This is just awesome! Especially that bit with the mother. I remember that album cover at the record stores (back when there were such things.) I bought the 45.
@IrisMG Thanks, Iris. That was my mother, Beatrice. She cracks my up, as she keeps saying the "Redbones". My mom loved all family, and all our family loved her.
great vid, which year was this? 1978 something? too bad they lost their original line up and with that the magic of the first 5 albums, redbone, potlatch, witch queen, already here, wovoka
Your mother certainly had excellent taste in music:) My best wishes for you and your family as well as to Lolly Vegas and his family. I assure you he shall be very much missed by so many.
This is truly a wonderful video. Thank you so very kindly for sharing.
One of my favorite groups of the 70's. I would request this song, all the time,on the radio. Lolly will be, indeed missed. My condolences goes out to the Vegas family. Thanks, Lolly, for enriching ,my love of music (Especially Rock and Roll) I've always wanted to see the group , live and in concert, but they , from my understanding, never toured south Texas. I heard they had played in Corpus Christi but never around San Antonio. Thank you Lolly and Pat Vegas!!
They weren't "pure Native Americans" that's why they called themselves "Redbone", which is slang for someone who is part Native American and anything else. But one thing is for sure, they were one of the best live bands on the planet.
Pete Depoe grew up on the makah Nations reserve as that is where his parents lived. He moved to hisown home rez later. He played drums for local combos here in Neah Bay... very nice man he was native , from ore.
Cousin Linda, the is Alfonso. Your mom was cousin with Refugio Morales. Cuco was married to my Grandmother Elisa. So dad was cousin to Cuco and obviously son-in-law to Elisa. Cuco was uncle to Pat and Lolly. Pat and Lolly mother was either Petra or Eloisa. Do you remember Tia Belen?
who is the wonem who comes into this video just for a second or two.????? Anyone know/

If you are viewing this video, please view the video response, by my Youtube friend GIl, or All1Song.
At my request, Gil was nice enough to do a great tribute to Lolly Vegas.
He is also very humble, and thinks it was an honor to do so.
Please honor Gil, by viewing, and rating his video with 5 *****!
Thanks again, Gil.

Thanks for the info, crystalbeau. So, Redbone really does have a connection to the Native American.
