luck!
First off, a wonderful song. Cant go wrong with Tosti. The tempo is way too fast. Nevertheless, the singer does a fine job as to keep up with the pianist- while although it should be the other way.
The expression is good however the diction needs work and so does the singers legato phrasing. Technique can be worked on, gosh hes only 18.
I think if he were to spend 4 months in Italy and really get the Italian in his ear, the natural legato...he will be a lot better off.
Yoou have a fine voice and with much more experience, should go far. You should listen to versions of this Tosti song by the innumerable great singers of the past. Not to copy them but to learn all the subtleties of nuance, dynamic and rubato currently missing from you very bland interpretation. Good Luck with your career. Vivian Liff
haha! like you can sing like him! Critics are merely those that tried but failed in the past. I love all these youtube comments that act like authorities.
