@UtubeHyperboleGuy Yes I imagine so. This video I made is a little old now and many things have changed. I see that many codecs have been dropped from the ffdshow packs, including h.264.
I think they have done this for legal reasons. I'm not sure.
I record full screen so that people can view everything that is happening. I'm not a fan of the screen moving with the mouse, its very distracting. Is this what you meant?
I've been recording or trying to record a walkthrough for a game. I'm using camstdio for this as I can get the best quality. But recording the music of the game and me speaking at the same time via my head set don't mix, it just won't pick up the sound, if i speak without the sound, its great but its so delayed. Wondering if codec helps this?
@sg12nk34 Yes it does vary in size depending on the amount of activity been captured. For mouse movements and the occasional screen change, youll get 2 meg per minute. This tutorial achived those results.
Hello Benny! I've made my first tutorial following your instructions but I didn't like it. Motive: I've gotten a flu and was coughing all the time. :) But the video is perfect! I use Win 7 and it has a magnifier tool that is very useful for making tutorials with CamStudio. I don't know what is your OS, but if it has a magnifier tool you should try it out. It's fantastic! Have a nice time!
@luizmpcf Thats great !!! Yes the magnifier tool is good too.
There is two other free program called Virtualdub, and Audacity.
What they allow you to do is export the sound file out of the video, edit out the coughs with silence, add backing music etc. Then reimport the sound file.
The HUGH advantage is you can edit the video with having to re-encode, meaning you dont have an additional quality loss.
Hello Benny! As I am new to CamStudio, this tutorial was of great value. I want to say to the other people that if they have K-Lite Codec Pack installed, they already have the ffdshow video codec. If don't, so search Google for it and install it. Thanks for the great tutorial!
The H.264 is the standard of the day, dont use the H.263. I have posted links in this video description of where to get it from. Just follow this tutorials direction.

@bajatmerc This is a known issue with the latest version of Camstudio. Use the older version. Trust me the newer version isnt any better.

Would this work with just ffdshow and not ffdshow tryouts? I have ffdshow installed already.

I still say that h.264 gives the best results.

For gaming captures, expect lots more size.

Great vid. I now use the K-Lite Codec, which I also love to use on MPC. :]
Should've used it but didn't know I could. xD

@luizmpcf Yes you are correct, the K-Lite Codec Pack is a beauty.
I wasnt aware of it during the time of making this video.
Thanks for the additional input. It may be time to make an updated video.
