I saw a Dr. John at Hersh Memorial Colesium in Shreveport La. back in 70's There were 2 opening bands for Dr. John. The 2 opening bands were Kiss and Bob Seegar, None knew who they were. Dr. John put on a hell of a show, he had trumpets Pimp hats with big feathers and a lot of stuff. Never will forget that concert.. It cost 12.00 to get next to stage area, that was top of the line back then.
Jeff Healey sitting over to the way right side. (blind guitar cat from the 80's who played with guitar on his lap) Dr John (and this band) - great stuff.
I just saw him LIVE in Mt. Pleasant,Michigan at the Soaring Eagle Casino just 10 hours ago,he opened for the Neville Brothers! He's 68 years old and can still jamm down with the best of them! New Orleans-boogie-blues-voodoo-funk was never better! I was in the RIGHT PLACE,and I made it at the right time!
This show was amazing. red hot chili peppers appeared, SRV, Clapton, Robert Cray, staple singers, you name it. House band was tight. Phenominal players. Omar, Marcus, hiram, Phillipe. Wow. Too bad DVD's of this show are not for sale!!!
I remember staying up late with the GF just to watch this show w/ Jools Holland & David Sanborn. Memories.. Hiram was always awesome on guitar. Every song they did was right on. He really nailed those solos and rhythm parts. With impeccable tones, as always. When they used to have real music on TV..There's no soul like this in todays business class neutered "music"..
sunnofabitch. This is horrible news. I don't even recognize his picture in the Wiki. When I saw him, playing with Sanborn at Red Rocks, he lit the whole place on fire. Sanborn's act was by and large super cheese... but Bullock had the whole place jumping up and down. He was a wiry dude then. (late 80s).
11 people were in the wrong place...

Kimpo, that sure looks like Marcus on bass. I know that Omar Hakim was the drummer. And the late Hiram Bullock on guitar. What a lineup!

Harim plays a killer solo. He anticipates the beat with precision. Check out how he leads into the downbeat with amazing feel and technique.
