Yoshi can catch himself from falling instead of crashing, or eat a koopa shell with a certain color and gain a specific ability then power down to change to another ability.

I have the strangest feeling that later on in the series, Yoshi and Mecha Sonic are gonna have another match, and Yoshi will know how to use the Chaos Emerald to make it that much more intense. I mean, hell, in this fight he caught Mecha Sonic off guard to lay on some brief hurt.
