@Shacklebound well as Muslims we should respect their decisions be it we agree with it or not... we shouldn't hope the worst for them but the best... lets remain calm n patience should be with us 24/7... i'm not angry at ur comment but i'm hoping you wouldn't use such tone regarding such a sensitive issue... :)
I do not feel that a uniform worldwide religion would be beneficial and I guess that would be one step towards communism or fascism (depending on where we would go next) but people do need to stop taking these religions so seriously. For example, don't Muslim women get awful hot wandering around dressed up like Darth Vader in the blistering heat? Peace out! x)
I don't fear, suspect or hate Muslims. I do believe that everyone should be able to have their own beliefs, but I also feel that everyone should keep it within their own groups. I'm not saying live in secret, but the problem is, there seems to be some kind of in-built problem with humanity when it comes to one group accepting another. Very rare is it that you have a Utopian group of Christians, Sihks, Muslims, Jews and Hindus.
we need more videos like this one!! because Islam is a beautiful religion and all the people should know that !! and i'm a musilm this is my faith and this is my voice!!
I'm not a Muslim but I believe and fight for everyone, no matter faith they are, or if they are religious at all. WE ARE ALL HUMAN BEINGS AND THAT IS WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT!
I completely support the building of the mosque/community center...I'm just worried about the violence that's probably gonna happen if it gets built =/
@geesquared1 an adult woman not wearing the Hijab? Nevermind that, try an underage child not wearing the Hijab. The ratio is a stunning one to seven, which certainly does not reflect the reality of the Muslim community out there.
Great to see this video. It's about time more American Muslims who reject the Muslim supremacist vision of political Islam spoke out. I only hope those behind this video recognize that your real "enemies" are not the Americans who ask questions about who or what is behind various Muslim projects & organizations. Our common enemies are the Islamists who work toward harming America, everyday. You can't make them stop by pretending they aren't here. They are. It's up to ALL of us to stop them.
@Laaaaars96 I personally know at least 25 people who converted to Islam. Not including the well known ones. Why? Becasue they read the Qur'an and then started speaking with muslims and reseaching on thier own and found it to be the truth.
@Laaaaars96 yes, one person who actually comes to our mosque was former catholic who converted to islam once finding out about it. He actually had to run away from them and they've threatened to attack him if he doesn't revert. Our community supported him and he's safe and has places to stay now. This is not catholicism's fault (the violence) but the actions of a few individuals. I also know of other. My friend's sister is married to a white convert to islam.
@Laaaaars96 Yes .. our maid just convert to Islam a week ago .. she was Christian..I always liked her and I like her more .. :) .. and why because when she came to work for us , she had those weird thoughts about Muslim people and how rude and other weird stuff .. but when we told her that isn't Isalm and Isalm is about loving , sharing , kindness and giving . after two months she came to my mother saying that she want to convert to islam .. :)
@Laaaaars96 I converted to Islam. I did it because I was looking for truth. I saw on the news every week about the 'evil Muslims'. How they are all terrorists and their way of life is barbaric. I found the truth, and I did it while studying the Qur'an and sunnah. In actuality, Islam is a wonderful religion that promotes peace, respect, love, humility, and kindess. The people who say that Islam somehow promotes the "killing of all infidels" are simply ignorant, and probably never studied Islam.
@Laaaaars96 hmm... I replied to this comment earlier but just realized it didn't work... anyways there is actually a person who comes to my mosque who used to be a catholic. He found out about islam and converted. He had to run away from home because his family threatened him. He came and we supported him until he was independant. He still can't see his family or they will attack him. This is not the fault of catholicism but the fault of a few individuals. I know of a other people too
@Laaaaars96 i converted to Islam, i converted because i studied it, i started in high school and then went at it on my own, after a while i came to the only logical conclusion, that Islam was the true faith. i stoped eating pork and tried to learn how to do salat on my own, then 1day i found out there is a masjid close to my home so i went there one Friday and after the khutba i did shahada, that was about 5 years ago, now i have Muslim wife and daughter :P and learning to be mufti, inshaallah
@rage20 there are more than 1.5 billion muslims in the world. Islam is the fastest growing religion. there are more practising muslim's than any other faith (noticed i said 'practising'). Muslims aren't a minority, they dont want to impose their religion on anyone. that won't change.
@rage20 Allah preserves whom He will, and Allah smites whom He will. If in some evil day in the future Sharia were imposed on sections of America, I truly wonder how many of these people in the video would stand up for liberty.
You're right, a majority would have more ability to impose itself on others, however, it would make sense that a minority would feel more inclined to impose itself on others so that it can become a majority.
I'm really glad this was made. Just because there are Muslim terrorists doesn't mean all Muslims are terrorists. People who think like that piss me off :/
Beautiful PSA. Shame it had to be made to attempt to make a point. However, only one young girl is not wearing a hijab. That is not a claim to fame for Islam. If you hold it in your heart, you don't need to wear it on your sleeve.
