and to the other guys comment yea its hard as hell to play this solo but it really helps if you know penatonic scales because then you can just improvise and make it sound good if you don't actually know the solo.. but overall four stars man. good job. check out my videos.

I've been playing for about three and a half years. And no, I can't play it. I could play it very sloppy (my technique just simply sucks, I have to practice my alternate picking a lot), but.. what about the 5 star rating then ;) But I don't only play these songs I've covered, I can e.g do barré chords very easily, I have a good ear for learning songs on ear and a good timing. I have friends that have been playing 5 months or so, and they are not as good as me. Of course I sucked then as well.

i think alternate picking is my forte when it comes to picking but im not sure... have you played intro riff 2 for master of puppets? the 012 013 014 013 0122 thing? i have real trouble playing that cleanly

@PaperSith yeh that riff can be tricky. I can play it pretty well but i get quickly fatigued :P

After playing a certain time, some things just go on themselves. I can now easily play stuff which I couldn't play a few years ago (without practicing it for a week and still not get it good) and I'm pretty sure that after couple of years you'll be able to that as well. I've been taking guitar lessons, which has helped me a lot and I think I'm a lot more versatile player compared to other (most?) Metallica or just metal-playing freaks not having a single guitar lesson.

guitar lessons really dont help that much with skill i have had only 3 lessons and been playing for 2 and a half years and i can play better than my friend wo too lessons for 3 years

A few days ago I played my 30 watt Cube (which I hadn't played for a long time) and it sounded a lot better than the Pocket POD, but there was still something missing in the sound. I think it's because of the gain which is produced by the bigger speaker compared to my small computer speakers. I do agree that the Pocket POD sounds fine, but I'm looking for a lot better than just fine. As I said earlier, I'm not going to buy anything for the next few months, but after that I'll upgrade my gear.

this is the only good les paul studio because it comes with ebony fret board it just kicks ass played it today at guitar center i thought it was going to suck...i was surprised i like it better than any standard. but my favorite will prolly be the customs and supremes they are gorgeous but for the money this guitar is bad and you know it.....awesome..simply

i definately think you need a noise gate or something it sounds like line 6 amp....but you can hear some buzz after you play......lol

What I really need is a good amp. I have noise gate on but it still sounds like shit. This is the most decent sound I can get from this piece of .. without losing all the distortion and still having some noise gate. And about the Line 6 amp thing: I tried a Spider III in a local store and compared it to Roland Cube 30x next to it. It's less versatile and the distortion is as bad as on my Pocket POD. And still there was over 100 euros difference in price. And yes, ebony rules.

Depends on the Marshall. MG series is as shitty as the Line 6, but on the other hand JCM 800 has great, if not thrash, rock distortion sound. As the list of things to buy gets bigger and bigger, the new amp gets just lower and lower. Oh well, when I get enough money I'll get a real amp (which will be.. at least within this year?!) with good sounds so nobody can complain about it then :)

NEVER BUY THE MG SERIES get a tube amp definately recomend the jcm 800 or maybe you could find a signature series amp that sounds good do you like krank?

I have no idea what amp I'm gonna get, but it's got to handle both distortion and clean, everything in between of course is just a big plus. But for now I'm going to stick to the modelling amps since I have no money for a new amp. But my plan is to get job for summer, buy Gibson Explorer and then get a new amp. I have 500 euros now, though, but I haven't decided yet how or when to use them. Maybe another 500 euros and then start thinking about the amp more precisely? We'll see.

i think getting that gibson explorer is what's going to get you messed up. im not trying to tell you how to do your business or anything but it would probably be smarter to get your amp first so you wont have to deal with deciding and saving so much money...coming from a guy who always blows his. lol

Simply can't play it. I could have a try, but I'm still struggling with the faster solos, partly because of the guitar (single cut) which then also prevents me from getting used to the part of the neck covered by the thick piece of mahogany. I've been looking for a double cut guitar and I'm probably gonna get one. Or then just stick to the rhythm and the easier, yet good sounding solos. And thanks, I used a modeling preamp, Line 6 Pocket POD which for the money is great.

Yup, cable with two 3,5 mm jacks (normal headphone jack, just make sure it fits to the direct out).

Of course. So you have plugged everything (guitar -> POD's direct out/phones -> computer's line in) and the settings are correct? If so I can't give any further help, I'm sorry to say. But check out user KillrBuckeye's home page, it worked out for me and it should work out for you as well.

Most of the song is just tricky alternate picking, lots of triplets etc. So not necessarily downpick madness like in Master or such. Oh, and thanks!

I really dunno how much these cost, but with 50 bucks you'll get good ones, Creative is an ok brand. The sound card is stock and it sure does suck. You better check out the sound card yourself, though I've heard a lot of bad about some of Creative's gaming sound cards so try to avoid them.

I have Creative something, they are in black and grey. Lets say.. put 50 bucks for speakers if possible and you'll get quite good. For recording: Audacity. Free and simple. Check out user "KillrBuckeye" on YouTube and his website, then recording methods or something, there you can see the correct set up etc.
