first...great. really showcases the hv40. im pretty sure Im going to be buying this camera after much research it seems to fit my needs. Is the focus ring necessary, ive heard mixed things about the default focus nob. can you attach another lens like wideangle with the focus ring on? thanks. great stuff on vimeo as well.

@ezgoo You can add wide angle and telephoto's to it and DOF etc... Great cameras the HV40's. I have made alot of documentary style films with it including a film i had prmeiered at the southend film festival (Birdbrook ghost hunt) which is now being distributed!!! The Focus wheel is only £11.99 and helps you to pull focus easily for better looking shots!

gotta say using a ring with a little experimentation with the camera's zoom is a very cost effective alternative to a DOF adapter.

Yes, but it's in the form of a dial, not a ring.

@CaseyTheDrummerBoy Yes but the wheel is only a tiny little dial, the MFW makes it easier to achieve focus as it converts it into a wheel!

ah well thanks man. I appreciate the kind words . Actually, this was edited and uploaded so long ago I forget what my exact settings were. I know that I shot at 24PF for sure and in cinemode. That's all I can really remember. Hope that helps a little

Tell me did you get any camera noise when using the ring? I must have this.

It's not a filter or anything like that. It's just a ring that attaches to the end of the lens . There's a little piece that fits over the wheel that you'd normally use to focus. Once it's on there correctly, you just use the ring and the ring turns the focus wheel for you.

You can, it's just a pain in the ass. All it is is a little wheel

Yes, this is very nice! The IRV ring is a must have for the HV series camera.
