the taped hole really does give it a different sound. I'm not sure how to describe it, but i've done it and it changes it up. But i'm pretty sure it's because he's plugged into the PA. I wouldn't be throwing heavy duty tape like that onto a gibson for no reason

I'm assuming something to do with acoustics, maybe the sound produced is a bit different to a trained ear. i dunno :p

I believe it helps with feedback prevention through the PA system... but in reality, it is not necessary with today's technology. I think its an image thing... a differentiator if you will... from other artists

@cyReesyPeace For a different tone when he plays with an amp, i think. But i may be wrong. Ive never taped my guitar's hole.

@cyReesyPeace Because the guitar is plugged into the amp for a louder and cleaner sound and if the hole wasn't taped sound with be coming form both the amp and the guitar itself. it wouldn't sound good. It's nothing to do with image or anything
