  • sperm

  • why is he covered in sperm?

  • what's all that stuff on his uni?

  • @HariVIyer those are strips of string/paper/ or whatever to see the aerodynamics of the rider. the wind will pick up the "strings" and whichever way they blow is the travel of the air around the rider.

  • @KevoRidesFit whats the point in that?

  • @Morain42 To know where he has to improve on his position while on the bike to reduce drag.

  • someone should inform him that there are giant sperm all over his jersey.

  • any1 knows wheels name ? on this vid of course

  • the UCI told lance, it won't be allowed to wear tis suite in the tour time trail ;-)

  • 33-36 mph sounds like a pretty good guess at his speed

  • he was breaking the speed of sound

  • 240 km/h :)

  • i love how lance is prob thinking "fuck this" and out runs the car.

  • holy crap that looks hella fast...

  • Hey Lance theres leeches sucking on your skinsuit.

  • That looks completely tiring

  • its the E-lights.

  • He's going somewhere around 35 probably.

  • i always hear that clicking sound coming from pro bikes. what exactly is it?

  • @MrChangCJ Its the car's indicators, well sounds like it.

  • @SourceBoom oh yah, why didnt i think of that?? thanks.

  • surprising you don't see more aero dish to the wheels...

  • @Lemonro1 He was using heavy, bombproof and low-profile training wheels.

  • @Lemonro1 are those the wheels that are like a solid disc? may be because Kona is really windy and it would be hard to control the bike. Just a guess.

  • holy shit. he is moving

  • Great data collection session. Thanks for sharing. BTW bike is a Speed Concept Series. It does not have the integrated seat tube case, but it is probably a prototype of the 9.9. I am betting they where out on the lava fields to collect data and map CFD data from the rider so the bike was stripped down to the essentials.

  • what is the name of the bike he is riding?

  • @ridings18 Speed Concept Series 9.9 or a prototype striped down to collect Computational Fluid Dynamic data from streak lines at laminar, transitional and turbulent flow on the rider.

  • Lance... you have loads of little worms dangling off you pal! Someone get the buggers off hehe! :)

  • cool:X

  • When you bike, what part of your body rests on the saddle?

  • @nikothedog I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW TOO

  • @nikothedog your sit bones are what rests on the saddle.

  • It would be so awesomely funny if some dude on a mountain bike in full cargo shorts just goes riding by Lance, lol.

  • @TheTruthHurtsYup or trying to take a photo of Lance while waving the other hand same time :)

  • @mewoyou the strings are placed on the body to test for airflow to make them as aerodynamic as possible. Just like they do in a wind tunnel.

  • are those strings for decorations, or are they recording or measuring something?

  • Why is he riding such sucky wheels? They aren't even deep rimmed.

  • @nightowl8936

He's ridding to find out the most aerodynamic position (that's why the strings are added). He's not trying to go fast as to used deep profile wheels.

  • i read an article in Bicycle Magazine about this I think. Some tech named Lim? was with him....cant remember

  • freaking weird clothing!

  • @mattsnow81 the little strings are to show where hes most aerodynamic

  • When will we be seeing Lance doing Kona?

  • ride lancypants ride!

  • that looks like a workeout and a load of fun

  • such high cadence

  • what are those things on his jersey and shorts

  • @mtbxcfreak just little tassels of light fabric, basically what they do is show how his air flow is on certain areas of his body..if they are very straight and still then it means he has very good air flow there (aerodynamically) and if they are twirling around and erratic then he isnt getting the best air flow there...

  • Is that the same route as the Ironman bike course?.

  • awesome!, maybe i should buy a tt bike instead of a normal road bike?

    hmm

  • @pimpy200 if u wanna be fast, get a TT bike, if u want to be comfortable and be able to ride with groups of friends and what not, get a road bike, they are way more maneuvarable. but the TT bike's where its at

  • @kauaiboyz51

Thank you for the reply. I prefer to ride alone, so maybe a TT bike is the best for me.

I wait for the new Trek TT bikes and go for a test ride.

  • @pimpy200 aurai. those trek TT bikes r sick, good luick brada

  • @pimpy200

TT bikes are fast and beautiful and awesome, but they are NOT comfortable for longer rides, and SUCK for climbing. Time trial bikes are like interceptor fighter planes - made for fast speed in a straight line.

I have a few suggestions ... get a triathlon geometry bike, but with relaxed angles ... somewhere between a pure road bike with a seat angle of about 74 degrees and a pure triathlon bike with an angle of around 80. I suggest you go for 78 degrees or so.

    OR a TitanFlex bike!

  • LMAO jsut noticed there play Amanda by Boston in the car :P

  • i can just picture a flock a birds flying behind him trying to get those peices of string cuz they think there worms...

