  • Well, Lenin was not a very peaceful man; neither was his successor, Stalin. Both people were responsible for the death of millions of Russians during the period before world war II. Conclusion: The Romanov exploited the Russian people, true, but Lenin and Stalin were actually the"red" tsars of Russia in those days. Besides that, it's sad to kill the young four girls en and the boy. No matter what your convinction is, it still is an atrocity

  • This video is really impressive and cruel simultaneously. Really I feel a lot of grief for this family. This video draws tears from me. But the video is very good.

  • I´m learning russian now..so this song is very important to me

  • I love their history..

  • I too

    It's so sad :(

  • This is inaccurate. Not only did the Tsar have no need to carry his son, but there were eleven of them due to the house servants. Plus they were all brought down to the underground layer of the house to be murdered.

Still...it was HORRIBLE. How on earth could you bring yourself to murder children!? T~T

  • Orders. And to make sure that there was no one to inherit the thrown. I'm not saying it wasn't horrible. But it is understandable.

  • It was natural for the russians to kill them very easily

1 the tsar killed thousands of russian people not only in bloody sunday but even babies were dying from hunger and the tsar with his family were living in luxury since his fortune was 30000000000 in dollars all coming from russian people

2 if they had let the children live then those children would have the power to bring monarcy back in russia.

You don't protect a family who is blamed for your family's death and your country's misery...

  • It was an execution, not murder.

  • Rasputin was weird , he said if a Royal kills him the Romanov will die , and some died the prediction came true.A prince killed him , he tried so many times to kill Rasputin , but Rasputin didn't die , he died when he was thrown in a river , Rasputin froze to death.

  • I read an article about their lives , it said they were selfish , had food to eat while people in Russia were starving. The Romanov didn't do much to help the Russian people , many Russians hated them , specially Alexandra because she was from Germany a foreigner and the enemy of Russia.Alexandra's and her husband were cousins , but they were so in love , incest is gross.

  • Alexandra and nicholas where related but not as close as cousins.

but they both where cousins to King George V (Nicholas mother Dagmar and George`s mother where sisters and Aleandras mother and George´s father where siblings)

  • Most of the European Royals were related , i don't understand why their cousins didn't help them. The Romanov were the grandchildren of Queen Victoria and she was the daughter or grand daughter of the mulatto princes Queen Charlotte .

  • The British did help, thats why they were sent to the basement as they were scared if the whites would regain the Tsar, thinks could go back to normal

  • George V had to think of his own position.

  • Were u aware that male model Luka Magnotta is related to the Romanov family ? OMG

  • :'(

  • no alexei was shot with all the others, he died quickly, probably instantly, but sadly his sisters suffered a lot longer and were probably bayoneted to death because of the jewels sewn into their clothing.

  • im pretty sure only one or two died instantly. the chief executioner's own account has him having to shoot alexei again after the initial firing.

  • The things that happen beacause of our races ignoranance are So sad, annyoing, regretful, and, most of all,SAD!the thing they did to poor Alexi to kill him was, because of the deses, they did not shout him but gave him many many cuts.Like paper cuts, knife cuts & stabs etc. makes me cry thinking bout it...Once upon a decmember...

    T-T

  • R.I.P romanov family.

  • Heartbreaking...

  • Godbye romanov ,God bless you all....

    with so much love ..

    from philippines..

  • I used to think that Anastasia and her family were fiction, but when I found the truth, I was horrified! :(

  • My godfather and uncle Seraphim Pavlovich Rojdestvesky served under Admiral Kolchak. They were to liberate the Tsar, but unfortunately they arrived two days late and could not locate any bodies, only blood. He lived long enough to see the fall of Soviet Union and the tricolor fly over the Kremlin once again. We know where the orders to assassinate the Tsar came from and I think you do too!

