  • Do you still have this app? Could I have the URL for download. Have an OLD iPAQ I want to use as a remote... for VLC or XBMC

  • can it work on htc viva (opal)

  • i have a rx3700 i cut the tvs off at work hh greg best buy and walmart its hilariouse people get urself on

  • OH! I see how it works now. You have your TV connected through VGA with precreated BATCH (or C++) files that will load a video file in full screen. So when the IPAQ sends a command to your computer though WIFI, bluetooth, or link, it will run that batch and start the show.

Or thats how i would do it...

  • yes thats how it works.

  • that is stupid you just wanna show what you have but you're too stupid to explain, it's not even that good. u c what i'm saying make a point of the video and talk or do not share at all.

  • heyman , do you know what you have created !!, you have hit the jackpot , contact me and i will explain

  • yeah it`s a lot of programs i know them before but they didnt work properly .. Now i know why .. but i wil appriciate if you share you apps :D thanks .

  • And its possible to make such a app for WM 6 smartphone ??

  • Yeah... it is.

  • Looks like a useful program.

By VLC, you mean the media player, correct?

I use it all the time. If that's what you mean by VLC, can you upload the program to somewhere like rapidshare or something, and message me a link?

    Thanks.

  • awesome but on the tv is it a windows or tv 'tv'

  • the TV is just a monitor, connected to my Windows Vista computer, where the server program controls VLC.

  • i have a ipaq i think the generation b4 urs....i tried one of these remote things didnt work to well..maybe its my ir port or the application...can u pls tell me what you did...or well better yet what program this is

  • This is my own program. it does not use IR to control the TV.

However, I also used a old iPaq with IR port and a program called Pocket Remote (I think) it worked fine if I was close enough to the TV.

  • if its not ir is it bluetooth and i didnt relize it was ur ur computer u wer doing this with i was like wow he can do that with his pda...i gotta find out how to do this at school lol and how close for the remote program cuz i had to be an inch away lol

  • well.. I created a program on my PC, which controls VLC.

I then created a program for my iPaq, which communicates, wirelessly, to my program on the PC... the program on the iPaq is then able to control VLC through the PC program...

I could have used bluetooth to do this, however, my PC does not have bluetooth, so I just used a normal Wifi connection.

  • ahhhhh i see now

  • By the way... I received my 214 today, and the first thing that greeted me on the blue background of the bootup was the bright magenta dot of a defective pixel (@#*§@!!), I then discovered another one elsewhere, which sums up to 2 of them. Did you notice any defective pixels on yours too?

  • When resetting the device, I discovered two dead pixels... one 2mm from the top edge.. and one about 1cm from the top edge. However, I it don't see them my device has booted up.

  • At least I'm not the only one, probably the VGA res makes its victims with the 4times larger pixel number. Maybe I'll get a return from HP, maybe not.

  • ipaq's dead now, I installed latest wisbar, some error about an unaccessible dll appeared, I pressed the reset, and after that the pocketpc won't go past the blue boot screen, just stays there giving no signs of life. I am definitely getting a return :D BTW, don't you think WM6 is horrible at managing apps? Takes 3 times more to boot than ipaq 2400, asks you permission on every app you start, and won't install cabs unless they are signed/you use a third party cab installer. Sheesh.

  • I've noticed the "permission thingy" alot. The only problem i've had was joining a wireless network using PEAP authentication with no server certificat.. I couldn't do that without hacking the registry database.

  • hehe! thanks!

grinks123: according to the brighthand review.. the iPaq 214 does have USB host.. however, I have no experience using it.

  • But you'll need a special cable or adapter to use the host (as I understood, you can't use the mini-USB for this purpose). And such an accessory doesn't yet exist! So the host is useless as of now :(

  • that is true. and even if you did have a cable. you would need drivers for every hardware you connected.

  • Realm of coolness. I mean, ipaq 214 (which I'm waiting for over here in italy), bleach, and the whole tech gear in your room. You're my new virtual friend :P

  • Please, have iPAQ 214 USB host? Can you connect normal PC keyboard or USB flash memory with this PDA? Thank you for answer.
