 XP Home edition

& NOT

XP Professional.

Sorry, but you cannot change this setting if you have XP Home.

Here's the answer:

STOP BEING CHEAP AND BUY A BETTER WIRELESS ROUTER.

Otherwise, just set up config settings and make sure megabit speed is set to ISP spped, and change the wireless channel to 11 while youre at it

So router is not the problem

Windows XP Home Edition does not come with gpedit.msc. This is because Microsoft made it standard only on Professional for administrators and such. Sorry! :(

No - it will only affect the Windows XP computer. Actually, Vista does even have this option to configure.