no doubt these people in the video are all good, sincere folks who believe what they say. But where are the mullahs, the clergy? Sadly, precious few, and THEY are the ones who sway islam. Islam is not only a religious but a political system as well. It could never abide democracy over Muhammad's (pbuh) teachings. So again, while these western folks mean well, they do NOT speak for Islam at large.
Part of me chuckled a bit. We're Muslims and we love America and we hate terrorism. Oh yeah, we've said this before haven't we? Better make sure you get the message.
Look ALL of us are Muslims. And here're some Muslim women. Smiling too! And here's a woman speaking Spanish for those who can't speak English. Heck, perhaps you are deaf, so here's the message again in sign language. Hey look, our children are saying the message too.
I love this, it's really awesome, haha I don't know what these commenters' deal is :P I definitely agree with @parisasays "Sad this needed to be made at all". But I'm glad that they're being so bold with their faith. More people need to be like this with their beliefs (atheists, christians, muslims, anyone) WITHOUT persecuting and telling everyone else that they're wrong. It's not that hard to have an open mind.. But it does take boldness to outwardly live what you believe, whatever that may be
This pisses me off... there's no group on the face of the earth that hasn't had some members do evil. But blaming everyone for that... It's so pessimistic and wrong. That's like blaming Japanese citizens now for Pearl Harbor or a German citizen for the Holocaust. Sure those things happened long ago, but the average person wasn't the one that did those things.
Furthermore, those terrorists that executed 9/11 and other tragedies, aren't real Muslim let alone sane humans.
you know media cracks me up....I don't know who produced this..but the message is positive...yet the music at the end is meant to give you a sense of dread....interesting
:D I wish we had such a commercial in Holland. I am dutch(non-religious), I am from the country Geert WIlders is from, GW is now making his debute in America, trying to fight the muslim culture there as well like he is doing here. I feel ashamed that such a man is from the free tolerant Netherlands and even more ashamed that he gets so much support. Muslims let yourselves be heard! Show what good, honest and peaceful people you can be to prove these hypocrits wrong!:)
:D I wish we had such a commercial in Holland. The problem with this ad is that the people who really need to see it either won't, or will come up with excuses for why they have no intention of stopping with the vicious xenophobia. They're not going to admit they're in the wrong on this.
A friend of mine is an Algerian who lost family to religious extremists, and hearing people say she must sympathize with the people who killed her freaking relatives just because she's Muslim makes my blood boil.
>:/ They basically claim they are secular humanists not Muslims.
And if they don't want to convert anyone, than why so many comercials and news about Islam. How could they POSSIBLY get even more attention to their religion.
An average Muslim isn't dangerous, but they are as willing to convert others as a JW, Mormon, Scientologist, Catholic, Jew, ...
It's not more sad that this had to be made, than that I am told to read the Qur'an on daily basis now!
How could you dislike this video? Even as a white american, this video is well made. I really thought it gave a good message thats should be knocked into some people.
This country was made on the hope that no one would ever have to make this kind of statement. I support these people and their message of peace, but it is sad that it has come to this.
i like muslims more then christians. why? because at least they dont go door to door annoying me every few months on joining a good damn religion saying u r a sinner! repent. im like stfu
I personally am not muslim, but I support them in their beliefs. It's unfortunate the circumstances that brought on this commercial. That being said, those who are not for the building of the mosque (which the creator of this commercial said was the reason for the creation of this) are not against the building of the mosque in general, only the location of the erection of said building. I am one of them simply requesting them to move the location.
Here's a clue, most of us non-Muslims don't presume to guess a person's religious beliefs when meeting or even working with them. We know better. So don't presume on us.
Second, geequared1 is right. You should have shown at least half of the women without a hijab. I've known Muslim women via work or school for 30 years and they never wore one. This sets off my second alarm: did you script the PSA this way because there has been a change in the American-Muslim community about the hijab, or because your perception of the intended audience is one of ignorant bigots who can only identify a Muslim woman by a her hijab?
OK. This PSA insults my intelligence. First, the line "other people are telling you what to think about Muslims." You don't know that, and as a person, I can make up my own mind based on a input from many sources. So don't pretend to think you know what I am thinking.
Excellent. Now can we have a fresh shipment of Muslims from somewhere else besides Pakistan and India? I couldn't care less about the religion, it's the cultural rudeness and lack of safe driving skills that affect my life. They cut lines at the store, give rude looks if you say something about it, wander all over the road and ignore traffic laws. Suggest some populations with better social and driving skills please.
@rockyPants4000 This is a ridiculous comment. So because you had a few negative experiences, you judge an entire religious group. Idiotic. I have been to a muslim country and am proud to say that everybody is very sweet, very welcoming, very accepting, and very Godly. I can't say the same for you.
