@HeathrowPilot No can't remember from that long ago. I usually try to get a window seat that's just behind the wing. With online booking you usually get a diagram of the aircraft showing where the wing is.
@thamesking Well i got myself a window seat (29J) when i booked today. But I just wanted to see what it would look like from inside. But thanks anyway =)
@kenpalmer1965 Thanks for the comment. Almost forgot about this video - only 5000 views in 2 years but I love the sunshine appearing when the plane gets above the cloud.
Hi Speedbird - nearly all big airliners take off with a small amount of flap, about 10 -20 degrees, to reduce take-off speed and shorten the take-off run. There is an upper limit of speed for each amount of flap and you will see the flaps being retracted in stages after take-off as the speed increases. Flaps give drag as well as lift so if the pilot didn't retract them the flaps and the wings would be damaged. But pilots wouldn't let that happen.
Flew on One of Monarchs A300's to Rhodes last year. And for an Aircraft which is as old as me, it is by far one of the smoothest aircraft i have ever been on. And on a short haul flight, the take off run is so short and steep. Not very roomy tho.
Also love the bit were you break through the clouds, really does show how fast you are actually go, with the clouds whizzing past.
Thanks for your coments. The A300 is a great aicraft but I'm not a particular fan - I just flew on one twice, to and from a skiing trip in February this year (2009). Impressive performance even from a plane that is quite old now.
I flew on this aircraft from Manchester to Tenerife in March, great performance but lacking some modern interior with an aircraft that size you would expect atleast some tv screens in the front seat but yet they were in the isle. They seem to be using there older aircraft alot recently and preserving there newer one's :(
Nice.! Great view of the airport. When i took off from belfast last saturday it was similar except the cloud was lower. (Check out my video). Judging by your videos - are you a big A300 fan?
Nice vid! I always thought the a300 took off with no flaps. I recently had 2 flights on LH a300's and both took off without flaps. I love the rocket-like climb of the a300!
realy nice vid, take off seemed very steep and a very slow climb, i have only travelled on a monarch a300 once 3 years ago, and it was awfull, how was the flight..?
The flight was great but the seats were the hardest I've ever sat in - they really crammed us on for this ski-special flight. But it was only for an hour and 10 minutes.
Love the sound! =D Do you possibly remember what seat you were sat in?

When are flaps raised after takeoff cause surley the speeds would damage them, unless you throttle down...Help?
