@TheGroundedAviator no telling what he would have done. i read in reports that he shredded up court-martial reports of soldiers who murdered surrendered german soldiers involving the capture of dachau. no telling how he would have treated the soldiers in this documentary.
@panhead55 I heard of that murder, heck I'd go with it saying "I accept people often go too the level of their enemy but it's no excuse" and see justice of both sides done. He was a psycho himself who didn't care for medcine when much of this was a phyisical thing cause by over stimulation of the brain. He'd have most likely have em shot.
Agreed. The mind of every individual is unique, and situations, especially in the high-stress zone of a battle, can really wear one down over time. A study conducted after the Vietnam war found that after around 200 days of continuous combat, every soldier has some battle fatigue episode, ranging from just throwing your rifle down and refusing to fight, or running wildly away into the treeline.
I recall watching this interesting short on TCM some time ago!

I dread to think what Old Blood and Guts Patton would have done.

It's funny how our minds can play dirty tricks on us for no reason at all. How a simple reaction to certain things can put us in a state of disuse.

I just saw this on the documentary channel.
This film was banned for several years because it showed what could happen if your not killed in the military/combat zone.
5/5 stars.