@rockyPants4000 i have to disagree brother....just because a few ppl do sumthing wrong doesnt mean u can start judging the whole religion for their acts.....muslims aren't robots....we're not programmed to do everything perfectly....we're just ordinary human beings and we also make mistakes....u cant blame it on the religion just cuz the followers are doing sumthin wrong!!
@Tamboification stupid there is like so many white muslims in the world. a faith or believe isn't limited to just a single race or ethnicity. Turkey is like 99% muslim and their white. Russia is white and they have a huge muslim population. There other white muslim countries too so don't think that muslims are just dark skinned. Thats a stereotype and just because stereotypes are funny and are true in some cases that its true all the time. titty sprinkles
It is good that the Muslim community is coming out and stating the diffences from the extermist. But I understand both sides, one we should be careful on who we target during this war but with that we're at war with a faction that states it does its actions in the name Islam
Just so you guys know, Islam is the second largest practiced religion in the world (Immediately followed by Christianity as a whole). I do not know how many Muslims there are out there, but I know there are a lot more than 300 million (Approx. Number of citizens in the US). That many people aren't going to all be carried by the idea of killing everyone.
its their attitude, we in the west don't particularly like muslims not because of terrorist attacks in the world but because they live in our society and don't intigrate properly or are agressive. We have some streets that are filled with muslims where police don't dare to patrol, these are the "normal" muslims not the terrorists.
@SueUTube well the difference is their gov't is largely connected with their religion of islam, but the u.s. is based on the separation of church and state, therefore, not allowing the building of a church because of the religion it belongs to would be unconstitutional.
@SueUTube Mecca is a holy city, is there a mosque in the Vatican? NO!!! ground zero is not just sacred to Christians but to all Americans were affected by 9/11 just like any other Americans
@SueUTube heres the thing islam said that that is harram or forbidden so iam sorry but if it was by my hand i would build christian churches in arab world but what can one do?
Strange how I missed the memo saying that New York was now a holy city dedicated to pilgrimages from Christian devotees. Oddly enough, my impression was that certain particularly right-wing Americans had simply arbitrarily decided that they don't like mosques (or, in this case, Islamic Community Centres). Naturally there are Churches in Saudi Arabia, but Mecca has been devoted to Islamic pilgrimages for over a thousand years. How many mosques are there in the Vatican city?
@SueUTube thats like saying if u would build a mosque in the christian cathedral...its nothing personal, like many religions, there are sacred places not to be touched and usa is not a sacred religious place, matter of fact the constitution allows it.
@SueUTube Since when did the rights of American citizens have to do with how another part of the world governs itself? So many people cite Mecca as if Muslims in America came from Mecca. Many Muslims in America are American, born and raised. How the Saudi government runs its country is irrelevant to my or anyone's rights as an American. There is no connection, so stop trying to make one.
@SueUTube as long as you support a mosque in the vatican city. I think american muslims would support the idea of other religions being able to built houses of worship in saudi arabia since currently they are not but holy sited like mecca is a different story. I think they should and so should the vatican allow a mosque in there city, but i dont think christians would be any more open minded about that than muslims would be
Why? Christians don't live in Mecca. If they did then hell ya I'll support a church build ther, but what's the point if 100% of the population are Muslims.
2. Mecca is mentioned in the Quran as a holy city reserved for worship of 1 god only, its called the haram (the frobidden place to do many things), not just the Kaba, but the city itself
Meca is special, as an example, NewYork has porn shops in it, it cant be compared to Meca where all women r covered
@SueUTube if there is a substantial Christian community in Mecca, and if they wanted a church in the city, then, it is stated in our religion that we have to provide a place of worship to them, its their (the Christian's) right to practice their religion peacefully, and its our (Muslim authority) duty to provide the facility...
@SueUTube Is ground zero a holy land? And just to answer your question, yes. The Bible is a book of God, so is the Torah. So by all means, build your church in Mecca. But would YOU even come and pray in it? Or will come up with another argument and excuse?
As in the black community, and I'm a black man saying this, when you don't respond appropriately to the bad people in your community or the bad that claim to represent your community then your community is branded with the views and/or actions of the bad.
@americanb4black Right on that's exactly what I was thinking. This video is about 9 years late... Besides it doesn't much matter what the regular people think or say. We all know it's the ones in DC and the wealthy behind the curtain who are shaping the influence of Muslims on America. Like the Imam who is doing the state dept work behind the scenes and building a mosque where landing gear fell on 9-11... 99% of Americans don't want war but... we got it... maybe a PSA is in order for that.
I live in the us. i have muslim friends, it doesnt matter to me. i see them equal to me. what i noticed is that the women who wear hijabs, men who wear arab clothing with big beards, they are looked differently upon, because its a cultural thing. ex. you see a guy dressed like a hippy, and you automatically think hes a hippy/ pot smoker. people see terrorists on tv who are dressed like arabs, and then when they see a normal person dressed like an arab they automatically think of terrorist.
Mashallah! Awesome video.

