@freedomland11 There would be absolutely nothing wrong with just writing a check, and i am sure most celebrities do that occasionally, but the idea behind benefits is not only to raise money but to get the word out as well about whatever cause it is they are working for, throwing a concert is a fun way of raising money, and in a way it is like he wrote a 1 million dollar check every year to them because he could have played a million dollar concert and pocketed it, instead he donates it.
