You are very brave to come out as a military man, but you're also lucky that things are a lot easier now than when I was your age growing up in Texas. "Queers and n*****s" were routinely beaten up when I was a kid. Leaving home at 17 to start my career gave me the freedom to gradually find out who I was and not continue to lie to myself and the people who love me. Like you, being gay is only a small part of my life and who I am. Thanks for helping others like us!

Where are you stationed? (retorical question. You don't have to answer) I work on Fort Hood and know there's a lot of gay soldiers there. At the very least, there's plenty of pro-gay straight guys who'd make terrific friends. I know because I snagged me a couple of great friends who served in the army. The best friends I ever had and it never bothered them I was gay. In fact, they got mad that I wasn't attracted to them LOL!

Retired US Navy with over 24 years of proud military service ( prior to joining the Navy I was in the Air Force for four years). During my time in the Navy I also served just under six years as a Navy Corpsman with Marine units. Even though I could not be open about my sexuality I was surprised to find out that most of those that I served with knew about me and did not care as long a I did my job. Now glad that Gay's in the future can now serve openly and not live a lie like I did.
I think I'd be more of a fan of Justin TImberlake or Zac Efron. Anyway, I liked what you said about your identity. Gay/bi friends are extremely hard to come by. This coming out thing, I suppose does get easier, but it's a long long process,Still Haven't told my Da, I have no plans to,Lets just say he is a law unto himself and I have created allies and affiliations by being choosing the right people to come out too, all the while knowing they would spread the word. You are very brave to come out as a military man, but you're also lucky that things are a lot easier now than when I was your age growing up in Texas. "Queers and n*****s" were routinely beaten up when I was a kid. Leaving home at 17 to start my career gave me the freedom to gradually find out who I was and not continue to lie to myself and the people who love me. Like you, being gay is only a small part of my life and who I am. Thanks for helping others like us!

Where are you stationed? (retorical question. You don't have to answer) I work on Fort Hood and know there's a lot of gay soldiers there. At the very least, there's plenty of pro-gay straight guys who'd make terrific friends. I know because I snagged me a couple of great friends who served in the army. The best friends I ever had and it never bothered them I was gay. In fact, they got mad that I wasn't attracted to them LOL!

I know what it is like to come out to your family I did and I am from a baptist back ground and I know I am saved By Jesus Christ and that is all that matters! I am gay and I dont hide it I can not help who I am attracted to! Love to those who are open and not that deal with close mindedness it hits hard but stand up for your self and speak out for the people who cant! people do not understand because they dont fill attracted to the same sex but over my life it has gotten better from 17 to 32

Retired US Navy with over 24 years of proud military service ( prior to joining the Navy I was in the Air Force for four years). During my time in the Navy I also served just under six years as a Navy Corpsman with Marine units. Even though I could not be open about my sexuality I was surprised to find out that most of those that I served with knew about me and did not care as long a I did my job. Now glad that Gay's in the future can now serve openly and not live a lie like I did.

coming from one military man to another. i personally am a e-3 in the army, im straight. and i had a big problem with gay people before basic. i was ignorant and stupid, but my best friend jon, from basic was gay. and this was of course during dont ask done tell exc. hes was the nicest person that i ever met. and made me take a good look into myself, and i realized that it was stupid to treat people different for their sexual preference, and i would like to say, good job man. more power to you!