  • a few Romanov´s are still alive ´caus they went into a exil i believe in France or Spain but not all Romanov´s are dead

  • I like the music! does anyone know more of those kind of russian songs? It's very emotional, I like it. Also the Video. You guys should read something about Rasputin, it's very interesting

  • is this a movie oh wow that's sad the kids should have lived the father meh

the mother meh the kids omg ana was 17

maria and tatania were 21 alex was 13

  • how sad, how terribly sad. but i agree, i'd rather die with my family than alone.

  • This family is very ideal. I used to watched Anastasia the cartoons film and feel in love by it. I searched it on Google and was surprised by the truth of it all. Very tragic story. RIP To this family. At the very least they are all together.

  • If the Russian people had been told about Alexi's haemophaelia, and seen his strength and courage in facing it, they would hav bub proud f him, & the illness wouldn't hav bin seen as shameful. 2day, celebrities talk openly about ailments they or friends & family have, & work 4 cures! This video s mostly from "Nicolas & Alexandra" - & it makes me wish I cud go back n a time machine & help them all!

  • Actually his illness was publicly disclosed in 1912, and it increased hatred for Alexandra.

  • The Russian people would have been absolutely horrified by Alexei's illness. You forget that these were the early years of the Twentieth Century. They wanted their rulers to be godlike.

  • the story is so sad

regardless of how bad a leader the father was

murdering a boy who was barely 14 is disgusting

    RIP Alexis

  • okay so maybe Nicolas was not the best leader, maybe he did make bad choices for his country, but that still does not make his and his families murders right! even if he did do things that did make it right to execute him, they did not have to kill his wife and children, especially the children, the oldest was only around 21 and the tsarevitch was 13. they had no right to kill those poor children.

  • no the oldest was 22 not 21 the 2nd oldest was 21

  • kazimo000: Rasputin did not give bad advice. He was the person who was healing Alexei. The Tzarina trusted him with the heir's life. Their relations killed him, but he had warned the family that he would die. If it was because of their blood, then they would crash and burn. If it wasn't, they'd rule happily. That was his curse.

  • he looks young to me

  • Comment removed

  • Seeing Alexei always makes me want to cry. he was only 13. It's so sad :'(

  • hearbreaking..romanov family were innocent they thought it was just a simpe picture taking.I hate to see the end of this video it made me cry ..but its nice..God bless you all romanov family..Good bye..

  • Nicholas, himself, certainly was NOT innocent. When he ordered mutinous peasants to be tried and executed by travelling court marshals, the first trials led to appeals for mercy by the convicted peasants. Nicholas's response was that he did not want to receive any appeals; the sentences were to be carried out immediately. Thousands were hung. He was deservedly called "bloody Nicholas". As for the Empress, there were probably excellent charges to be brought against her too.

  • I don't remember that, did they think it was a simple picture taking ? i thought the story was they had to leave and he made them wait in that room for a few minutes. him and those people coe in and they realise they were going to be killed. I dnt remember anything about a photgraph being taken. lol but i'm not an expert in this story.

  • Well they were told they were to take a picture of all of them before they left, but surely with the set up, they probably knew they were going to die

  • bravo!excellent from greece

  • This song is so beautiful.

  • wow....breathtaking clip! Left me speechless for a while! I always liked learning about the last Imperial family of Russia. But i never wrapped my brain around why they were killed. This was amazing! GREAT job! I LOVED IT!

  • that video is so true

  • tht was great!i luved the video! But i didnt u show them being shot???

Also, did they kno they were about to be killed?I wuld have asked why r we going into a empty room.?

  • i dont understand it still why did the kids have to die what did they ever do i cry for so many hours whatching this clip

  • It showed there could be no going back.

  • they had to die because the russian soviet revolution didnt ever wanted a tsar on the throne again!

  • They weren't children any more.

  • i really liked this. very well done. song is beautiful!

  • it makes me feel sad when i think about what the family must have endured during their last hours in that small room

  • when they were like in a family portrait was that when they were about to be shot

  • omg..everytime when i look to this clip i cry... ...... God bless u,Nicolas, and yr family!

