  • This composition is awesome man. The harmonic structure and melody sound as professional as some of the best modern jazz artists. And the improv is great as well. Keep it up man.

  • @bigjk68845 Thank you for the kind words. I'll try not to let you down with the next original.

  • If music was food I would eat this right away and absorb all the rich nutrients it contains.

  • @BlikeNave Haha, thanks man. In musical terms, I definitely like to try and be a slow-food chef. Most of the time.

  • Geoff, I agree with the others---this is a very, very nice piece!!! It really does feel Shorter-esque, and I mean that in a very complimentary way. You are not copying, but you have absorbed well. I, too, love the inherent logic..................

  • @yonickus Thank you for the kind words. Somebody would have to be a complete ego maniac for being insulted by having their music compared to that of Wayne Shorter. The jazz guys that I've really dug into, as far as transcribing and itemizing vocabulary are mostly the bebop guys but I've been soaking in the modern masters (Hancock, Shorter, Brecker, etc) through my sub-conscious since I was 17 and it's good to know that it's starting to come out in my music.

  • nice tune geoff, you sound killin!

  • @a6ickes Thanks Ashley!

  • wayyyy better

  • @professorlamp Yeah, I think I'm gonna delete the first take. LOL

  • Really cool, I felt like I was listening to wayne shorter at some parts. I'd love to hear it with a full band.

  • @BoxCubeSquare Thank you. Shorter kills me. I'm humbled by the comparison. I could only hope to be half the player he is.

  • i usually dont like jazz, but i liked this

  • @endauthority Jazz is such a broad term that it's difficult not to at least find something you like.

  • @endauthority There is a lot of jazz similar to this out there. It won't come looking for you but if you go to it, you'll be rewarded by it's insights and totally unique brand of enjoyment. Jazz is musically the most anti-authoritarian music in the history of western music so with a screen-name like endauthority, you deffinately shouldn't give up on jazz until you've really been exposed to the real deal stuff.

  • Awesome. I love the logic behind this composition. Not only does it have a really interesting and mathematically justified structure, it sounds brilliant! Excellent stuff as usual.

  • @officervanhalen Thanks man, I really appreciate the positive feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
