@roowrc If you don't have the intellect to differentiate "wood" from "would" then I highly doubt you'd have the talent to even drive a wrc car, much more complete a full stage. It sounds to me like you're arse is glued to a couch, not pinned in the driver's seat. Have some respect.
this drive was pathetic, shame this is wot world rally has come 2. the time he posted in that wrc car woodnt b much diffrent if he was in a road going 1.4 version. for driving skills just type in ari vatinen manx rally :-) rally is getting worse and worse with all the auto clutch and bollocks a great driver should b able to change gear. not richard burns fault health and safety fuck it for every1 but rally used to b better this shit car was hardly moving and the course was shit
@leemassey1 "Time he posted in that wrc car wouldn't much different if he was in a road going 1.4 version"
I really hope you're being sarcastic there, otherwise...yeah. I agree the driving style of the current WRCars isn't anywhere near as spectacular as rallying from the 70's thru to the 90's, but I don't think that makes this drive pathetic. As for the stage itself, it isn't shit. Every single rally stage is unique and different, with it's own challenges, that's what makes rallying awesome
@leemassey1 Why should you have 3 runs? In rallying you use each stage once, twice at the most. That's the whole idea of rallying, the challenge of driving on roads unfamiliar to you. Even then, 5 seconds within the time set by a 206 WRC driving a standard 1.4 L 206? 80hp vs 320hp? Good luck with that.
@JoseCanario13 The Peugeot 206 had like most WRC cars a sequential paddle-shift type gearbox, where the driver shifts manually, and the clutch only needs to be engaged when starting and during handbrake turns. The Peugeot was different as at the time, it was the only 5-speed unit, where the others had 6-speed. Having one less gear made it tricky sometimes to choose the correct gear for the corner, so the 206 had a computer override, where it would downshift into a lower gear for better power.
@anttrap321 In almost all WRC cars, no. The gear changes are so quick, it is better for the computer to match the revs on downchanges than for the driver to do them. Don't even need to use the clutch for downshifting, just flick the lever or paddle. The gearbox is similar if you like to dual-clutch gearboxes that you find on road sports cars such as the Mitsubishi Evo X, Nissan GT-R and VW Golf GTI. They, like the sequential units in WRC cars, match the revs electronically in a split second.
I felt well sorry for Burns, both when he was diagnosed and when he died. With things going so well for him and having such a rare talent which he was making the most of. I thought it was really shit luck. He was only 34 too..
whatever , go get your hanky and cry a river , you should look in the mirror , your the one who's talking shit about a dead rally driver , just cuz he didnt had the time to say hi (your words , theres no prove)talking about arrogant , and btw , calling someone names only shows your intelligence , wich is very poor so it seems !
there you go , show the whole world how poor your social skills are , my spelling is fine , and so is my grammar , excuse me for not having english as my native language , you keep proving what a cry baby you are , how pathetic to whine about someones spelling , it s always something about someone else , how about worrying about your own actions and acknowledging your own immature behavior , again , go get your hanky and stop wasting my time , BYE !
I feel sorry for Richard. Having people like you talk that way about the man. "A bit of luck that burns died of cancer". How can someone speak that way of anyone, especially a World Rally Champion.
He loved what he did & he was one of the best of Britain.
@llandudnoboy i would to see you drive a rally car and I think that we all KNOW that you will fail epically and that Richard Burns was one of the best............and also does anyone miss Peugeot because I want to see them in the WRC again with a 207 WRC which will be just as good as a 206 WRC
very easy to talk bad about a famous rally driver who's dead , as far as i have always seen richard burns wasnt any less polite to fans etc then any other rally driver , i call you a lier !
Mate I don't think it was an intentional block. It was a narrow section where Richard caught Seb, and when Seb realised, he pulled over to let him past. A broken steering rack and suspension wouldn't have made it easy to drive either.
Any experienced driver sees this coming and reacts by steering out of the way immediately. Not staying almost in the middle of the road with Burns aside him.
It never ceases to amaze me how relaxed richard always looked behind the wheel. Facial expressions, body language, all tell the story of a man concentrating so hard he makes it look like its no problem at all, like he's not even working hard and its all so easy. He looks almost bored at some points haha.......true legend of a driver. Only the good die young, and richard was too young to be taken. RIP.
wtf y didnt loeb went more to the side for richard , loeb had loads of room left , it was like he was trying to blovk richard , theres just dirt on the side so why block the road for richard !?
It was quite a windy section where Richard caught Seb, and I think Seb just didn't see him until he was right along side. Once Richard is along side him, you can see Loeb moves over straight away. I don't think it was an intentional block.
@creationofsociety probably because he didnt see him or heard him, his mirrors were shot from crash and he had all that noise coming from his broken car. as soon as hes seen he he moved to the right go back and see
I´m a big WRC-fan, and a very great plus-side compared to F1 is that competitors are friendly to each other. Thats´s because in F1 it´s always man vs. man, in rallying it´s man vs. clock and the drivers can be friends although the competition is hard.
Richard Burns will be sorely missed. The calm and collected yin to McRae's Yang. You just have to look at how quickly and accurately he got past Loeb on that tight section to see what I mean.

Its a great shame these giants of world Rallying are no longer with us
Richard Burns was far from polite when i asked him for his autograph at Harrogate when the Network Q Rally was there.
On the other hand Jimmy McRae was a real gent at Cardiff Castle during the Welsh Rally in the early 80ies.
Autographs no problem, a look in his Opel Manta no problem.
Not having met the late Colin McRae im sure he was as gracious as his dad.
Rest in peace Coiln

All i can say is that when i met him in Harrogate during the Network Q RAC rally days he didnot give me the time of day.
I wouldnot say he was unpleasant but he certainly had no intention of signing my Rally brochure. I can only go on first impressions.
Jimmy McRae had never met me in his life but he was most friendly.
Jhua kannkunen was another nice guy when he chatted at Pantperthog at the Dyfi stage in North Wales in 1996.
Calling me a liar certainly doesnot change my opinion