  • I find more reasons to cry for the russian people who suffered under this incompetent despot.

  • which one? Nicholas II? Lenin, Stalin, Which russian despot are we talking about?

  • Lenin and espacially Stalin knew which noxious and cruel terrors they were doing. Tsar Nicholas II just didn't know what was going on in his country because he was not a good leader just as he was a good family man. This was no reason to kill him and his whole familiy. He didn't deserve that because he was not an evil person in contradistinction with Stalin.

  • Very true. When his father died he was basically forced to be tsar and be a leader, with no experience in leadership he shouldn't of been tsar. Yet he didn't want to be. he was more a father role than a leader role. It does make me so sad when i think about his family who also had to die just because he wasn't a good tsar, yet he didn't want to be a tsar in the first place. God Bless Them All Romanovs.

  • well, in the official records, from the point of view of history, they killed them so that the then opposing white army, couldnt use them as a banner of unification amongst the factions. churchill even sent english soldiers to russia to help the counter-revolutionary forces (white army). although that failed.

  • is it anastasia suppose to be the lost princess of russia...

  • Yes, but the missing remains turned out to be Marie's.

  • but house of romanov is still alive most are cousin to nicholas 2 last king of russia .

  • Deserved their fate or not, I still find it a story full of sorrow. The poor children. And the same way I think of it for Marie Antoinette and Louis 16th...take a step back. Don't look at them as "THE ROYAL FAMILY." Look at them as they are at their whole lives, regardless of the country (bad, I know). Take out the Royal. It wasn't just a monarchy desstroyed, but a family who loved one another. It wasn't simply regicide. This video makes me want to cry.

  • Only Alexis was a child.

  • I cry every time T-T poor fasmily!!!!!!!!!

  • I tried to watch this before but feared the end.

Finally got up the courage to see it through today.

Thank you for a gentle end as tragic as we knew it was.

    Very well done!

  • They were guilty of neglecting their country yes, but it's because the health of their son took precedence...they loved him so much, more than their people and country. You chose an appropriate song without realizing it. The song is about love for Russia.

  • Excellent video though I couldn't bear to see the end!

I am glad that at least they had each other in their final moments.

  • who is the guy with the cane

  • Atleast they gave them chairs lol.

Oh people should just calm down, what happens happens and EVERYTHING happens for a reason.

  • ah...ah...ah...I...just don´t...know what...I wished to..write now

  • no one has the right to judge. God is the only one who has that right. and no one definitely has the right to take someone's life....whether they are guilty or innocent. May the Romanovs rest in peace.

  • You think this video is sad. The truth was much much worse. I really think what happened to the Romanovs was unfair.

  • the song is called "Russia"

  • don't know the words but love the song

  • this video is...so sad...Good job

  • very impressive movie.

especially if you understand words of the song

  • I'm not saying that killing those children were the correct way but he shouldn't die with his family his family and his children didn't do any thing.

  • yes, many people suffered in the time of Nikolaj II,but still...that is not the proper way to handle teh situation, especially to die...And the children didn't do anything.

    Damn you,now I'm crying...

  • The Tsar & Tsaritsa where not innocent. In his dying breath, I hope Nikolasha understood full well his personal responsibility for the terrible deaths of his beloved, and absolutely innocent children, who paid for his crimes with their lives.

  • That's a horrible way to die. I feel so sorry for them, especially for the children who were innocent

  • They weren't children any more, and they weren't innocent.

  • I disagree with you....you can't stop trubles in this way... althought they weren't innocent,i think that's the worst thing you could do...

  • They weren't children any more, and they were just as guilty as Nicholas.

  • true they werent children apart from the two younger ones, but even if they werent children that doesnt matter, that doesnt make any difference...they were still innocent! although i agree, nicholas and alexandra were guilty, they were still good ppl and they didnt diserve to die!

