Hey mate, could you please tell me the exact text i've to fill in in the 'hosts'-file?

did just download Adobe After Effects CS5 and dealing with the hosts-problem now

but i fucked up quite hard, after i did the ipconfig/flushdns thingy my browser started showing several errors

every time I try (do exactly what you do) to edit the host files by copying the hosts to desctop and then change what I want when saving it creates a new wordpad file instead of changing the origina...(same thing happens with notepad..

@MIke1SB I don't know what is happening. The only thing I can suggest is to run word pad with Admin permissions. (Right click> Run as Admin)

Then go to File>Open, and open the hosts file for editing, and saving.

Finally upgraded from Win XP and the denying of everything is driving me nuts. I should be able to move my files from external drives onto laptop onto Desktop without being forbidden or told to ask Admin when I'm the only user. Bet Mac users don't have to go through this!

@MelisendePF lol Yea Windows is weird about that. Mac doesn't usually ask for permissions unless its something that needs it.

If you press the start menu on your keyboard and type "uac" (I think that's correct) you can change when Windows asks for permissions for things.

@kyl3d Well if you are having problems with your Adobe Serial, I suggest that you search google for the "Adobe Removal Tool" to remove all traces of Adobe from your computer. Then try reinstalling the program with your serial.

@TheWin7tuts here is how i did it: right click on notepad (in start menu or whatever) and click run as administrator, then click yes. and once in notepad, click file>open and go the etc folder and choose "hosts" (but make sure you chose all files rather than text files below the browsing menu). once you're done, save it and it will work.
