This used to be one of the themes of my radio show. I woke up today with the bridge running through my head really loud. Had to come on line and find it.
@1957Jimmer Thanks again, Jimmer! I guess that ends the discussion of that lyric! What a great Town & Country track - and one of The Rave-Ups' best, IMO. You can just get lost in this song.
#1 Awesome band, especially "Town and Country", an album I'm still listening to 25 years later.
#2 I always thought the 3rd lyric issue was "minimal, animal, it is the borrowed beast". Guess we'll all keep loving the tune, no matter what words we're using.
one of the best songs by anyone ever it dont even matter what the words are.thanks for posting. the only way i've been able to hear this is off a beat up old cassette from my college radio days at KCSN out of cal state northridge in the mid 80's again THANKS!!!!!!
I noticed later that you had other lyrics missing. I can see why. Those are tougher, but I'll give them a shot. Quoted words are possibly/probably wrong, but are phonetically close.
1) it's in the highway.
2) Your sin is in that you forget
3) "Men along, at among", it is the "far o" peace.
4) Sense of the fish, "false" of the ape.
It's funny... 8 trillion lyrics on the internet, and nothing on the Rave-ups.
I'm 100% sure on #1 and #2... but you are correct on #4, it's "pulse of the ape"... and that makes much more sense anyways. Good catch!
#3 is still problematic. The third and sixth syllable are not exactly the same sound. But, compared to the way he sings other words, it sounds like it should be: Min-a-long, add-a-mong.... it is the borrowed peace.
But, I can't twist that into anything that makes lyrical sense.

Actually, it is "minimal, animal, it is the borrowed beast; sense of the fish, pulse of the ape."

One of the most underrated and under heard bands of the 80s.
The only place I heard them was on the left end of the radio dial.

I thought the lyrics were:
1) Sing the highway

If you listen closely, he slurs the words "It's in". It comes out sounding like "Tsin the highway".

I think your missing lyrics are:
"Your sin is in that you forget"
(but I'm not positive). Thanks for sharing... great track!
