I find it rather appropriate that Mike Love should be wearing a boat captain's outfit in this video, since he would effectively from this period onwards take over the band and captain the sinking ship which would churn out some terrible albums over the 70's and 80's, like the M.I.U Album, and then eventually hit the iceberg and sink with the disastrous and most infamous 'Summer in Paradise' album of the 1990's.

But this is the Authentic "California Girls", Katy Perry's version has the same name but diffrent song in total. Both share a name, but have diffrent songs and dates, so in truth neither stole it. This came out before and is a pretty good song, Katy's came out later and is equally good, so there.