  • Only Alexis was a child. And they all deserved what they got.

  • his name was alexei.

  • I am English, so it is Alexis. Thank God that the great King-Emperor George V did the right thing in 1917.

  • it's horrible!!!! I'm crying...really

  • i think thats it's horrible, he may not have been a good ruler, but it didn't mean that he was a bad person. they shouldn't have killed him and his family. other things could have been done.

  • They had no choice.

  • I can think of several other options. However, the bolsheviks were quite paranoid of anyone laying claim to the throne, and their fears clouded their judgement.

  • There's always a choice.

  • he wasnt a bad ruler... after doing my research i read that his wife was giving him the wrong orders which she got from resputin, he was taken the orders becuase he has given up... everything was going smoothly till resputin shows up to help thier son... he cursed them

  • que pena...

  • Very beautiful.

    I definitely like it.

  • I hate the fact that they killed all of the children. They were so beautiful! D:

  • There were 11 people killed in that room.

  • they had no rights killing the children

  • Yeah they did. Think about all the tens of millions of children who were killed during the reigns of Nicholas II and his father Alexander III.

  • Striking split personality of the 20th century. On the one hand, it was a golden age for the arts, medicine and science; on the other, more people were massacred by tyrannical governments during the 20th century than was the case during all the preceding 19 centuries put together.

  • The Song is About Russia....

  • There seems to be another mistake in this movie...whre is the devoted servant woman?

Have some respect for a family that were human beings.

    God bless them.

  • Actually there was the lady-in-waiting, footman and cook that died alongside them. This movie was a hollywoodized movie based off Robert Massie's book.

  • I wrote my senior thesis on the reign of Nicholas II. The figure of Nicholas is truly tragic. He was a loving family man, but was not well equipped to rule. By all accounts he was a mild man who simply should never have been Tsar.

  • Yeah, just like Charles I was a good king because he was a loving husband and father! Idiots.

  • And both men despite that were very poor Kings for various reasons and paid the price for this.

  • Yes he was a beautiful man, but he wasn't trained to rule a vast Empire. Even Dagmar (his mother) begged the paraliment to not put Nicholas on the throne and was pushing for the decision for Mikhal to take over. Alas they went with tradition and made Nicholas Tsar thus sealing his fate.

  • =( its like Alexandra knows somthing isn't right here. But then again you wouldnt.. Dingey grey room with two wooden chairs..

either way they still came to the same fate..

  • In the witness statment, they were told they were getting a photograph taken (a strange request isn't it considering it was nighttime, I am sure they would of gotten a hint from that statement alont).

While they were being put into postion, Alexandra requested two chair, one for herself (as she had bad legs) and Alexei (who was recovering from an accident in Tobolsk).

But it was a sad ending to a once powerful and beautiful dynasty.

  • It is sad but I did know you speak Russia. =)

    But I really feel sad......

    =(

  • So so so sad, but there were more people killed and they didn't know the were going to be killed.

  • this made me cry..it is very sad..and the musics sad.

  • Thank God that George V was King of Great Britain.

  • which one is anastasia?

  • Anastasia was the only tsarevna from royal family that wore her hair on her forehead, due to small scar she recived as a child, she was quite abit of a tomboy.

  • the one with the bangs.

  • this puts me to tears...

  • all monarchs should be killed, how could anyone have sympathy for these types of scum, no mortal should be worshiped and bowed to as if they were a "god"

    ALL MEN ARE EQUAL

  • All men ARE equal, so NOBODY deserves to be killed, monarch or otherwise.

  • kjb86

Your're from my neck of the woods;I'm embarrased that there's someone so stupid in New West.

All men are equal? Not women?I live in com-

munist China where NOBODY's equal and that is their platform!Talk about god?If you say one derogatory word about Mao,you're in the clinker.

Monarchs are't worshipped, their are respected. They represent our countries.

You live in the best constitutional monarchy and are too stupid to know anything but the word "scum".

