  • you made it very easy for us with this video... can you please update your guide to CM9 .. eagerly waiting for this...

    thank you for this video

  • Thanks buddy. Perfect 10 out of 10. I followed your guide and installed android on my touchpad without a single issue...

  • minecraft bro

  • Thank you so much for the help. I used this to install CM 9 and it worked well!

  • Very good video, but the pace is horrendously slow...I don't think you really need to do things like spell out every single thing we need to type.

  • thanks a lot!

  • Thanks for all your help! This has to be one of the best step by step videos I have seen.

  • I was able to update my CyanogenMod 7 alpha 3.5 to CyanogenMod 9 alpha 2

    Steps

Replace ACMEInstaller with ACMEInstaller2 same location as the this tutorial says

In the cminstall folder in touchpad replace the file with update-cm-9.0.0-RC0-Touchpad-alpha2-fullofbugs.zip update-cwm_tenderloin-1012.zip moboot_0.3.5.zip gApps 4.0.3 11.12.22.zip

Shutdown the touchpad, restart press & hold the volume button

Until big USB icon on your screen (Same as the youtube video)

  • novacom boot mem:// [insert less than symbol here] ACMEInstaller2

The installation will start, when Hp touchpad start for the first time ICS it would update the files.

Restart the HP select ClockworkMod Recovery

Use the volume keys to scroll down to gApps 4.0.3 11.12.22.zip

After that I did clear a cache under advance, cannot remember the name it was an option in one of the forms i read.

Restart the HP tocuhpad, starting of the ICS it would do one more update of the file.

    ICS ready :)

  • @ssahdal I keep getting an "UNKNOWN COMMAND" error in terminal with ACMEInstaller2.

Anyone else have this problem and now a solution? I installed CM7 just fine, and uninstalled it just fine.. Just can't get CM9.

  • @jim82mac nevermind, figured it out.. I was in USB Drive mode still, not "disk recovery mode"....

  • I had the same result... I had to "power" + "menu" + "vol. up" to reboot. Then I tried again, The problem is the instructions are 3 months old. Although you are typing "ACMEInstaller" you really need to type "ACMEInstaller2." To be honest, I don't remember how I "fixed" the problem because I tried both spellings and I double checked the (opt) (nova) (bin) folder(s) to be double sure of the spelling. I am not a good typist, so I just kept trying.. be careful to include the spaces too.

  • @flash4yish So now, I am happy to say that I am running CM9 ! Still trying to figure out why Flash is not working on ESPN website, but other than that I am 100% with it and I appreciate "huskermania" for putting this nice video up on YouTube. Thanks again!

  • Great tutorial. The only one I've found that shows you how to do this with a Mac.

  • Could you please put a video how do you update from CyanogenMod 7 alpha 3.5 to CyanogenMod 9 alpha 2 with all the steps for mac

  • @ssahdal YESSS!!!!!!!!! I couldn't do it myself, because novacom's being a douche! HELP I WANT ICS

  • how wpuld you uninstall can you make a video on that

  • Please do a tutorial on how to update from this to CyanogenMod 9 alpha 0.6!!!!!!! very well explained, I have gingerbread now, but I can't wait for ics!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Very well explained, but it didn't install CM. Just moboot. Weird. I followed all procedure with CM9 (did ACMEInstaller2 in the command aswell) but it didn't work.

  • That was the most clearly explained installation tutorial I have ever seen. Well done sir!

  • Pls update your guide to CM 9!

  • Thank you. It was done so well and I got it this time. I have tried twice before from other how to videos but there was always a snag.

  • Thank you so much for this video, I could only find ways to update via windows...and I didn't want to have to pull the old pc out!! After a few hiccups I got it! now to upgrade to ICS!

  • mine does not reboot into clockwork mod it goes back to cyanogen mod. How do I solve this?

  • my dam thing just stopped and i assumed it was done and unplugged it, so how do i restart it.

  • when i try to reboot it does not give me the option on picking cm7

  • Comment removed

  • DO NOT use Safari, it automatically unzips the files. To save time use Google Chrome or Mozilla!

  • Also don't forget do not unzip the update cm... .zip file like all Mac's do automatically.

  • Thanks a Bunch you helped me get ICS running on my touchpad.

  • thank you very easy to understand i needed that....

  • Worked Perfectly..

    You the man!