How patronizing.
Maybe if they spent as much time condemning terrorism as they did condemning Americans, they wouldn't have to make this ad.
Does anyone else see the irony of Muslims lecturing the "Islamophobic" Americans about judging by ethnicity?
If Muslims want sensitivity, maybe they should start by showing some.

Sad that this had to be made. I wish the video had muslim women without hijab, not all muslim women wear hijab, why wasn't that shown??
mediterraneo0327 1 year ago
Here's a clue, most of us non-Muslims don't presume to guess a person's religious beliefs when meeting or even working with them. We know better. So don't presume on us.
zivjax 1 year ago
Second, geequared1 is right. You should have shown at least half of the women without a hijab. I've known Muslim women via work or school for 30 years and they never wore one. This sets off my second alarm: did you script the PSA this way because there has been a change in the American-Muslim community about the hijab, or because your perception of the intended audience is one of ignorant bigots who can only identify a Muslim woman by a her hijab?
zivjax 1 year ago

Will those who are Muslim living in the US, please say if you support a Christian church in Mecca?
SueUTube 1 year ago
@SueUTube well the difference is their gov't is largely connected with their religion of islam, but the u.s. is based on the separation of church and state, therefore, not allowing the building of a church because of the religion it belongs to would be unconstitutional.

@Alxe73191 That doesn't answer the question.

@SueUTube
Fatpie42 1 year ago
@SueUTube thats like saying if u would build a mosque in the christian cathedral...its nothing personal, like many religions, there are sacred places not to be touched and usa is not a sacred religious place, matter of fact the constitution allows it.
revreturns 1 year ago
@SueUTube Since when did the rights of American citizens have to do with how another part of the world governs itself? So many people cite Mecca as if Muslims in America came from Mecca. Many Muslims in America are American, born and raised. How the Saudi government runs its country is irrelevant to my or anyone's rights as an American. There is no connection, so stop trying to make one.
MusiqLuv 1 year ago
@SueUTube as long as you support a mosque in the vatican city. I think american muslims would support the idea of other religions being able to built houses of worship in saudi arabia since currently they are not but holy sited like mecca is a different story. I think they should and so should the vatican allow a mosque in there city, but i dont think christians would be any more open minded about that than muslims would be

-Muslims dont dupport churches in Meca, because:
1.Thers no nonmuslims in Meca for a millenia
2. Mecca is mentioned in the Quran as a holy city reserved for worship of 1 god only, its called the haram (the frobidden place to do many things), not just the Kaba, but the city itself
Meca is special, as an example, NewYork has porn shops in it, it cant be compared to Meca where all women r covered
penkallli 1 year ago
@SueUTube Not bashing you or anything, but that's like asking Chatolic's to support a Muslim mosque in Vatican City.
murderkid200 1 year ago 8
@SueUTube if there is a substantial Christian community in Mecca, and if they wanted a church in the city, then, it is stated in our religion that we have to provide a place of worship to them, its their (the Christian's) right to practice their religion peacefully, and its our (Muslim authority) duty to provide the facility...
reef363 1 year ago 7
@reef363 If only the Christian community would actually practice it peacefully
theundone1 1 year ago
@SueUTube Is ground zero a holy land? And just to answer your question, yes. The Bible is a book of God, so is the Torah. So by all means, build your church in Mecca. But would YOU even come and pray in it? Or will come up with another argument and excuse?
Feircejaguar 1 year ago
As in the black community, and I'm a black man saying this, when you don't respond appropriately to the bad people in your community or the bad that claim to represent your community then your community is branded with the views and/or actions of the bad.

Free Muslims Coalition
Islam Against Extremism
Indian Union Muslim League
British Muslims For Secular Democracy
And "The Fiqh Council of North America" have actually announced a fatwa against Islamist extremism
Therse are all anti-extremism Islamic groups (and there are probably more) and now there's this video. What more did you want exactly?
You might as well be asking for Jews to apologise for those Jews who killed Jesus. Makes about as much sense (as in none at all).
Fatpie42 1 year ago