    God Save the Queen!

  • Not all men are not equal. I am neither attractive as Brad Pitt or as intelligent as Einstein, etc. There are people that are smarter, better looking, more industrious, etc than others. Historically, humanity has fared somewhat better under monarchs than either authoritarian or "democratic" regimes, just in the amount of people eliminated from this planet.

  • i dont know much about wat happended to tehm but its heart breaking i mean why do people hav to be like this might sound gay ,, but i think we should just love each other n forgive... we hav so much hatred in the world ... n wats is going on evry where affects everyone ... cause we all live in the same place n we r all the same

    it sucks :(

  • Actually there were 11 people Olga Tatiana Marie Anastasia Alexi Nicholaus, Alexandera dr botkin Alexandras ladyinwaiting, and the childrens tutor and it was really inacurate the clock on the wall said 3:30 but the shooting happened at 1:30 and it didn't take that long for the Bolsheviks to come in and start shooting Yurovsky left the room for at least 3 seconds and they all came in and then Yurovsky said the speech about the execution Nicholaus says what? and then fire

  • The Communist party thought they would let them spend some family time together before executing them.

We are really nice people despite the lies about us.

  • I agree the children were innocent, but after all we are talking communism here.

  • Very Beautiful!

  • whats the name of the girl who is right to the girl behind Alexandra? Is it Anastasia, Olga, Maria or Tatjana? Maybe someone can tell me the name of this actress.

  • okay the one to her right is marie and i dont know her actual name.

  • isn't it maria?

  • creolerose09

What difference does it make? They're actors in a movie. It's not a documentary!

  • left to right: olga tatiana anastasia maria

  • very sad...tragic..no words.:(

  • three servents, a doctor, and yes their dog died with them

  • three servents, a dog, and a doctor died with the family

  • You can blame Lenin for it because in a new book "Ekaterinburg," an Oxford historian details the proof she's discovered that he specifically ordered the execution of the entire Imperial family. It's no longer evidentially tenable to claim it was the independent actions of a rogue local soviet.

  • in 2:26 from left to right who's who

  • War breeds death. And revolution the greater part of death. When maddness take the place of common sense. Childern are the innocents of war. They are all saints now in the Orthodox Church. And so they now wear the crowns of saints who gave there life for love of God and country.Yes change ws needed in Russia at the time. They poor were suffering greatly. But still no reason for killing childern. All we can do pray for peace... Little Alexi, pray for us...

  • i cried when i saw this video ,i just cant imagine how innocent the romanovs was ,they thought it was just a simple picture taking but evetually a murder plot,so sad .you know if i was the muderer i cant do it indeed..

  • As Tom Paine said of Edmund Burke's Reflections on the Revolution in France, "Burke mourns the plumes and forgets the dying bird." You weep over the Romanov family and you forget with Nicholas and Alexandra did to Russia.

  • They are now saints all of them in the Orthodox Church. To take the life of a child, any child, is wrong. Not to mention the others deaths that early morning.War is evil. And revolution breds war. As we should know. Looked what here in the USA in the 1700's. Yes Russia needed change. And the poor at that time were in very great need. It was ripe for the revolution. However it doesnt bless the death of childern. Little Alexie, pray for us....

  • not to nitpick, but this scene is quite inaccurate...

Unfortunately, a lot more people died with the family in that room on that night. Even one of the family dogs.

  • and Nicholas wasn't sitting.Only his son and wife were.

  • Not a lot, there are only two poeple missing, a chambermaid and a cook (don't know their names) 10 people in total, the picture only depicts 8, In the movie the chambermaid is separated from the family after the train is stopped at Yekaterinburg and the cook was written out. Again not a lot, just two.

  • it is all relative a change was needed in russia the tsars popularity wasnt the best people didnt like him cause he lost the war against japan were many died, russia´s economy was on a desperate need of a change too, is the same thing that happened during the french revolution, we think now that it was brutal and in fact it was brutal, but war is like that, look at what happened to Sadam Husseim( another autocrat) however no1 seems to care about him.