  • For those who already have CM7 and are now wanting to upgrade to ICS, this is a great refresher, if like me you just needed the exact terminal command and have all your new files (ACMEinstaller2) in place, goto 8:25 of this video and just remember to add the "2" at the end for ACMEinstaller2 :)

  • this was the best tutorial I've EVER watched. It works beautifully! THANK YOU. You've won a subscriber. Look forward to your ICS tutorial on the Touchpad.

  • mine says "no cminstall dir found, nothing to install"

  • Stellar tut! Thanks so much!!

  • Excellent Tut! Concise and precise!

    Thanks

  • You can easily cd to any directory by dragging the folder itself into the terminal window.

  • When I try try to install cyanogen, it starts installing but never finishes & just ends with a cursor flashing. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

  • Great work. Thank you for laying out the steps so clearly.

  • yep same here i dont get the list of the boot options it goes to webos rightaway...what to do???

  • Thanks for the vid, it helped a lot!!

  • This is the most amazing and well put together vid on youtube... bravo sir bravo.

  • for some reason i dont get the list of boot options screen...it automatically boots to webos...i have followed the steps...i see every screen shot listed in the tutorial on my hp screen except for the boot options screen...PLEASE HELP...

  • I followed your instructions exactly and when I typed "novacom boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller", without quotes of course, and hit enter, I get the message "failed to connect to server". I can't figure out what server I'm trying to connect to or why I would even need to connect to a server because all of the files are on my Mac and my Touchpad. Any idea as to what's wrong?

  • @urkman7 Google: "Novacom complaining “failed to connect to server”"

    Worked like a charm.

  • @enzofx Thanks! Got CM7 installed and it's running like a dream!

  • I just want to say this is the best video out there to do this, the step by step process made it so easy. I just had to be patient because my hp was a lot slower in the process of changing over so I thought I had done something wrong, but anyway I do have a question my camera stop working and I cant oovoo do you know what may be causing this to happen. When I try to call someone it just shows a black screen.

  • The webos sdk download is not working on my mac. When I open the file it always stop´s at the last step and says that a "problem occourred"! I need help please! Any Ideas?

  • Thank you so much for this. Was simply flawless and idiot proof!!!!

  • do you know why I do not have Clockworkmod installed after getting Cyanogen Mod successfully installed? I have a working setup but when I try to reboot to recovery it does not have a listing for CWM even though the file was added into the cminstall folder as directed via your video. Any suggestions?

  • Hey, I get to the part where I put in the command novacom boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller and when I hit enter it says "-bash: novacom: command not found" and I have everything in the Zip files, I unzipped the ACMEInstaller and placed it where you did and I am still stuck, any ideas?

  • Awesome! Thank you so much for the step-by-step.

  • very smooth great job

  • when I get to the last part of the terminal, it says "unable to find device" even tho my touchpad is plugged in

  • @tpolchies nvm my dad helped me

  • im not getting the option to "boot cyanogemod" in the moboot screen.. i have boot webos, clockworkmod, webos recover reboot and shutdown. any ideas?

  • OK SO now.. eveything works well until i finish writing the codes in the terminal... my hp freezes at the (hp) sign... and nothing happens [the ubuntu stuff and the words going upward.. non of that happens !! whats the problems ??

  • you got mine craft cool!

  • great, thank you

  • Also, if you are stuck running the black screen terminal, hold power and home button together for a few secs and the tablet will reset and nothing should be different, it just escapes that screen.

  • you are the man. thanks so much.

I had trouble at first because my safari automatically extracts zip files; make sure in preferences for safari that you uncheck the "open safe files box" so when you move all those files to cminstall they're still .zip files not opened folders, bc mine were opened folders at first when that box was checked and I tried to run the terminal the first time and it said initial install images not found and had some alarms -4 or -5 at the end.

  • @lodoma did you find out why it was doing that?

  • Fantastic! thank you!

  • Keep files as .zip when putting in cminstall. Do not extract them. That was my issue.

    Great install. Thanks.

  • Did everything you said and it works flawlessly! Thanks for the tutorial!

  • you broke my tablet and i just got it today fro christmas

  • @MultiElEcTrOnIcFrEaK did you hand him your tablet? no? guess who really broke it?

    just sayin'

  • you stupid retard

  • its says initial install files not found download them

  • awesome mate awesome! thanks very much

  • Nevermind... Safari was unzipping my files, so I unchecked

"open 'safe' files after download" and copied the .zip files as directed and it worked great!