  • how much speed in km/h is he aprox ???

  • @themonillo maybe 25-35mph

  • @imgoinbowmont

if i had to guess i would day 27+ because of the excessive bike swing that comes with extremely high speeds on a tt bike. i've noticed for me that when in the aerobars, at around 27+ i start to swing around and get a little unstable so im guessing thats around the say as lance.

  • @themonillo 50-55kph

  • @themonillo 40....

  • @themonillo

should be between 50-60 km/h if hes really pusing his timetrial bike and thats what you do in such types of trainings

  • @themonillo Looks like around 50-60km/h

  • @themonillo No more than 55 km/hr.

  • @themonillo 50-60~km/h

  • @MrBaltuxx no way!

  • Lance, por otro Tour!!!

  • anyone know how fast he is going

  • Such a sexy bike.

  • How does he do it, it hurts just watching him cycle. This guy is a machine!

  • Nice shot. Good soundtrack. Great wheels. Go Lance.

    @spasofamerica

  • I LOVE LANCE

  • what's with the little strings

  • @xOCPx aerodynamics for analyses by like his coaches etc.

  • I personally would have shaved, especially the grey hair;;;;

  • its a chiken shit

    go lance

  • why has he got those strings hanging from his jersey???

  • @DonnieRakes1 to check his aerodynamic position.

  • Hehe! I like his jersey's design >.0 Good Luck LA!

  • I think it has been compressed to appear faster...

  • The song in the background is "Amanda" by Boston.

  • DARLES CAÑA

  • can someone say why alot of timetriallers now how the areobars up ..is it just the time of year being early season..takes less out of the body and less energy spent if your resting more if up higher than having bars straight horizontal or lower. maybe its just that it being early season. would be good to know.

  • @TheCoolestfilms

Lance's bars didn't look very relaxed, this looks pretty close to his race time trial position.

Perhaps you've seen some racers with their bars up higher because they're still working on their position at this point?

    idk, sorry

  • your right about his position not changing much here.but in general I think alot of top testers are changing back to the up right position. it went through a period of flat and minus flat now up.Lance tends not to change his.I wish i had his lung power tho..look at the size of his rig cage..its unreal.

  • @TheCoolestfilms

Yeah, he's definitely a gifted athlete physiologically. I read somewhere that his leg bones+femur developed in a way that enhances his power delivery to the pedals. It shows you that no matter how much we train, genetics can still play a big role.

  • to the person that said he is going 29-30mph..errmm that is totally wrong..sorry fella but this vid shows him to be going at least 35-40..id say 35-36 hovering.,Look at the background.I know what riding 30 is like in time trials and this is way lot faster than that.Looks like a crosswind too.. amazing stuff.

  • Can anyone tell the song playing in the back?

  • @kanonier85 Amanda by Boston.

  • Position on saddle looks uncomfortable and painful.

  • @deus555 that's an interesting observation, but it is typical for a time-trial position. Also, his weight would not fully be pressing on the saddle under that kind of load. Of course the odd pot hole or bump in the road would not feel so good on the nads. It's all subjective but even then, so much endorphins and pain from the legs you may not even notice that..

  • 53 leg rotations for a 31 second video... 106 rpm...wow!

  • GO LANCE, GO!

  • A machine! Go Lance!

  • Love Lance! Go team radio shack!!

  • he is really fast, best biker evar!

  • he may have a little residual pudge from the off season (we all do!), but yeah, by the time the classics and france come around, he'll be good old lance!!!

  • That's not a gut. LOL He has on a cooling vest that he is testing out. TeamRadioShack posted some videos previously about temperature testing and how the vest can keep his core temperature cooler, etc. I think the vest kinda bunches up right there around his waist when he is leaning over. =) That's my opinion anyway.

  • Lance actually looks somewhat human with the slight gut... By France, he'll be shredded and even more aerodynamic.

  • I am pretty sure he doesn't have a gut, or he wouldn't have a pro contract.

  • who needs a car when u can ride this fast.

  • Any idea of a average speed here??

  • @Drosophilamelanogas from the looks of it, and depending on headwind and all, in that position, he's probably hitting 29-30 mph. pros will normally hover around 30 mph on a time trial bike.

  • Amazing... nice style, high speed. Go Lance... yeah! I love to see this.

  • aha! you see! a few people said the first TRS bike was kinda ugly but I stood by my word that other paint schemes will come out and yes this one is very good looking.

  • Lance has worms! LOL

  • that bike is smooth

  • @BlueSkies360 I think this outfit helps verifying if the position of lance on his bike is aerodynamic or not.

  • And the bike is not fat

  • It's all about aerodynamica (I guess), nice bike by the way!

  • He's fast.

  • You think???