  • Ok dreadful story...Kids shouldn't be killed. But who can blame Lenin for that? And since Russian people didn't want a czar it was people's choice. Why their countries didn't help them? I mean countries like Denmark and England? But it was a fault to kill them exile would be better.

  • No, the people never approved of this gangster hit on the Royal Family. In fact, Russians were never told that the Russian Royal family was murdered. Their assassination was conducted in secret. This is EXTREMELY well known among educated circles.

  • Very sad what happened to them, from royal family to common prisoners, everyone agrees the children didn't have to die like that and it was wrong.

  • Such a happy family. They have no idea that their lives would be a tragedy in the end. Very sad.

  • Tragic, I must say.

  • omg, very sad and very good!

  • R.I.P.

  • he should have left with his family while he had a chance also if he would have had more sons and less daughters it would have made a difference, its all sad though.

  • They never had a chance to leave.

  • the story of the romanov's story is sooo sad and tragic....

  • Great song made me cry

  • I cried during this video. Both the fate of the Romanovs and the song were sad. They didn't deserve that.

Okay, maybe Nikolaj didn't know how to rule properly, but that was exaggerating! An angry nation is bound to do anything, even really rash things. This reminds me(sorta)of the fate of king Alexander and queen Draga(serbian monarchs) who where stabbed to death and then thrown of an incredible height. I don't believe that murduring you superiours is the best way to solve a problem.

    Great vid,btw!

  • So true. Have you read " Nicholas and Alexandra " by Massie ?

  • Alexandra prob. could have stopped it if she weren't so desperate for a cure and became under Rasputin's influence!

  • One Correction: Alexi had a disease so his father DID carry him like a doll because he was basically crippled...even if he was 14

  • Nikolai II had no need to carry his sick son.For that there was a former marine, a Latvian by nationality who remained loyal till the end and was killed together with the Romanov family.

  • Thank you for your incredible and touching video . Bye .

  • I agree that Nicholas II was deemed every inch as unfit to lead the Empire as Stalin was mentally unstable to lead the newborn Soviet Union. Even his father alexander III doubted he ad the will to run an Empire.

I don't deny that his death and that of his family (with the disputed exception of Anastasia) was harsh, but at the same time, I don't feel sorry for his incompetence and his religious zealotry. His reign marked the Golden Age of Porgoms.

  • This film has a few distortions in it . Just to name two. 1. Alexei was 14 and much too large for his father to carry him like a doll.2.There is only one other person murdered along with the family in this film actualy there were others.

  • i'm sure they were expecting to be saved, right up to the last minute.

  • what was that thing on that boy's leg? can he not walk or something, at my school we're just starting to learn about this whole thingy, and I think my teacher said something about the boy being sick or something, I might be wrong though, I wasen't paying attention.

  • he had hemophilia - a blood clotting disorder. He injured his leg a few scenes earlier sledding down the stairs and they are keeping it braced in place to slow blood flow(and probably keep bones aligned if he fractured it)

  • жалость к российской нации:(

    such a pity

  • murder was not a good choice, murder will never be a good thing no matter how evil the person was.. i think that a family would have done much better than stalin, lenin and the third one, they killed more people and children than freakin' hitler! so you might want study that a bit.. but remember murder is never an opcion!!

  • I want to make sure that all three conspirators get credit for their act of inhumanity. Though Trotsky would later deny it, Jakob Yurovsky received orders from Lenin, Trotsky and Sverdlov. Yurovsky was under Sverdlov's command and he gave the order to kidnap the Romanovs on their way back to Moscow, as history indicates there is no doubt as to his purpose: MURDER.

  • Does anyone know why they didn't try to go to Denmark, after all the tzar's mother was danish royalty?

  • Please I am interested in obtaining this movie, which I have to do, thank you!!!!