  • I have the same problem as jonkrasny1 where it said stop printing. found a post that said to unplug and now i'm stuck at setting bus scaling index 1.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Thanks for the video. Step-by-step walkthroughs are always helpful.

  • Never mind, I'm a NOOOOOB! Had the ACMEInstaller in the wrong spot. DUH!

  • I've followed all the steps, but the Touchpad just seems to be stuck on the HP logo after I type the terminal command. I waited for what seems like 20 minutes, and nothing happens. Finally held the power button until it shut off. Booted normally to WebOS, but no mods :( Any suggestions would be most helpful.

  • If you get stuck on the install screen, please be wait awhile for it. My touchpad was stuck on it for ten minutes and then it just started working its way through to finish.

  • Thank you so much Huskermania!!! Worked perfectly! So easy to install!! Thank you sooooo much. I've been trying to find a simple way to do this on a mac for the longest (kept getting stuck at what to do with ACME installer and where to put the file), and this is the most informative and easiest step by step, walk through guide I've found. Thanks a million!

  • This Video Worked for me Thank You. Though for some reason on the first boot up it did not ask me which OS to boot up as.(It booted straight into Droid OS)

  • NVM

  • I messed up on the files and I'm stuck in the black screen with white text can I get out?

  • Thanks mate!

  • thanks so much. i was previously stuck until i saw this video. the other walkthroughs just don't have this level of detail.

  • best walkthrough ive seen in a while. Subbed.

  • Thank you, great video. Thank you. Hope to see more updates from you on Mac

  • I don't have the option to enter USB Mode when I check the notifications. Is there another way to enter USB mode?

  • Thnaks for the video it was great but one question when i booted back to web os and then back to android once again i couldnt get wifi anymore

  • your bloody awesome

  • Well done! this was surprisingly easy thanks to your simple, straightforward directions

  • very easy to follow, worked perfectly. thanks!

  • I had trouble with the novacom step on OS 10.7 Lion...it told me that the device could not be found. If you're having this problem you might want to do the following:

    - Enter "sudo -i" (no quotes) into the Terminal. Enter your password when prompted.

    - Enter "cd /"

    - Enter "/opt/nova/bin/novacom boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller"

  • Worked great! Thanks for ur time!

  • Sounds like your reading of a paper at the begining....sounds mono tone.

  • Thank you by the way. This tutorial worked perfectly for me. Almost idiot proof.

  • I would like to try Xron's mod. Is there a safe proven way to uninstall cm7 (mac version)?

  • ive tried again and all i keep getting is for example 233.3748951] msm_timer_set_next_event(12) clock dg_timer, alarm already expired, now 5de4df52, alarm 5de3df52, late -5.. now there is for rows of these and the numbers are different for each row but everything else liek the leters and words are the exact same..... whats going on?

  • after the terminal and the android is download it appears to be stuck here on inting, unless someone knows it took longer on there then i can always re do it but wondering if anyone else had this problem..

  • I did everything exactly as you said to do and now it's telling me that install images cannot be found. Hopefully you didn't make me waste $150. Going through the WebOS doctor to get my TouchPad back to normal.

  • it says failed to connect to server

  • best idiot proof guide i have EVER seen online! brilliant! thanks so much :D

  • I typed the name of the CM Install folder wrongly now I am on the Linux screen where it tries to load the new firmware. It tells me that "cminstall dir not found". Now I can't reset the device. Do I need to wait for the battery to die or is there another way to soft reset the Touchpad?

  • @3lpid3 im having the same problem where you able to figure it out

  • @homeboyben Yep. Held down the home key and the power button for as long as it took until it rebooted. Then I was able to backtrack, reupload a correctly named 'cminstall' folder and then the install worked exactly as mentioned in the video

  • Awesome vid. Everything worked flawlessly and you gave precise details, making this project a breeze. No headaches whatsoever. Seriously, thank you for helping me revive this Touchpad!

  • Wonderful video. It really is nice to see someone take the time to go through step by step for MAC users. There's a lot of information that you present that is not given in other's vids, or step by step instructions. Thanks again so much for taking the time to make this an easy install.

  • Everything works perfectly. Thanks so much! :)
