As the Japanese have no 'L' sylible sound in their language, they are not used to using the sound, that's why it will come out as 'Scoturand' instead of 'Scotland'

@GLORD99092 I think you got that backwards, they have no "R" so they replace it with "L". That's why in oriental restaurants when they ask you if you want fried rice it sounds like they are asking if you want flied lice. xD

@4everSpunkRansom1 I think you got it wrong here. I am learning Japanese and they actually lack the letter "l" from their alphabet. BUT sometimes you can hear a mix of the "r" and "l" sound into something that we don't have in western accents. It's sth between an "r" and "l" where the tongue is somewhere in the middle of those two letters. It's kinda funny but sometimes english words with "l" sound like an "r" and sometimes they pronounce some of their own words with "r" as an "l".
