i havent read this book yet but i wanna read it soooooo bad :) they have one copy left in the library but the librarys closed cuz of christmas weekend :( i bet ill read it in like 1 day :P
before i read this, i always thought i was fat. of course i never starved or cut or shoved my finger down my throat. But i did kinda consider it. This book changed that. Thanks Laurie Halse Anderson. If it werent for this book i could be lea.
I hope they do a film adapttion of the book like they did with Speak. I would really be looking forward to it since the last one was done so beautifully.
im just about to start reading this book. i stopped eating properly about 4 months ago and my friend and i are going through a really rough patch... when i read the blurb today in the book store i had to get it so i could read what it would be like if she really did take her life like she has been meaning too. So far.. it feels like im reading the story of my life. litterally!
@ABooKwOrMgirL16 it was about two best friends. One was anorexic, and one was belimic. But the belimic one died, and the anorexic is trying to starve herself to become skinnier but in the end she realizes its wrong. it's a really good book. :)
I just finished this book. reading through tears was SERIOUSLY hard. Saddest book ever, and it completely changed my view on anorexia and bulimia... )':
i just clicked on this link because i swear to be the skinnest girl at my schoo, skinner than you, i would like to say bull crude to that bc im 14, and 2 inches away from 6 feet tall, and weigh 95, bhahahahahaa i find this sorta of a failure :)
This book honestly changed me. I didn't save me, I was never a Wintergirl until I read it. I couldn't put it down. And I still can't. The copy I have has so many pages dog-eared so I can find my favorite quotes over and over. I almost have it entirely memorized. It's impacted me so much because it gets me. The pursuit of skinny, the sweet release of cutting. I don't do it anymore, and this is a good read when you feel your worst and nothing else works.
I'm reading this book right now, and i'm loving it. I love when Lia is saying she's in a ocked glass box, and i love alot of the similies Lauren Halse Anderson uses. It's amazing, but a little bit hard to comprehend at the beggining.
*Like this video if you think more people shold wright books about these kinda topics. Eating disorders, suicide, cutting- heavy topics that have meaning and are amazing to read. Books that acually help people relize things.
@gossipgi In one of the chapters, Lea explains in a flashback about how she and Cassie were 'wintergirls'; frozen in time to be skinny forever. Or at least, they promise to be.
ok so i am creating book trailers in class and reviewing them, and this trailer didnt have enough information about the book and what its about, i wish they had added some music to set the tone so mabey i could understand it better,, i also think they should have added some pictures or clips to it to put a bettter picture in my head of what this book is about.
hey everyone! if you love this book, check out my channel! my friend and i made a trailer for wintergirls and entered a contest. we did not win unfortunately, but it was fun! check us out! :)
This book isn't just her thoughts, it has a good story to it, i thought! Especially when she sees Cassie's ghost, or just imagines it, and the boy she meets, I LOVE how they didn't fall in love or anything dumb like that, it would have ruined the book. It was surprisingly funny too, to me at least : ) But, I'd read it slow not all in one sitting cuz I did that, and whew my head was spinning, lol x)
Speak's still my favorite book, but this one was definitely a life-changer for me. It's sad and sometimes triggering, but it gave me courage. You can recover from anorexia.
I'm about halfway through it. So far, it has a plot although not fully developed, since the story is narrated by Lia, who can only think about food and less about what is going on in her life. So, yes, it does have a plot, but the story is told through Lia's thoughts of eating.
I'm 100pages in so far it's amazing
When I'm done I'll make a book review and post it

Okay, people: question for those of you that have read it.
Is this book one of those that really doesn't have a plot line and is mind-numbingly dull with its constent descriptions and no real plot or focus?
Or is it like Speak?
Thanks!
SLIGHTLYlovely 2 years ago
I'm about halfway through it. So far, it has a plot although not fully developed, since the story is narrated by Lia, who can only think about food and less about what is going on in her life. So, yes, it does have a plot, but the story is told through Lia's thoughts of eating.
