She is not a jerk, don't blame her for the students! She was a wonderful woman and if it was not for her I would be failing school at some public school and would most likley end up becoming a hooker! I've never been so inspired in my life to do good at anything!
I knew she founded(and directed) the Lab School. She will always be a jerk, even in death!!! She was no better than the D.C. public school system!! She allowed teasing to go on mercilessly! Asinine jerks like her, are the ultimate reason why, school shootings like Columbine(Colorado), Paducah(Kentucky), Iron Range(Minnesota) happen. Because the school staff turns a blind eye to, ferocity of, and emotional/psychological fallout from, teasing.

She is portrayed as a saint. People need to know, she wasn't as saintly as, people were led to believe.
@Chris05161967 I am very sorry you did not have a positive experience with the Lab School of Washington. If you did not attend LSW, I am sorry that you did not have the honor of knowing her. I did, I attended LSW from 1995 until graduation in 2008.
@brianandrewwong1989 I attended LSW the Fall Semester of the '81-'82 school year. She kicked me out for fighting, between semesters. I was responding to the merciless teasing. But she didn't care even though I told her about the teasing.
Sally Smith was NOT a jerk! she was the greatest human being on earth. She was the one who founded the Lab School. She was the one who directed the Lab School! If you think she's a jerk then you're a bastard! think before you say something so rude and obnoxious. Sally Smith was my second mother and the one whom I looked up to and admired. She has saved many lives from feeling stupid all the time. We all feel good about ourselves! Never say anything bad about her again!

Sally, I thank you for giving me the chance to attend the six week summer program back in August. 1993. It was a great honor to have met you. I can't believe that you are gone. But, you are NOT forgotten! Diana Meltzer, I also want to thank you for your support. I only wished that I could have received the funding from Fairfax County Public Schools to attend your school full-time. Sally, you are a hero!

This woman was a jerk!!!!! I went to the Lab School during the Fall Semester of the '81-'82 school year!!!
I was teased mercilessly by kids at the school. I kicked one kid in the teeth for teasing me. I tackled another kid for teasing me.
Twice, I ran away from the school and, all she did was ask if I was alright!!!!!!
She didn't care about students being teased!!
I got kicked out, at the end of the '81 Fall Semester for fighting!!! The emotional brutality of kids meant nothing to her!!!
